5 Seater or 7 Seater
bigtsr replied to crepead's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
The only reason I have the 7 seat is that after walking out of the sales dept several times they offered to deduct the $1300 off for the 3rd row,I was only wanting a 5 passenger. -
Looks good Rolly! I use Macqires car wash soap and finish off with a coat of NU FINISH polymer. One problem that usually crops up on the newer vehicles is the plastics start to dull and go greyish and for that I use Mothers Back to Black, however have been contemplating using this new product "Wipe New" which can be purchased at 'As Seen on TV" stores-might be too good to be true product tho.

Engine check light on and no oomph...
bigtsr replied to Sazzleevans's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Don't know where your located i.e. NA or Euro! If it,s a CRD DJ could be fuel filter or turbo problems. If it's gas engine sounds as if it's in LIMP mode. Possible that you have bad fuel or put diesel itnto gas tank,I noted a TV news article last week with a number of occurences of diesel being put in gas station tanks in error. -
Mine are quite simple to close,I would check and make someone has not had the removable part out and put them in backwards-mine won't close if I do that.

How has the heating been this winter? It could be an air lock in the coolant path thru the heater core, this can cause overflow from coolant bottle and the smell.

which journey is the best to buy
bigtsr replied to Diesel79's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Horse=1760 lbs Trailer=2200 lbs Load=3960 lbs I would say if your doing any hauling in NZ hilly terrain to look for something that is built for the task. -
Hid in high beam, what about the drl
bigtsr replied to CorbeilS's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I won't pretend to know the procedure nor the rules for new vehicle type acceptance but your right about the LED lights on many of the new vehicles. I would imagine that passing would be as simple as following the preset height and lumen standards of the original passcodes. -

Custom modified (hotrods) are not illegal in Canada, we have many street legal gofast pieces of gear on the roads. Having said that I believe Bramfranks point is that when it comes to mandated things such as headlights if a cop gets cranky he can play hardball by playing strictly by the federally mandated regulations. We here in Ontario have a regular mandated vehicle inspection which is scheduled for 7 yrs after date of manufacture but it is aimed only at pollution controls,if the Ministry of Transport wants they can pull your car/truck/trailer off the road at any of their unsheduled hiway inspections. I have never had any of my modded cars fail any inspection, they don't go out of their way to nail you except on slow times or you piss them off in anyway. -
Hell I wore my shorts today because it was 51f and raining here. Of course I live in southern Canada.

service awd message along with some other lights
bigtsr replied to Canadian Paul's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
It could be as simple as a bad tire as the system detects by ongoig diagnostics of AWD when a wheel/tire is not in sync. How many miles on DJ? Have you rotated tires frequently? -
battery life
bigtsr replied to 2late4u's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Since 1984 I have driven Mopars only and the batteries have averaged abt 3yrs each,my Caliber made it 4 yrs before it failed. -
As I said sometimes it's by circumstance, you find yourself in a situation and any way out is the better choice. I drove my '07 Caliber for 5 yrs and other than some suspension repairs it was a great car, just got tired of driving smaller car after 4 Caravans.

I am not saying this the case in this instance but some people are in the habit of rolling old debt into new debt. Some car dealers just love to say "sure we'll pay off your remaining debt on the trade-in". They along with the financing body then just sock it to people who either by habit or circumstance buy cars this way = high monthly payments.

Fob not locking or unlocking
bigtsr replied to Rakvilla's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
First thought would be new battery in the fob! Second thought would be to reset the TIPM by disconecting the battery for 10-15 minutes letting residual charge drain off the system. If both fobs act exactly the same then it could be the module for interface. There have been reports also of it acting differenly when in park or neutral which leads to a home position switch on shifter. -
Terry I may have misled you but I don't have the Electronic Messaging frame myself. I have looked at them in the past at Cantire and Costco but they really don't suit my needs with regards to protecting my one of a kind hamradio callsign plates. I was merely suggesting if someone wanted a custom frame the electronic version would allow them to customize the message.

No doubt that the system from DJ to DJ has inaccuracies however remembering that the fuel pump is located in the tank itself Mopar is probably building in a safety margin as the fuel is used as a coolant for the pump itself. If the tank was to run dry no coolant and an overheated pump becomes a liability.
-
You could also buy an electronic messaging frame and change it when and to what you want to display anytime. I have dedicated one of a kind plates since about 1980 and have always used a protective lexan cover plate protecter and although they are starting to show their age it's my personal preference.

I at one time had a Plymouth Voyageur with bad valve GUIDES which caused high oil usage with no visible signs. Carguy1709 is right about the PCV valve system causing a similar problem which is sometimes the source of oil residue in the air cleaner box assy.

Mine are about 1/3 the way from front of each muffler and as I have a sloping driveway going down under the house they usually drain as I back down into the garage.

5 Seater or 7 Seater
bigtsr replied to crepead's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
My '11 SXT has extra ceiling vents for the 3rd row but your right there are no extra floor vents. -
There are no turbo 3.6 L DJs and all come with the air induction path you describe. Afraid it's just a standard DJ like my '11 SXT.

NEVER perform electrical work on modern vehicles without diconnecting the battery. They have so many computer(s) linked in the electrical system that one short can do more harm than it's worth to save a few minutte.
