  1. $100 for the part on eBay . . . . can't paste with this browser for some reason, but you can search for 68096254AA using Google AND on eBay.
  2. I like the look of the mesh grill . . . but you will need to finish the job to complete the transformation.
  3. runcnc: I can pretty much assure you that that was not the OP's issue. The OP reports he got the 'FOB not detected' message, meaning that the vehicle was asked to do something that required the FOB to be in range. You get a different message, specifically one directing you to press the brake pedal when you press the start button and you aren't already pressing on it, so your question is likely redundant.
  4. I'm certain that if you asked, he'd be willing to accept a straight trade of your vehicle for his.
  5. My Crossroad claims to have an alarm. I have no clue whether it works or not and I don't care because even if it does go off no one pays attention to these things anyway.
  6. You wouldn't want the doors to be any 'lighter' should you get into an accident where the other vehicle hits you in the door. You can always have someone with mechanical abilities grind or file the detents in the spring loaded cam that provides the hold point to deepen them so the holding angle is increased, requiring more force to get the wheel out and allow the door to close - don't take out too much metal, mind you. But there will always be some angle which is too much to keep that door in place and modifying the part will put more stress on the other bits involved (like the hinge on the and of the cam and on the wheel's axle) that can wear or fail over time.
  7. Can't help with operational details, since both my Journeys are 5 passenger versions.
  8. Being a bit dramatic, are we? Overpriced? You mean there is are midsize CUV on the market that cost less than the Journey? Things break. And if a major reason for buying the vehicle was the navigator, you'd probably have been a lot better off financially buying a stand-alone one for $89 . . . . they do the same without being integrated into the dash AND the maps can be updated for free. One thing you can tell your dealer is that rather than bring you in only to determine that he needs to order a radio, to just order in the replacement and to let you know when it arrives.
  9. Strange place for this question, xcaliber81 . . . . Your base Journey didn't have rear air, your new one does because it has the third row of seats, hence the second blower. I suggest taking out that manual and reading it.
  10. They replace the wires that are there . . . . I'd have preferred to be able to find the other end of that wire in the back of the vehicle, so I'd have been able to forego pulling the various panels, but alas that was not to be. Note that you can move the cable lock on the connector and then slip the original wires out. What I ended up doing was to have the dealer make those radio-end connections when I was there to add the sales code - they were going to charge me the same 1 hour labour anyway and this way they would have been responsible for any damage to the radio or the connector.
  11. Not the ones that are near the floor just aft of the rear wheel wells. I presumed he meant those, since he would have noticed that there were screws otherwise and would not have asked the question.
  12. As far as I can tell it is held in place using a pop rivet . . . . you'll need to drill it out and to put in a new one (though you'd be well advised to back it up with a large washer). That means removing the panel. It isn't hard to do, but it is best done with a set of trim sticks.
  13. If you already have an 8;4 inch display it will cost less to add the backup camera sales code than it will to buy a Lockpick . . . . . if you have the small display you'd need to upgrade that OR use a lockpick - and while you can find those parts online, it gets pretty expensive to replace the display, bezel and such, even from eBay. The video input to the radio is on a couple of the pins on the back of the radio and there are vendors on eBay who will sell you an appropriate adapter cable if you aren't comfortable cobbling up the interface and/or don't want to buy the OEM camera kit (that's what I did). If you go with the lockpick, I understand that it has a number of video inputs, which would allow you to have cameras out back and up front if you wish.
  14. No. You can't. The only value that can be switched from Metric to English and back again from the steering wheel is the digital speed readout.
  15. The swap takes all of 10 minutes - and that's if you are slow. You will also need to move your Sirius subscription to the new radio.
  16. 90 minutes won't kill a battery in reasonable condition unless, perhaps your headlights are on.
  17. Not all RB5 radios have had issues, by any stretch. And, while the DVD is a separate component that can be unbolted from the radio, it is not available as a separate part, which is why the dealer replaced the entire radio - the problem is that they swapped in a refurb unit that had nav issues and which had been 'repaired' (I think all they do is reload the entire memory map) - so you may have inherited a radio that is prone to issues as a result. You can actually find the DVD module on eBay, sold separately. They do show up reasonably often.
  18. It's just as (and probably more) likely that there is a blown amplifier or 4. Blown speakers don't usually 'crackle', but rather tend to get very muddy/buzzy sounding.
  19. If you can show them that this is not normal, by demonstrating on another vehicle with your phone and the same radio model, you can hold them to replace the radio at their expense, since you reported the problem during the 'satisfaction period' - or if you got the vehicle with a warranty, under that. And they owe you a refund for the inappropriate update.
  20. You don't have to wait for the timer to be triggered. You can press the start button three times quickly every so often to restart the timer and nothing in the vehicle will shut off.
  21. It's a legal requirement that they limit access to certain interactive features while the vehicle is in motion . . . . . I, for one think it would make sense to check the front passenger seat to see if there is a live body and if there is, to not lock the features out. But that's just me.
  22. It'll work fine, but why not use what's specified? I have Costco do my changes. They use proper weight synthetic oil, the price is right and I do my shopping while they do the change.
  23. He's set in metric. It is litres/100 km - full scale is correct (infinite fuel/100km when not moving). If he sets it for MPG it will sit to the left when not moving (0 MPG).
