  1. Wow, those plan costs in the US are excellent - we can't get lifetime up here from FCA for any amount of money, only 7/160 (that's 7 years and 100,000 MILES) and they want almost $4K for the zero deductible version of that - I am not a high mileage driver and managed to score my 7/115 (that is 7 years and 72K miles) zero deductible plan for dealer cost, which is $1,610 up here.
  2. You have a powertrain warranty remaining, but the bumper to bumper component is expired. So, have you tried the battery disconnect/wait/reconnect yet? Did it help? Note that almost every procedure that involves electricity (even the disconnecting of the radio, for example) that one does on the DJ and on most modern vehicles begins with 'disconnect the battery'. With any luck all you've done is glitched a controller - and resetting the unit with the battery disconnect procedure would hopefully being it back. If not, this can become expensive, which is why I took an extended warranty for my vehicle. Among some suggestions that come immediately to mind if resetting does not resolve the problem are to take it to the dealer and do not tell them what you've done and hope that they can somehow get FCA to provide a goodwill warranty settlement or you might search eBay or contact an LKQ member scrapyard and try to get another module from the same model/engine/year as yours (the part number of the component will tell all) and hope that resolves the issue. A really quick check indicates that the TIPM modules go for between $90 and $650, and BCMs for between $50 and . . . . . more.
  3. My WIndows phone plays music just fine with the most recent DJ radio, but apparently not with the 2011-2012.5 models, my understanding being that there is a protocol called MTP that is supported in the newer radios that is not in the older. Whether your phone supports it or not I obviously can't say, but mine appears to. As to the comment about Gracenotes 'no longer working with uConnect' - that doesn't mean Gracenotes has stopped functioning and that your album art won't appear, but rather that Gracenote is not being integrated into the latest 'A' series uConnect products, the ones that support apps. Not deadly, but it really would have been nice if FCA had provided a mechanism to update the database like they do for the mapping in the RB5 radios, albeit at a stupidly inflated price. Note that Gracenotes and album art and all that other good stuff are only supported on the 8.2 radios and not on the 4.3 models I personally don't miss the artwork that does not appear on some of my music, mind you. I may dump my music onto a microSD card in an SD adapter and stick it in the dash slot, but when I tested it I found that the radio and navigation were less responsive when playing music that way, possibly because the processor was doing extra work that was previously offloaded to the player. Note that music has to be in a directory called 'music'.
  4. Midway through the 2012 model year FCA put larger brakes on the DJ. The simplest way to know which you have is to measure the diameter of the disks - along with larger pads came larger disks. The old ones at 302 mm and the new 330 mm.
  5. yup - bad as the picture is (use autofocus next time, or get a better camera) this is the clip that holds one of the plastic tabs from the air conditioning controls panel to the slot in the console - it slips over the end of the tab - and they tend to fall out when you pull the panel off. This means that at least one tab is just sitting there, not actually being held in place. It is simple enough to get the panel off - remove the 2 screws under the trim covers on either side of the panel and you pull on the panel.
  6. The microphone is integrated into the rear view mirror - those 2 slots at the top.
  7. Yes, she did. And she specifically said that she'd figure it out, presumably now that she knows how to search the manual - so none of your help is needed.
  8. She had it figured out. The audio system works as advertised. See post 9. Now that she has the manual and knows how to search. So 'she has it figured out'. Of course 'touch to set' is a complicated concept, even for the techno challenged.
  9. Most likely the rear brake wear indicators. Too bad you live so far away. I have a set of new pads sitting here from my '11 that won't fit the '14.
  10. I did the 7/115 zero deductible - that represents what I'm likely to do over the term - then again I bought that plan for the '11 also and wound up trading after 40 months.
  11. Larryl, where Mysty2 comes from there is no time limit on latent defects - if it can be proved, the coverage will be extended to whatever the legal definition of the useful life of the item is. The problem is that it will cost more than the price of replacement radios for the life of the car to win the case . . But an extended warranty can stave off that date from the 3 year mark to 7 years in Canada - and the best time to buy it is when the vehicle is new - if you have more than 20K kms it gets more expensive and it can only be purchased during the initial 3 year warranty term in any case.
  12. These are the US suppliers of sill guards on ebay toay - some are the inside one that covers the plastic scuff plate and others are the ones that protect the paint. Enjoy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrome-Stainless-Steel-Door-Sill-Plate-Guards-4-PCS-FITS-2009-2013-Dodge-Journey-/351199512636?fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3AJourney&hash=item51c51f483c&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Door-Sill-Scuff-Plate-Guards-Cover-Trim-Dodge-Journey-2009-2013-Stainless-Steel-/151654475268?fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3AJourney&hash=item234f4fa604&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-OEM-82210810-Door-Sill-Plate-/141595239228?fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3AJourney&hash=item20f7bbe33c&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Illuminated-Door-Sill-Protector-LED-Scuff-Plate-For-Dodge-Journey-2012-2013-2014-/171343401781?hash=item27e4dcd335&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Door-Sill-Scuff-Plate-Guards-Cover-Trim-for-Dodge-Journey-2009-2010-2011-/161496565116?hash=item2599f2057c&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-2010-2011-2012-Dodge-Journey-Stainless-Door-Sill-Guard-Plate-Sill-Mopar-OEM-/400517146070?fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3AJourney&hash=item5d40aea5d6&vxp=mtr
  13. Yup, my Canadian Crossroad uses the turn signals as DRLs - my '11 SE Plus used the headlights.
  14. If 2 snapped, replace all 5 - just take one of the good ones with you when you go to buy them - I see you are in the UK, so not every shop may have them - all the more reason to bring a sample along.
  15. It is accurate, but realise that it is based on a finite number of miles and fuel used - when initially reset it is an average since reset, but the average is based on an unspecified number of miles, so what you did 2 tanks ago may affect the current reading. Note too that it depends to a minor degree on your tires, for as they wear the circumference of the tires is reduced (by 1-2%) and obviously that impacts on what the vehicle calculates the efficiency as.
  16. Welcome to the world of metallic paints and Dodge's paint methodology - the doors on my silver Crossroad likewise exhibit colour differences from the body - because apparently the various parts are painted separately. Repainting will reduce the resale value of the vehicle and will never be as good as the original, and would likely start peeling over time unless they sand to metal (and that isn't going to happen). Go look at other DJs on the dealer's lot to see if it is endemic. If it is then live with it and explain that 'they're all like that' if and when someone calls you on it.
  17. If you press the 'audio' button you will find the balance and equaliser controls. I suggest that reading the manual, rather than flipping through it might be helpful moving forward. But since you downloaded it, do a word search through the document for the word 'balance' - I believe it comes up as the second incidence of the word and you can go from there. Oh, and depending on the quality of your source material, the basic system in this vehicle happens to have excellent sound - hopefully your problem is only 'balance' and not that something is defective, since the weekend is just starting.
  18. It is possible you picked up a stone and it is wedged between the pad and the disk.
  19. I agree with your assessment - if it wasn't necessary Dodge would ever have included it - and if your vehicle is under the basic warranty still, it should be replaced and reinstalled for free. Parts are not supposed to be falling off our vehicles.
  20. There really isn't anything 'wrong' with the 4 banger - lots of CUVs weight about the same and have the same power as the 4 cylinder version - it isn't going to do any burning out and no matter which engine you get you aren't towing all that much. But for all normal driving, with the exception of high speed passes on the highway the small engine is just fine. There's a reason they offer it in almost every trim level in the US. It is old tech, but built solid.
