  1. There's no retyping required: The options if you want to link previously posted content are to either cut and paste the information or to just post a direct link to the topic in question: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/7851-2014-dj-awd-stock-17-rims-widest-tire/#entry56413
  2. If they are before and after shots (and I suspect they are not) it is NOT good - you would blind all oncoming traffic with that pattern. On the other hand, if they are indeed low/high HID images, then that low beam pattern is awesome!!.
  3. There are quite a few posts criticising the quality of the 'premium sound' system. Neither of my Journeys came with it and they sound darned good the way they are, so I'm happy. It wasn't a 'no charge option', by the way (nothing is 'no charge', but was included as part of an package in your vehicle. I don't listen to the SiriusXM source much except for Jazz and Blues and even then only rarely because the selections they play often suck. It doesn't help that all of their announcers are sooooooo bad - and Cousin Brucey needs to retire 10 years ago - he must be 80 years old and has no place on the dial any more. Having critiqued the content I will say that I find that the acoustic balance of the satellite music is 'limited' and 'flat', further reducing my enjoyment of the service. So I have an iPod in the armrest loaded with 5,000 songs and I often listen to a news/talk radio channel on AM, but FM certainly sounds excellent when I tune to a station on that band.
  4. Unless you reset the MPG value before leaving you need to consider that it is averaged over a much longer period, so if it reads low, that is because it was previously lower and likely came up a bit. Then, of course there's the fact that the usage is calculated, rather than measured - this isn't exactly a lab grade instrument. The only way to more accurately KNOW your fuel economy over a fixed course is to fill the tank up to the very top, drive the course noting the distance travelled and then refilling to the same point at the end and using a calculator to figure out your MPG - and even then you are going to be subject to inaccuracies in the gas station's pump (especially if it is one of those bullsh*t ones that adjusts for temperature variations), the accuracy of the odometer and the actual level to which you fill, but it will be close - then compare it to the reading in the vehicle - I suspect it will be close, but not exactly the same.
  5. More than likely an electrical issue with a connector . . . the result of corrosion . . . . your location says New York - salty roads in the wintertime will do that, especialy if you park indoors. I have had all my vehicles purchased since about 1987 rustproofed by a reputable company. Both my Journeys were rustproofed. By way of example I kept an LHS for 13 years, drove it every day and it parked indoors at both ends of my commute and never had any electrical issues - also rustproofed. My brother bought an LHS the same time I did. Parked outdoors (which is better for the vehicle, from the perspective of winter corrosion) and he started having issues after 3 years and the car was sold after 5 because it was causing too much trouble for him.
  6. To start, there's no indication of where you are. Country of residence and whether you need all-season, winter or a summer-only tire are factors. Assuming you are in the US, the simplest thing is to head over to tire rack, enter your vehicle information and read the customer reviews for the tires they recommend that are in your price range. Then go to Sam's Club or Costco (assuming you are a member) and compare pricing for whatever your want for the tires, installed.
  7. Welcome to the forum. If you had to adjust the aim, the light source is in the wrong place for the reflector and your high beams will be too low. Note too, that LED and HID conversions are not technically street legal. Yes, Halogen bulbs are a lower colour temperature than overly white bulbs, but they work just fine. For my part I went for lumens, rather than tint in my ride and installed HIR bulbs which work perfectly in the reflector (yes, you do need to trim the bulb tab to allow them to be installed) and they don't require re-aiming. But even though technically they too are not street legal (because they aren't approved as an assembly with the reflector) no one will ever be able to tell that it's been modified without pulling out the bulbs and looking at the part numbers.
  8. Since the repair was covered I don't know why you were charged for the diagnosis. It is possible that the transmission was overfilled from the factory, though was the engine running when they measured the fluid level? Many vehicles require that the engine be warm and idling and if it was supposed to be and yours was not, the level would read high. The code in question that you reported could be a symptom of a bad sensor. You might want to consider springing for an extended warranty - repair costs, especially on electronics can be very high.
  9. I personally like the pearl white in the Crossroad. The platinum trim the Crossroad comes with in that colour is the most attractive combination of all . . . . . I myself opted for the Silver (officially Billet Metallic) before I had ever seen the pearl white, but if I was to trade mine for another, it is what I would buy.
  10. They still install new ones at the factory, but the warranty does allow them to install refurbs, so your complaint will fall on deaf ears. I am of the opinion that issue with the nav is related to a combination of features that are interacting badly, which points to a software issue, rather than a hardware problem - but that is with the limited information I have been able to glean from the user base here. I will no doubt regret writing this, but my unit has been running just fine.
  11. Welcome. Glad to hear you are pleased with your purchase.
  12. I used a Garmin 3490 in my last Journey (it was an SE Plus) and it worked well for me because it provided Bluetooth as well as nav functions and I mounted it above the mirror, so it was not visible to the casual observer and it supported voice command (something you will not have with your upgrade, by the way, since it needs the buttons on the steering wheel to work). When I got my Crossroad I decided to go with the OEM solution and I have been pleased. Even though you've decided not to go that route (I'm including it for anyone who might read this topic while researching an nav update for their vehicle), one thing to keep in mind is that an aftermarket radio may well compromise access to touchscreen accessed features like heated seats, the electrical outlet and control of daytime running lamps if you have them. If your radio comes from a post-2012 vehicle you will need to get a PIN - we have a member here who has been helpful in generating them - you can PM me for details if you wish because I'm not certain he wants his name 'out there'.
  13. Press and hold the driver's side temperature up and down buttons together with the front defrost button for about 20 seconds to bring up the dealer menu.
  14. An extended factory warranty and rustproofing can be excellent investments if you are planning to keep the car . . . . your radio, for example is a $2,000 repair. The electronics are a mystery to many dealers and the modules can cost a fortune. Being in Canada we get hosed on these plans, but I sprung for the 115K/7 year plan with no deductible. You should be able to get it for ~$2K, there may be an inspection fee, depending on the vehicle age and mileage.
  15. Sounds like delamination. Position the vehicle so that the defect is as apparent as possible, the take a picture of the problem.
  16. I responded to your PM before I read this post. I'd start by compiling a REALLY TINY OSM map to load as a supplementary - that will replace the large one you loaded and free up memory if that is the reason. Then I'd see if I couldn't get the image I sent you to load before doing anything more. But it may only allow the new image to cover the same geographic area as the original - that would mean you really need to involve the dealer or to load an unlocked primary map of your home country. I still wish someone local to me would give me a crack at his 'locked map' radio before sending it in for the knee-jerk reaction to the problem.
  17. If you haven't found the posts in question, this is what I recall: There are three variants of the dash sensor. Two of them include an ambient light sensor which is used to control the automatic headlights - you would also need to replace the light switch assembly and have the sales code programmed into your vehicle if you wanted to enable this. Two of the sensors have the temperature sensor for the automatic air conditioning. So there is one with auto lights only, another which is auto air conditioning only and the third has both - if you have a base vehicle you have no sensor at all. There is the possibility that you may also need to add a wire between the sensor and the radio, depending on the wiring harness your vehicle is equipped with. Unless you have the right sensor and the proper connections, it would seem that you will not be able to enable automatic air conditioning nor apparently to control the climate control system heat from the touchscreen.
  18. You should only require the appropriate radio module and the replacement antenna and POSSIBLY the cable for it. The radio itself is a 5 minute job to replace. The antenna ought to be simple as well. Whether you need the cable or not? I'd check the parts fiche for your model to see if the cable assembly is different or not to be certain. The radio type for the 4.3 inch display that includes the SiriusXM receiver is the REB. You can use the appropriate radio from a Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger or a Journey. Radios are cheap on eBay ($105-$200 at this time). Antennas and cables? I haven't looked in great detail, but this page may help with the antenna bits: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=562339&ukey_product=4298319 Now, if you wanted to move to the 8.4 inch display? That would be a major undertaking.
  19. Having said all of the above, the transmission is kind of strange about downshifting. Yes, it WILL downshift when decelerating and coasting (so to speak) to a stop. It does this to keep the engine RPMs as close to the torque peak (the point where the engine puts out maximum torque, which coincides with the best mpg point) as possible, which is why many cars these days have 6,8 and 9 speed transmissions - they'd use CVTs if they were reliable enough and just let the engine run at 2200 or so RPM forever, using the transmission to accelerate. For some reason the transmissions in the Dodge will downshift, rather than waiting for the driver to press the accelerator to do so. Likely that is what you are feeling. It isn't how I would have programed the thing, but then I don't work for FCA.
  20. Did you ever have the tires changed or just have the wheels balanced? Perhaps the tech wrote it and did not tell you? Did you buy the vehicle new? Was it perhaps a demonstrator? Did you complain about the problem when you first got the vehicle?
  21. Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad that you are all right. Before you sign on the dotted line, you should check out autotrader.ca and chrslercanadadeals.com to name a couple - the 2015s ought to be well priced at this time of year, so you might even be able to upgrade to a Crossroad or Limited without breaking the bank. Keep us posted on developments.
  22. Just saw this thread . . . . yes, you need to change the radio module - it is a 10 minute job and it costs - you can buy the radio from the dealer for $2K, you can find 'pulls' for about $800 on eBay. You can use radios from the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger or the Journey (as long as the radio is an RB5). Part number differ between the vehicles, even if the unit itself is the same. And make absolutely certain that you check the part number against the features because there is no other way, short of plugging it in to determine if the unit has nav or not. There was a hardware change in mid 2012. The newer ones need an unlock code, but there is a member on this board who can generate one for you. No, it does not include the display, though you already have the larger screen and SiriusXM, so you are equipped with everything. You would need to transfer your radio subscription to the new radio. I did it. I am more than satisfied since it is fully integrated with the vehicle. I would not want to use my phone as a navigator for a number of reasons, in part because the screen is too small. Also, most jurisdictions won't let you touch your phone, but your infotainment system is fair game. in any case, too many screens is too distracting (and messy) for my taste. Of course, to each their own.
  23. The OP will no doubt clarify the statement, but my take is that they sold the filter, but perhaps did not install it. I agree, however that unless the buyer specified the wrong VIN (which the parts department should have asked for, considering that the buyer would have no way of knowing that there was a mid-year change) then I'd have taken them to small claims court for my loss if it had happened to me.
