Key not detected
bigtsr replied to walker's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
I can't say for fact but the design of the fob/ingnition circuitry should not allow that to ever happen, the fob also has RFID chip in it which is active even with out functioning battery. If the battery dies you can push the start/stop physically with the fob and the DJ will still start(supposedly). -

Yes mine does the same thing-until it gets out rf range then continuous warning alarm. -

"Engine is supposed to shut off when attempting to drive with no fob." This has been discussed before and apparently although this is what we would hope/want to happen is not the reality of the DJ operation. The person who drives it away would shut it off and then not be able to restart it. -

If you start the DJ then get out does the alert/message screen beep and tell you the keyfob has left the car? -
After 15 months of driving the '11 DJ V6 I am completely satisfied with the purchase as well as the dealership. With 10-11 L/100km 95% city and gitty up and go of a small V8 I knew what I was buying and todate it has delivered.

Congrats and enjoy the DJ great value for the money.

Journey won't start. Stranded in Michigan
bigtsr replied to fmjcafe's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
That would indicate the electrical circuit for PARK/NEUTRAL start is faulty. Either a switch or interlock cable adjustment would appear to be the problem. Some Chrysler cars use a cable actuated interlock system and these can either stretch or pop out of the cable path locks. -
"cannot figure out how to change batteries in the fobs. Any suggestions???" Release the "emergency" entry key from fob and use standard screwdriver in top opening to pry fob open. My "11 sxt fwd will spin the tire(s) under hard acceleration on asphalt!

Discouraging to say the least! I hope they gave you a loaner,as they say stuff happens even with a new purchase. Give them fair chance to remedy the problem but keep the pressure on them until your happy and confident about the situaion.

"Did I get ripped 4 standard lugs?" Sounds like it-mine were the jack well in a plastic bag along with the lock lug key.

Is it really this difficult?...The trailer wiring saga continues...

A Niagara Region "bumper"-after too much grape juice! -
You can reset it as often as you like, resetting with every fill will cause you have the algorithym used in the EVIC giving you discouraging reports. When you have a full tank mpg/l per 100km is always the worst,if you can resist the urge to reset then longterm readout will reflect a more favourable averaging for your type of driving because enviroment, driving style etc.

2012 trans feels as if it is slipping

Definitely BS time at your so called dealership, who's the service advisor the lot boy!!!!!!!!!!!! Journey 4 cyl auto is 4 spd not a CVT that they described-only the Caliber came equipped with the CVT. -
Just a thought-I haven't tried this yet, don't use the SYNC function for heater/ac in the rear. If you use the second row controls and crank the heat up you may have a better outcome with regards rear area heating.

All major refiners alter formulation (have for yrs) to promote easier starting/less water retention in their fuels. This is also a matter of climate/degree days so some areas i.e. Florida don't necessarily fall under the scheme. The additives used have the sideeffects of reduced mpg but easier starting in cold climates.
-
Don't forget we are also using winter gas formulation at this point in time = worse L/100km .
-
"In Ontario are you mandated to put on winter tires like Quebec? No Ontario has not implemented this,I have not used snowtires since 1969 and have been stuck only 1 time in all these years. That was in my '82 Camaro during record snowfall in Toronto.

Your EVIC averages could have been altered by the amount of idle time while at the dealer-who knows how long it sat running while in their possesion. I guess if you really want to be picky you could note the total engine hours run on the evic when you bring it in and when you pick it up.

Do you have the '11 DJ parts pdf file? It gives you illustrated pic of everything. -
If you can look on the drivers door of each at the MDH and post the different build dates some owners may appreciate it.

I have had all my new Chrysler products done by the dealer and have never had a problem with the coatings they applied. Having said that I have for many years applied a coat of NU-Finish polymer after 6 months of ownership and when I trade them in they always comment how great the finish is for a 4-5 yr old car. They had a special on when I bought the DJ and paid $411.00 for undercoat, upholstery protection and paint sealant.

Congrats and enjoy!

I may have missed it but has anyone checked these so called replacement rims for the proper OFFSET spec for the 2012 DJ with larger brake specs?? Rim size and bolt pattern being 2 specs but OFFSET is important also.

Obviously you had it towed/trailered to the dealer after the problem because a blown connecting rod would not allow the engine to run. Most times it will destroy much of the associated parts.
