  1. Has it ever needed top up of oil between changes since you have owned it? Is there oil on the ground/floor where you park? Three reason oil can be used during operation: 1.PCV(positive crankcase ventilation) valve is stuck open in which case you will find raw oil in the intake breather box. 2.Piston rings are not sealing properly. 3.Valve guides are worn/faulty. The dipstick showing no reading is definitely not normal at your low milage.
  2. Just check the MDH on drivers door sticker=Month/Day/Hour of build.
  3. Yes the battery location gave me some cause for concern also, after owning a Caliber where it was accessible and somewhat protected it's different. My concern was that on the Caliber if you had any funny electrical problems you could reset the CanBus/TIPM back to programmed or neutral state by disconnecting the battery and holding the cables together and drain residual system charge level.
  4. I believe the owners manual states that you can't flat tow AWD Journeys. You will damge the drive train.

    Floor mats

Or you can do as I did in post #28 in this thread because I wanted the WeatherTech mats. Let me assure you this carpet will not tear because you move the hook. Lift the sill plate and see how thick and tough the carpeting in the DJ really is,10-15 minutes job tops.
  6. Is there the possibility that those features only appear on the top of the line US model? My fob only has remote start but it does have the extended long press on the UNLOCK button that will lower the driver and passenger windows automatically. Maybe they have a mixed up a review for another model/make.
  7. Definitely not the way brakes on my 2011 DJ work or sound. You are getting the run around,I know dealers can far and few between in Australia but maybe you need to park it across their service bay doors and demand serious consideration. Call your Aussie Chrysler main office and complain.
  8. 1. There's a lag (as if it stopped taking any input from the gas pedal, rpm would drop, then rise back up) right before the transmission shifts to second gear. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? 2. I think the rear climate system is really loud, especially on the right side at the 3rd row. 3. After 600km, the L/100KM figure is still quite high, averaging at around 20L/100KM from mostly city driving. Will it improve over time? 4. Anyway to reset the UConnect(4.3) radio presets, or maybe reset the entire system to factory settings? 1.If I accelerate slowly(featherfooting) I feel a slight lag just before 2000 rpm shift, Doesn't exist if I accelerate quickly. 2. I closed all the rear ceiling vents and aimed them towards the rear, also as I generally don't have anyone in the rear seats I shut off rear system via climate set. 3. Should improve with kms,try what I suggested in my other post with regards to reset. 4.You can change presets by simply tuning to station you want and touch/hold the the previous preset you don't want-works like that on my 4.3
  9. RickyCheung if you want to something do this get on a flat stretch of road at the legal limit, then let up on the gas. You should see the visual red bar drop below 10.0 at this point in time press the RIGHT arrow to reset algorythm to base setting or 0.0 k/100km. Watch your average to see if it goes back up to your high readings. Smart injector system in theory should be working if it is when you let up on gas visual should drop usually below 10-12. This is how my '11 DJ is working.
  10. Not trying to be smart ass here but seriously "buy a good tire gauge". Run the DJ till tires are warmed up then fill to specs on the label stuck on the drivers door frame. Cold wx and where you park at nite(in garage or outside) will show differnt readings but you have to start at the "NORM" to make the evic reliable.
  11. I have spent quite a lot of time on "car forums" for the different Chrysler products I have owned over the years and mpg/L/100kms is a neverending topic. People become upset sometimes obsessed with their choice of vehicle/drive trains. The first thing they do nowdays is question other owners with regards to numbers. What they should realize is that each vehicles gas consumption is the product of their individual driving habits(of each user),their enviromental factors and the seasonal characteristics of the fuel used. If you were to look at my evic right now you would say wow, reads 8.9 L/100km. Well that's the result of the resetting of the reading on an 80 km round trip in the hills surrounding my area,I simply reset on the downside of the first 4% grade. I coast on downgrades(DJs coast like soapbox racers) and use cruise where practical and safe. Point is "you makes your choice and you pays your money" and if you want better milage change your driving style, keep your tires inflated, run synthetic oil or drive something else.
  12. I have owned many Chrysler products and have NEVER experienced the melted socket,I believe you you have an odd incident of water penatration causing a short in the socket. I believe they will just replace the pigtail and socket assy which makes the most sense. "she also said that it is a common issue for some Chrysler products," is one of those I'll make you feel good statements that covers her butt and gets you out of her hair.
  13. Yes there has been one on every new Chrysler I have owned since 1984 although I never have personally needed to use it as I keep them in a heated garage under the house.
  14. In as much that it is normally on when you start the car I personally don't give it much thought. I have tried it on and off in wet wx with some hope that it might show a differnce but it was not discernable to me.
  15. I previously drove a Dodge Caliber for 5-1/2 yrs so was active in that community. Many of the US owners on that forumz wanted to run DRL's and found they had to be activated by the dealer via Starscan programming/diagnostics system. They were charged about $75 and no other parts were required. Is it possible this is all that's required with DJ's?
  16. In 1985 I bought a Plymouth Voyergeur caravan and in the first 6 months it was using oil like in a similar fashion as your experiencing. I was told the same cock and bull story about the consumption by the dealership service mgr where I bought it in Missisauga. I refused to believe it and made an appointment at a dealer here in Burlington that afternoon. I told the service mgr here of the oil consumption and he immediately gave me a loaner and told me that it was a known problem-turned out to be bad valve guides, they replaced the guides and oil consumption stopped immediately. I have had many Chrysler cars (all new) since that day and have never had to top up the oil between oil changes. If it was as simple as the PCV valve you will find raw oil pooled in your air cleaner box and lots of it. Find another dealer the one you have now is full of crap.
  17. My '11 DJ SXT Pentastar with 17' rims 225-17-65's 250kpa/36 lbs for both front and rear on the door tag. KUMHO Solous tires fyi.
  18. If you go to Dodge.ca and check out the build characteristics of '11 and '12 Journey RT's you will see that in Canada the RT model only comes in AWD configuration.
  19. It certainly could be the solenoid pack, sounds as if the higher pressure is not actuating the system. 45k miles -2010 powertrain should still be under warranty and possibly all it needs is a flush/filter to clear debris from pressure points. I would definitely do a dealer visit on this problem.
  20. I have used Shell "bronze" 87 exclusively for the last 7 yrs and have never experienced a rough idle and I am using it now in my '11 DJ SXT Pentastar again I am not experiencing a rough idle at the 3000 km mark. I might suggest you fill up at different stations to see if possibly your buying gas with high humidity/water content if you have used the same station. Generally Chrysler has always advised that you should use the octane the motor is designed to use,you might also want to try a can of gasline antifreeze to see if that creates a change.
  21. In my '11 SXT you can turn the rear climate controls off from the touch screen.
  22. Yes I have 2 childrens safety car seats in the second row of my "11 SXT and they both fit well,in fact there is still room for the center arm rest with the 2 cup holders to come down.
  23. It is mandatory for Canada. Mine is hard to see, between the TIPM (underhood fuse assy) and the drivers side fender wall. It's all black and the plug has a protective black snap cover.
  24. There was a notice on ALLPAR about approx 760 Pentastar engines being recalled by Chrysler/Dodge as they were known to be defective,so you may want to check it out. Dealers in general are usually aware of recalls but you can't trust these things to them be proactive call Chrysler,be the sqeaky wheel and if you find someting in print take it to the dealer and confront them visually in a calm assertive manner. I would not settle for being stuck with a new vehicle that does not make happy! Customer Assistance Center Canada 800-465-2001
