  1. They do market it a lot up here - and obviously I'm hooked, since I'm on my second one . . . . . one of THE values in the marketplace.
  2. The only real complaint for the model when it came out were the brakes, which were reworked in 2012 - so you have the larger disks and calipers - it also means that you can't use 16" rims with snow tires, There is a periodic complaint from some owners about power steering hoses blowing out in very cold weather because the PS fluid apparently gels up - there IS a fix for it that involves a different fluid - but I'm in Montreal and we get both hot and cold weather too - I have not experienced the problem. I'm on my second DJ - the first had the 4 cylinder engine, the new one the 6 - both do the job. Heating and cooling are more than adequate. I would consider buying an extended OEM warranty if you do buy the vehicle, because the electronics in any of the new cars out there are expensive.
  3. I'm on my 2nd (the 1st was an '11 SE Plus). Your experience with the 4 banger echoes mine - I don't push the 6 in my '14 often, and I never had any issues in either highway or city driving with the 4, but if you've had the 4 and get the 6 you will see a major difference when you go to pass at highway speeds - but it also shows up at the pump at ANY speed. I do find that the 6 shifts a lot, I suppose that is to be expected; that it shits 50% more often than the 4 speed. I also find it needs a bit of reprogramming in that it likes to engine brake on deceleration - I would expect them to let it freewheel more, rather than downshift - if I want engine braking I think I can figure out how to use the manual override. But as mentioned, the stock sound system is amazing for the vehicle - given what people say about the premium sound I am very happy I didn't opt for the factory nav, which would have given me that package. It meant that I did my own GPS update and added my own backup camera, because of the way the vehicles are optioned up in Canada - but the inconvenience as minor at best, since I learned a lot about the way the vehicle is built by doing the installs myself. One major recommendation I have is that given the amount of expensive electronics in the vehicle, if you plan to keep it longer than the basic warranty, a factory extended warranty is likely a good investment.
  4. Full disclosure in the initial post would have been nice . . . If the problem doesn't go away after a 10 minute battery disconnection take it to a dealer. This isn't something you're going to fix without going in and testing things - possibly you have a bad ground or other electrical connection problem - or an issue with the BCM
  5. Do you have automatic headlights? On the second gen (2011+ models), headlights will only come on when you put your vehicle into gear . . . perhaps the sunlight sensor is dead (or covered up with stuff)?
  6. Sounds more like an intermittent battery or loose battery connection.
  7. While it won't display my messages on screen, my Windows Phone 8.1 does read the messages to me via Cortana and Cortana will then accept a dictated reaction (call back, reply (most . . . some of the time, and so on). It is handled by the radio as an incoming phone call, so it should work with ANY Bluetooth connection.
  8. Just spitballing here, but It MIGHT be that there was an update applied which changed the way the unit works . . . . if you could quantity the issue in detail you might discover that what it I doing is that it resumes at the beginning of the current data block (buffer) it was on - and in an audiobook, which is pretty efficient in terms of memory use there might be more than 20 minutes of data in that block
  9. The vast majority of owners have few problems with the model. I guess you could have gotten the lemon in the group. Does your state's lemon law cover the vehicle? I suppose that in the end it comes down to the fact that in more than 3 years you've run through a set of tires (which is usually more about how they pave the roads in your area and how you take care of tire pressure and wheel alignment, than it is about the vehicle itself) - If course if something in the front end came loose (there is no 'axle' per se), it could also be about rough roads and such, though loose bolts can happen. If your CV joints are done it can again be about road conditions. You haven't given us much information about things like what model you have, which engine and what mileage . . . . is the dealer covering all this under warranty? And trading it or selling it should certainly not be an issue, unless you tell them how you feel about the vehicle when you speak with prospective buyers or dealers.
  10. My silver Crossroad exhibits color differences as well, but I have decided to live with the problem . . . . . You indicated that your local service manager and you are not on the best of terms - I wonder if he even submitted the request? You might want to check around to see if any one local dealer is known for better body work than the next before handing it in for the work.
  11. Mine will triple-honk occasionally on locking up and leaving - grabbing the handle with the FOB on your person is NOT a cause, since that only unlocks the door and mine will do the deed as I am walking away. I would presume that one of the FOB detectors is way too sensitive and when conditions are right it will decide the FOB is in the car - a press on the 'lock' button to relock the vehicle solves resolves the immediate issue. If, however it simply unlocks without warning you probably ought to look into the decoder and the unlock buttons on the door switches as has been suggested. I wonder if it couldn;t also be a chafed wire in the door harness?
  12. Your vehicle is 2 years old - are those the original wipers? I know that the OEM blade design on my '11 was different than the '14 - so a new set of wiper blades may well solve the problem.
  13. The only real problem with Canadian Tire is that a lot of the stuff they sell is overpriced crap . . . but they have a huge selection of overpriced crap.
  14. It's like the expiry date on food - 'best by' does not mean 'bad after'. Keep driving, unless this is your first oil change in 20K km, in which case I would do a drain, fill, drain and refill (not at the dealer) . . . . . do NOT admit to it being the first oil change if indeed it is because your warranty will have been forfeit.
  15. The new square fuses are a new standard - that your local parts place didn't have them says more about the parts place than it does about your vehicle. Up here in Kanuckistan we have a major retailer called 'Canadian Tire' - they had all the values in stock when I needed one for my '11.
  16. Given that it is a design defect, at least in Quebec they will not be able to escape providing a lifetime warranty, based on what you reported - this is going to get interesting. I'd have balked at even paying the $100 FYI they are all manufactured by Panasonic. . . . I STILL would love to take a crack at one of these before it goes back to the dealer.
  17. Even the E10 they supply is a waste - you'd actually burn less gasoline if there was no ethanol than you do with the E10 we use now - the mileage impact on my motorcycle, comparing E0 premium with E10 premium was 16% - so diluting the gasoline by 10% increases the actual amount of raw undiluted gasoline consumed per mile over what it does without. Politics and marketing-driven garbage science. Bah.
  18. The US Crossroad has been decontented some more to allow for the 'plus - for the extra money, perhaps they decided to do what they always had in Canada, which is to make the Pentastar the standard engine for the trim level. In Canada for '14 and '15 the Crossroad FWD always came with the power seat w/power lumbar, fold flat passenger seat with underseat storage, leather, 6 cylinder engine, 8.2" radio, AC power outlet, express up and down windows on both sides and so on included . . . . . As to dropping the AVP - I strongly suspect that the SE will be the new AVP, but without checking, who knows? Maybe they finally ran out of traditional tail lights and will give everyone LED ones and proper tinted windows and a roof rack?
  19. I just bring it to Costco - $50 Canadian for the change including the filter and they use Castrol Synthetic, not that it means anything if you change your oil regularly. And because I am an 'Executive member' I get 2% cash back in addition to the cashback I get from my credit card.
  20. To the best of my knowledge it was NOT a recall, but ask your dealer. They may do it as a courtesy, even so.
  21. If you have the factory nav there's a setting for the car to use GPS time, which is extremely accurate
