Journey 2009 SXT FWD - Reverse works, but won't go foward...
bigtsr replied to NewLogik's topic in Engine & Transmission
Either the tranny is toast or the shift linkage maybe stopping at the neutral position. P_R_N_D_L -
Don't forget the DJ is built on the Avenger platform which again is not an offroad rated vehicle. As pointed out that's what sells Jeeps.

Welcome aboard . If you use the "search" function in the top right corner with "ethanol" and change the "topic" to "forums" it will return all the threads generated in this discussion, same applies to your lighting question. I think you will find these have been discussed frequently.

A little late to think about what the dealer should warranty, you should have that in writing before you sign the deal. Brakes have been a sore spot with DJs and as a wear prone/with use part have a distance travelled limited warranty on most new vehicles. Although it's a pain to have to replace them so early in your ownership if it comes down to you paying for it have them replaced with high performance/heavy duty parts and not OEM.

Many different opinions on the tow weights governing DJs after 2010, best bet is follow the manual and talk to the dealer. You didn't say if you have AWD and or the mopar tow package.
-
If you use the forum search facilty with key words "rear bumper" you will find all sorts of threads covering your inquiry.

Should be there - press lock button twice and hold the second time.

Obviously not a competent driver in the Challenger wouldn't you say! I have driven both and as much as I enjoy my DJs acceleration and overall performance for what it is I believe the guy had no guts - no glory.

In Canada the Pentastar is rated at 36 mpg (imperial gallons) highway. Another thing to note is his location - Sioux Lookout - to the uninformed this is northern Ontario location and when I was stationed there with RCAF (airforce) in the mid 1960s the only highway remotely close was the TransCanada. Maybe he bought a pre siesta built DJ.

It is ridiculous - I guess the dealer is not allowed to weld a temp repair or fabricate a support.

I agree you should check every option before throwing dollars at your problem, however if you read the posts there have been several DJ owners (2011) who have had the head replaced with regard to these symptoms- Chrysler is aware of the problem with a limited number of the 3.6s.

Mine shifts to 6th at about 63 kph in auto!!!!!!!!!!!

My 2 previous Mopars had the cargo cover (Caravan-Caliber) and all the mounting points were molded into the rear quarter panel coverings. I imagine with a little ingenuity and proper tools you could do it using the OEM cover but Webslaves concerns about clearance are valid points.

I agree with Webslave on the subject I think in the long run it could turn out to be expensive frustrating experience. Would have-should have bought a Jeep!

My next appearance Mod - Painting the...
bigtsr replied to Rubberdude88's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Looks nice and of course anything is possible if you go about in the proper manner, remember it's all in the prep and prime as to how tough and nice the finish is on the end result. -
My '11 DJ is almost 2 yrs old and other then 1 return visit to the dealer all I do is change the oil and put gas in it, on a forum you'll find happy and frustrated owners so you really have to sort out the wheat from the chaff. Brake components are probably the topic most concerns are posted about of course software (these are big laptops) updates and the "I wish" are the next most posts. Looks like a reasonable (negotiable) price for the milage,, check Kelleys Black Book current going price recommended prices.

It's been done discussed with ideas, pitfalls and solutions. I would suggest you use the forum search function using keywords.

This doesn't apply to a in the case of Caravan but it's more common to modified or turbo'd engines. You find that many of the above run "catch cans" in PCV line as the greater air pressure causes oil to blow by the rings and despite the pcv valve it passes into the filter box. It's possible the engine is just bad, only a leakdown pressure test will reveal if it's a cylinder problem.
-
A bad PCV valve can give you this condition, first place to start without costing too much. If crankcase ventilation is faulty it's one on the first signs. p.s. I think you meant to say it was the air filter not the oil filter.
-
Could it be a defective/poorly installed air diverter gate actuator? I have read of this problem and it's described as sounding like a ratcheting or machine gun sound, I hear these actuators on my DJ but they subtle/soft sounds that occur after start/stop.

Iphone 5 with uconnect
bigtsr replied to alainbock's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Some fones you can turn the BT on but you also have to make the phones BT signal visible via a second setting on the fone. I am not sure if Iphone needs this! -
The described fire event has been reported for many car models by different makers. It has little to do with the fact of the car running or not, the cause being static electrical charges. Best case scenario is to discharge yourself by touching the car door as you get out, seat material, clothing and environment all are involved in static generation.

The first thing I noted about the DJs I drove was the fact that they coasted noticeably when you up on the gas,I wrote this off having come from driving a Dodge Caliber with CVT tranny for 5 years.
