Why do you are what the display says when you are outside the vehicle? The question is whether the car thinks that a valid fob is inside . . . does the car start when you press the brake and press the button? As mentioned, if you try to lock the vehicle by pressing the lock button with a valid fob inside the horn will honk 3 times and the doors will unlock again - after three tries the vehicle WILL leave the doors locked. Leave the fob you know about a distance from the vehicle (like in your kitchen), climb into the car and try to start it. If it does atart then a valid fob is inside (or something is wrong). So if it does start, start looking. There really aren't many places for a fob to be.

That certainly isn't the way EITHER of my two 2nd generation Journeys work. The chime sounds once, and once only during the first drive after installing sensor-less wheels. The EVIC shows the warning message once, and once only and from then on the only indication that there are no sensors is that if I select the TPS display it shows dashes instead of pressure until springtime. There are no daily warnings; no recurring messages; just straightforward driving. When I put my summer wheels back on - it will chime once again the first time I am out driving and they 'reappear'. And then it works as usual.

It depends on what year. For previous years 7 seaters were an option. As of 2015 while the base models had 7 as an option in Canada all the rest come with 7 by default.

Can't Unlock Maps

It's actually hard to damage the trim if you use the proper tool - he must have been a real fumble-fingers. -
The recall has been announced for Canada - it appears on Transport Canada's web site. But nothing has been sent out to the public yet.
-
They do it because they are constantly looking for ways to cut costs. And in Canada we get a completely different mix of features and fewer model variants . . . . no 6 cylinder CVPs or SE PLUS. No 4 cylinder Limiteds or Crossroads - no AWD CVPs, Limiteds or SXTs. No FDW R/Ts And we tend to get more 'stuff'. And if you factor in the exchange rates, we pay less - then again on a per capita basis Canada outsells the US by a factor of at least two to one. And I don't think you can even get a 5 passenger Journey in any model above the CVP (the Canadian equivalent to the AVP) any more. I thought you have a '14, by the way. At least that's what your profile indicates.

Stereo usb
bramfrank replied to Princess Lucy's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Mine does 2100 or so. Are they in the root directory of the key? Or did you create a folder, calling it perhaps 'music' and stick them in that? I suspect the former. -
I don't remember ever seeing a post about this sort of problem on the board, So it isn't all that common an issue. The recall has to do with potential water infiltration to the control module through the spaces between the wires - the preventative fix is to inject caulking/sealant into the wire bundle - if the control module has been affected they will replace the module. If you bought your '14 as a new leftover the likelihood of this being the problem is remote. If it is used, then, of course it could be anything. Dust SHOULD have nothing to do with this because the sensors are not optical, but rather magnetic. Contact the dealer, make a appointment and bring it in.

No Sound
bramfrank replied to 20journey11's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Recalls are generally reserved for safety related issues and for pervasive problems; this issue is neither. And your problem might be unrelated to it in any case. And it is for this reason I bought the 7/115 extended warranty for my vehicle. Please let us know what it turns out to have been and how much (if anything) it costs to repair. -
The limited has heated cloth seats as standard and yes, the leather steering wheel comes with the leather wrapped shifter knob. The term 'missing' implies that they were supposed to be there. They are both options on that model.
-
Booster seats are an option. And they fold out of the middle row seating. Check your manual for details. And note that we don't have the plus models in Canada and our feature sets are very different than in the US . . . .
-
OK. Keep in mind that some, it not all of these features can be added to a basic SXT, which is why I use the base model's features to define the fact that if you have them you CANNOT have a Plus. That you DO have them does not necessarily mean that you have a Plus, however: 1. If you don't have a 8.4" screen you don't have an SXT Plus 2. If you don't have Bluetooth you don't have an SXT Plus 3. If you don't have a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather shifter knob it isn't an SXT Plus 4. If you don't have an overhead console . . . not an SXT Plus 5. If there are no illuminated vanity mirrors in the sun visors . . . it ain't an SXT Plus 6. If the front passenger seat isn't 'fold flat' or has no under-cushion storage . . . you are SXT 'plusless' 7. No power driver's seat w/power lumbar adjust? not an SXT Plus 8. No convex observation mirror in the overhead console? Nope. It isn't a plus. If you are missing ANY of these features, you have a base SXT. Then, there are certain options that are only available on the Plus (something I didn't get into with the previous post about the Crossroad): 1. If you have leather trimmed seats on your SXT it is a Plus 2. The Blacktop package is only available on the Plus 3. Factory-installed navigation is only on the Plus 4. If you have integrated booster seats it's a Plus 5. Rear seat video? A Plus!!

When you looked at the damage, did it SEEM to have impact damage? Or was there simply a straight crack of some sort? Deductibles may (or may not) apply, by the way (at least that's how it works where I come from) - here it is based on responsibility - so, for example if I am the victim of a hit and run, or if an accident is not my fault I don't have to pay the deductible. Then again, we also have a no-fault system, so my insurance won't go after yours to recover their loss - the concept being that it all averages out in the end.
-
It should be REALLY simple to find out. Start by looking at the window sticker, as suggested. But if you don't have access to it (and even if you do, sometimes dealer will generate them locally, so that may not be 'real'), just check out the vehicle for the features that the 'plus' adds to the vehicle: 1. Front passenger seat doesn't fold flat? Not a plus 2. Cloth seats? Not a plus 3. Manual adjust driver's seat (as opposed to power)? Not a plus 4. If the seat cushion of the front passenger seat doesn't open for hidden storage you don't have a plus 5. If you don't have the convex interior observation mirror that drops out of the ceiling console . . . you don't have a plus 6. 4.3 inch display? Not a plus If you have ANY of the above, you do not have a plus. You have to wonder at a dealer that doesn't know what he has sold you. You have to wonder more, at the fact that he admits to this. Would he take back the vehicle and replace it with what you DID buy?
-
Yup - sounds like the tank was hit by something as you drove along. There are three avenues - it is either a defect, in which case the warranty covers it. Or it is impact damage, in which case that should be covered by your insurance. Of course you could just pay the bill from your pocket. But you may get a bill from the fire department at some point, so you are much better off to let your insurance deal with it since the warranty wouldn't pay for 'consequential expenses'.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your Journey - I'm on my second one. For the sake of accuracy, the 4 cylinder engine is coupled to a 4 speed transmission - my first Journey had that engine. I also found mine to have sufficient power for almost everything except a high speed pass at elevated speeds - it could go fast, but took a bit longer than I liked to get there. Having said that, I ran into that sort of situation at most once every couple of months, and it wasn't more than a temporary inconvenience. The current Journey has the 3.6 litre engine with the 6 speed transmission and I rarely push it, if at all. Both power trains work very well and for the life of me I don't know why reviewers don't like the vehicle.
-
Yup. I tried it while I was out driving today. The only 'auto unlock' is when you pull the driver's door handle with the vehicle in park when the feature is enabled. For me I don't want the doors to auto-unlock anyway - and I'm certain that I've gone faster than the automatic lock threshold speed and it hasn't locked - but it might after 10 or 15 minutes into a drive - very strange. I'd prefer if the locks engaged instantly upon putting the vehicle in gear rather than at these random times. My old Y2K LHS was much more flexible in that regard.
-
Pasted from page 31 of the user manual for your 2011: Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit The doors will unlock automatically on vehicles with power door locks if: 1. The Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit feature is enabled. 2. The transmission was in gear and the vehicle speed returned to 0 mph (0 km/h). 3. The transmission is in NEUTRAL or PARK. 4. The driver door is opened. 5. The doors were not previously unlocked. 6. The vehicle speed is 0 mph (0 km/h). To change the current setting, refer to “Uconnect Touch™ Settings” in “Understanding Your Instrument Panel” for further information. NOTE: Use the Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit feature in accordance with local laws.

There's a huge difference between the US and Canadian models. For example, the Crossroad cannot be ordered with a 4 cylinder engine, the R/T is ONLY AWD and only the Crossroad can be ordered as FWD or AWD - and lots more. For 2015 most models are ONLY available as 7 passenger. That's why I edited my reply to reflect the Canadian reality for the OP.

How about this link which highlights the US variant: http://www.dodge.com/en/journey/packages/#blacktop. . . The Blacktop package up here gives you the following over the Canadian SXT: 19-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels Air conditioning with tri-zone automatic temperature control Black headlamp surround, gloss black mirrors, fasica and grille Front/rear aimable LED lamps Hands-free communication5 with Bluetooth® streaming audio SiriusXM satellite radio with one-year subscription4 Touring suspension Uconnect® 8.4 multimedia centre The Dodge Canada web site doesn't show the Blacktop for 2016. Or, just shoot straight for the Crossroad. Not 'as' blacked out, but very well equipped, pretty much a Limited, but with leather instead of cloth seats and they aren't heated. Edited to reflect the fact that you are in Canada.

Rear camera and lock pick c8
bramfrank replied to HawtDogFlvrWtr's topic in Accessories, Modifications
The video input is absolutely standard NTSC analog - you can buy any of the aftermarket kits - but the camera integrated with the bezel as supplied in the OEM kits is likely the most desirable route to go - and it includes everything you need. -
Rear camera and lock pick c8
bramfrank replied to HawtDogFlvrWtr's topic in Accessories, Modifications
If you have the 8.4 inch display you can buy a camera kit (ideally the OEM kit) and then your choice of a lockpick or you can simply have the sales code added. If you have the 4.3 inch display you can only get video through a lockpick. I shopped around and bought the OEM kit from a Dodge dealer on ebay - I paid about $235 at the time for the kit. I went with the OEM install at the time because Coastal had some pretty poor reviews and it was cheaper to activate the feature at the dealer than to buy the C8. You buy the lockpick from Coastal directly. -

Could it be a bad starter solenoid? -
@trevcda I'm curious; Can you explain just how you've been inconvenienced? Has your vehicle been out of service? Have you gone to have the work done at their direction and found that they couldn't take you in and so wasted your time by going in and now need to return? More to the point . . . has your vehicle been impacted by the underlying reason for the recall? (which in my opinion is just a public relations move in any case, since even after the recall is performed and you put enough keys on your ring and hang them off the fob so that they apply torque to the device the vehicle will still be able to be shut down as the result of going over a bump). If I was the advisor and a client told me he felt entitled to compensation as the result of somehow being 'inconvenienced' by NOT having had to come in for something that doesn't impact on his use of the vehicle I suspect that the request would not only be denied, but that the work might take a lot longer to complete than it would if the client was being simply pleasant.
