Nav screen goes blank
bigtsr replied to doubleO7's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
The nav software upgrades have reported here NOT to be free, of course unless you live in an area that has heavy development roads don't change all that much over 2-3 yrs. I would guess points of interest/service industry would be the things that need updating most often. -
I would suggest to you that's what warranties are for and you should persue that route.

Gas Mileage - This can't be right ? Help
bigtsr replied to northernwarrior's topic in Owner Impressions
This topic is an ongoing subject, yes your mpg should improve as the kms driven goes up some of the increase can be attributed to the engine wear-in factor. The other thing that has an effect on the modern computer driven cars is its ability to adjust operating factors to your style of driving-it learns by doing. You have to compare apples to apples with reference to like models such as AWD/7 seater etc along with factors such as terrain in user area. I filled up this am with 540 kms on this tank to auto shutoff it took 59.295 liters. That works out to 10.9 L/100k but again mine is FWD/V6/7 seater 95% city driven. I drive the limits and not first from light to light and our terrain is relatively hilly in nature so I am more than happy with the resulting L/100km. -

My door sticker says 36 psi or 250 kpa think you misread yours. Any how after spending many years on the road as a tech rep doing 40,000 km/yr I have always run 2 psi/14 kpa above recommended while achieving more than expected tire wear and mpg/L/100km. I was given a neat Mopar guage by my dealer years ago. Works great! http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/gallery/image/1002-photo-00004/

I am not sure if this will result in cheaper car insurance or someone keeping track of you, check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao_JXBGKEes

I have gotten in the habit of referring to it as just the "DJ". Everyone knows what I'm referring to when use the term.

There 4 kinds of people who inhabit car forums: 1-Happy owners who experience good vehicle with little expectation of everything being perfect in life. 2-Lurkers who gain from the good/bad insights of other owners good/bad. 3-Complainers who listen/look for the slightest reason to complain. 4-Concerned owners who have knowledge/insight willing to share the good/bad/ugly about the vehicles they bought. The percentage versus population of DJs is greater in Canada than the US,not unusual here to see many in daily use.

2013 R/T to receive new high performance suspension
bigtsr replied to EBK's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
The quiet ride is what first attracted me to the DJ. Hiway speeds you can actually carry on normal conversations and bumps in the road are just dull thumps at best. Many people who have driven with me in the city ask if the DJ has always ridden this quiet and smooth. I once carried 12 large bags of Scotts topsoil in the rear(512 liters) at 65 lbs each and the DJ was barely an inch lower than stock height. -
DISCONNECT the DJs battery as the seats/active head supports are linked to airbag system. Better safe than sorry!
-
What you accomplish by disconnecting the battery is a RESET of the TIPM (totally Integrated Power Module) this can resolve many of quirky problems that pop up from time to time. Bless the almighty computer!!!!!!!

2012 SXT rattle in front end/suspension under 30MPH.
bigtsr replied to dolphinsrule65's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Check the the plastic front end parts i.e. wheel well liners, wiper shield/deflector and front air deflectors. In the past they have been the source of speed related noise on several Mopar models. -
Distortion Through USB, CD player, AUX
bigtsr replied to gradoman's topic in Accessories, Modifications
From the number I see on the road in our city I think we have captured the market. -
There are numerous post on this forum with regard to steelies for the DJ some even provide the part #'s from Costco and Cantire. I drove a '07 Caliber SXT for 5yrs before moving to the DJ and the two things I miss most are the sportier drive/handling and the CVT. The DJ rides like your on a cloud and is dead quiet tho and that is a plus as far as I'm concerned.

scan of April 2013 mpg -
It would seem with the warmer temps and fuel supply changing to summer/warm wx formulation mpg/L per 100km is improving. Actual hand figured results for my last tank filled as always to auto shutoff.

Congrats on the purchase-lots of great info here.

5 Seater or 7 Seater
bigtsr replied to crepead's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Honestly my 3rd row has been folded down since it was new. I sat in the 3rd row once when cleaning out the DJ and with the other seats set to proper spacing I fitted in nicely but a long trip would be a problem-I am 6'2" 220 lbs. I was concerned about the extra weight but as I only put on about 12-15000 kms per yr it's not going to break the bank as with 95% of my driving being city it average 11.2 L/100km. -
I use the recommended oil and I think they owe you an explanation.

If coolant is too low you can cause rad boil and the gases produced escape as the system is designed to the catch/fill bottle from which the gases or overheated coolant smell can escape. Top up the fluid drive and retop to see if this is the reason.
