He's referring to a method of initiating via keypress or
numerical inputs to the radio to access internal design/engineering
menu such as you can do on many electronic systems i.e. cellfones.
Some people on this forum had great luck with their '09s
and they will attest to that fact.
The '12 has a great many refinements over '09 with the engine
being the most notable and the design/ride/interior coming right behind.
I personally would say that if you want satisfaction the '12 is best bet.
That's ok no warm (hot) air from the US is why they invented snowblowers ,

I have a number of relatives who work in the Windsor,Ontario van plant
and they have informed it is closing for approx 16 weeks.
They are going to bulldoze the guts out and rebuild for multi-platform
production.
The posted solution that owners have found is to switch
to full synthetic power steering fluid as it does not gel/thicken
in extreme cold which is the trigger for the hose failure.

I have not owned a set of winter tires since 1968 and seem to go where
I want but then again I live in a municipality with great snow removal.
2011 fill up indication was a common complaint ,and really
you can't say how much is really in the tank.
Some owners went thru software and mechanical fixes
but it was never 100% resolved.
It could be one of the speed sensors seeing it shows up on cruise ,
there are wheel speed and transmission speed sensors.
As for the electrical it is not unknown for a battery/connection
to fail at random and play havoc with the computers.
If the gas cap is the problem my '11 actually says "gas cap" in the evic display.
You may have something totally or co-incidental to the fill up so yes a code
will help sort out the source.
