Out of curiousity do you leave the headlights on AUTO? When your not using the DJ how far away do you keep your fobs? Could it have been the electronics sensing and initiating over and over thet did the battery in?

First service trip at 4500 miles
bigtsr replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Recognizing that the PCM has no moving parts and is completely reprorammable they are cutting costs by doing just that,as long as it performs as programmed I don't think I would be concerned. -
My '11 has 2 strips of yellow glue also But without going out to check(I maybe wrong) aren't they on the input side of the filter?

Check the 2nd switches and/or close the 3rd row ceilig vents and see if that makes a difference. Yes it does get very hot in southern Canada and we even have a few deserts/arid regions-we're not all Eskimos.

You would think any Dodge dealer would stock the fuse but be prepared to pay top price. Ebay or a local automotive supply if you have access to more than one would seem to be the next logical step. Pep or NAPA autoparts.

4.3 Backup Camera Install
bigtsr replied to jkevinmcg's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
The equipment I use has all been discontinued or replaced in the marketplace by newer versions from the same maker. The hook ups for most of the availiable units is actually fairly straightforward and simple when you use wireless camera to wireless receiver. Receiver is standalone mounted in front where you want and plugged into 12vdc outlet(key operated) at front of center console. The wireless camera you mount on license plate mounts and route wires to follow existing wires for plate lights, the power for the camera is(if done correctly)derived by tapping off the backup light wires - + so cam comes on only when you put into reverse. I didn't wire to back up lights (lazy) and just took power from 12 vdc outlet in rear cargo area (key operated) which means the camera is on all the time the DJ is running. The one thing with the new model cars (Chrysler) is that the TIPM is sensitive to current changes within the vehicle so it is advisable to use relays to tap power from existing power sources using the relays to enable operating voltages/currents directly from the battery (or rear dc outlet). I have bought several electronic items from China and todate have not had a problem they deliver quickly and with no duties to Canada and for the price all have done what they are intended to accomplish. -
Mine has Nitrogen fill from new-check and see if you have a green valve cap on tire stems that one way they id it. Much controversy over pros and cons-after all the air we breathe is 80% nitrogen and yes I know the molecules are larger but it doesn't help rim leaks or punctures. It expands and contracts with almost the same curves as air.

Probably not a big deal when comes to wiring in the shift console, parallel wire the switches for manual mode. The toughest part would be in the steering wheel where you would have to add secondary clockspring to accommodate paddle electrical path.

Well it's just the way I set up the app initially so it's a normal figure to me sorry for the confusion. Spent all day yesterday driving around GTA in heavy traffic and filled up last nite beat the hell out of milage but year to-date it works out to 11.92 L/100km or 23.7 mpg IMP and 19.73 US gal. When I want to convert things I have always used this site http://www.tdiclub.com/misc/conversions.html
-
I understand the confusion but I did not say"8.6 L/100 km" What I said was "8.6 kilometers PER LITER". There is no way anyone will get or expect "8.6 L/100 km" city with the Pentastar.

Just as an aid to those looking for trailer items I thought I would add this link for Princess Auto. I have no interest or nothing to gain by posting it but for people looking who don't know about it possibly it will help. They ship to US also. http://www.princessauto.com/pal/category/1100-310-005-030-005/Connectors/adapters

DASH LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN I TURN WIPERS ON
bigtsr replied to tulipwhh's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
The reason for this that you have the headlights set to come on when the wipers are turned on. You can turn off this feature in the settings screen or you can turn on the headlights manually when you have the wipers on and adjust the dash lights. -
The 8.6 kilometer per liter figure is the cumulative result shown in the cost/expense software I use and covers from Jan 1st 2012 to last fillup May 29 2012. During that period I had a round trip non stop to Windsor/Detroit area which on the return with tailwind on cruise @ 105 km/hr the EVIC was reporting 7.4L / 100km,when I filled up tho it worked out to 7.7 in reality. Your right abt the 10.693 figure as that was for the 381 km before that fill up (saw cheap gas) of the 381kms only 30kms were hiway at abt 105km/hr.
-
Another thing that I can note is that when I fill up my DTE(drive to empty) usually resets 695-728 km. That indicates that the algorythm tracking the EVIC L/100 is also reporting very good milage. My last fill up was for 381km 40.744L fuel 381/100 = 3.81 40.744 / 3.81 = 10.693L/100km (26.43 mpg Imp 22.0 USA) cost $ .13249 / km @ $1.239 / litre of Shell Bronze Of course it's FWD and not lugging all that extra AWD gear.

I was on the road for 35 yrs as a tech mgr and have used a tracking program to take care of vehicle maintenance and write-offs. Still using it every fillup is entered and it gives me all the averages ongoing, when I gas up I always fill up to auto shut off and no more. Over the yrs I have developed a driving style that promotes good mpg and wear averages. My brakes usually goto 75000-90000 kms,I use downshifting and anticipate lite changes along with the fact the DJ coasts like no Mopar I have ever owned. I would have loved the CVT in this DJ similar to the one I had in my '07 Caliber which usually achieved 29 - 31 mpg for my driving. That's 8.6 kilometers per litre!
-
Since January 1st my average k/l reads out at 8.6 or abt 24.1 mpg CAN with 95% city driving. Not as good as the Caliber/CVT but I am ok with those results.

Rearview Camera
bigtsr replied to tahirjadoon's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I received the CanTire flyer this week with backup cams in it including the one in the rearview mirror. I like the Chromatic mirror in the DJ. Magellan did make a gps with the wireless rearview cam and they can be found on Ebay at http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Magellan-RM1700-7-GPS-w-LICENSE-PLATE-MOUNT-REAR-REARVIEW-CAMERA-/200749597816?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2ebd9bc478
