  1. Nope, that hasn't changed. The painted aluminum wheels are standard on the Crew and the chrome clad wheels are a $500 option.
  2. Do you know why the Crew can't be configured with the WPX wheels? You can try it using "Build Your Own" at dodge.com. The chrome clad wheels (which are a $500 option) are automatically selected. You can try to deselect them or select the painted aluminum wheels, but it doesn't let you. All other options can be selected or deselected, just not the wheels. Ordinarily, I would guess that's just a glitch with the web site, but the same thing happened when my dealer placed the order for my Crew. No matter what they did, the chrome wheels kept getting added to the order automatically and could not be removed. That's why I was thinking there may be a shortage of the regular painted aluminum 19" wheels.
  3. That's entirely possible. I also ended up adding the rear seat entertainment option, which had the same late availability. Although, the timing sounds about on par with what others have reported. Were you able to order yours without chrome wheels?
  4. Chris, do you know if there's a shortage on the standard Crew or R/T wheels? The order for my Crew couldn't be configured without the chrome clad wheels. And the Dodge website still doesn't let you configure a Crew without the chrome wheels. The standard wheels are still listed, but it doesn't let you deselect the chrome wheels and select the standard wheels.
  5. "Days prior" is probably a bit of an exaggeration. I ordered mine with the 8.4 on October 13th. I sure hope mine arrives before Christmas. I don't have a way to track it now that access to Insight has been removed.
  6. It was probably actually in a late batch for a 2011. My understanding is that the parts for the 8.4 became scarce after the earthquake in Japan. So late 2011 builds and early 2012 builds ended up with the 4.3. The 8.4 just became available again for builds after 11/1/11. As a matter of fact, I haven't heard any reports from anyone with an 8.4 in a 2012 yet. I'd be happy to be the first if my car would hurry up and get here!
  7. Intentionally disabling DRLs seem like a waste of time. I never knew there were a lot of people out there that do that. Every car I've owned for many years has had DRLs. I really don't like the idea of not having them, which is why I'm disappointed that my Journey probably won't have them. I don't understand why any manufacturer would disable them in the American version of their cars just because they're not legally required. The parts are all there, so it's not like they're saving any money. And since the uconnect system gives the option of turning them on and off, why not have them working on every car? If somebody really doesn't want them, they can just turn them off. Instead they deprive American owners of an important safety feature just because it's not required. I read in another thread that somebody was successful in getting them enabled on their American Journey. Chrysler had to add the sales code for DRLs to their VIN, and then the dealer had to flash the computer with that info. That's what I'm going to try to do if my car comes without functioning DRLs.
  8. I didn't know we were? I'm upset that my Journey may not have them. I wish they were required in the US I wouldn't have to wonder.
  9. Cool. I hope you do end up with the right wheels and the logo with the red stripes. I'm hoping mine has them as well.
  10. It's probably worth having your dealer inquire with Chrysler about the wheels. At least then you can start working with them on a resolution now if they discover that it really will be shipped with chrome. They could probably find an R/T at another dealer that they could swap with one on their lot to get a hold of the R/T wheels if they had to. I'm sure they'd rather do that then lose the sale.
  11. What trim level is your Journey? Most reports from US Journey owners say that turning the DRLs on though the 8.4 screen doesn't seem to actually turn them on.
  12. Agreed. When my dealer told me that I had to get the chrome wheels, I told them that I won't buy the car then. They quickly agreed to swap the wheels and deduct the $500 upgrade charge when it comes in. Luckily, they still have a couple cars on the lot with standard Crew wheels. I'd rather have the R/T wheel color actually, but they don't have any R/Ts on the lot.
  13. Yup, it's not supposed to. But it's also not supposed to come with the 4.3 inch display. That didn't stop them from shipping them with the 4.3 when the 8.4 wasn't available. Hopefully, you'll get the wheels you want, but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes with chrome wheels like mine. It will probably be pretty easy to get the dealer to not charge you for them, but that's not much of a help if you don't want the wheels.
  14. I wouldn't be too sure about that. When I ordered my Crew, the chrome wheels kept getting automatically added to the order. My dealer tried to remove them, but the system wouldn't let them be removed. You can try this yourself by going to dodge.com and trying to configure a Crew without the chrome wheels. They're selected as an option, and it won't let you select the regular alloy Crew wheels. This doesn't show up for the R/T because the $500 chrome wheels aren't even supposed to be available as an option in R/T trim. It would appear that the 19" regular alloy wheels that are used on the Crew and R/T are not available for some reason. I know that they're a slightly different color between the trims, but the wheels are the same before they're painted. Since I don't want the chrome wheels (especially not at $500), my dealer is going to swap the wheels with a 2011 Crew that they have on the lot (and deduct the $500 chrome charge). You should probably check with your dealer to see if they have an R/T on the lot just in case yours ends up with wheels you don't want. If the chrome wheels are showing up on the feature list for your VIN from Chrysler, that's probably what it will come with.
  15. Based on the time it took for mine to make it through all of the stages in the VOTS system, I would say that it's going to have to enter framing soon to be shipped by 12/16. For what it's worth, my original ship estimate was 11/25, and it ended up shipping 11/28. The latest estimate for delivery is 12/19.
  16. That's a bummer that it was delayed for a new build, but it's good they caught the problem so you don't end up with a lemon. Mine has apparently shipped, but they've removed access to the Insight system so I don't have any way to track it.
  17. Yeah, this is Chrysler's "SmartBeam" technology. It's mentioned in the Journey owner's manual and it shows up in Journey how-to videos, but it would appear that it's never actually been offered as an option on the Journey. It is an option on the Charger and Chrysler 300.
  18. Did you get your car yet? I would think you should be pretty close by now.
  19. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/28/2012-dodge-journey-fiat-500-recalled-over-contaminated-brake-fl/
  20. According to the VOTS system, my car has now moved to the "shipment" stage. The only stage left after "shipment" is "delivery". There isn't any information shown other than that fact that it's in that stage, so it appears that I'll be flying blind until it arrives. I don't suppose there's any possible way to get Insight access restored for a couple of weeks so that I can track the shipment? It's really a bummer that they removed access to the tracking tool right before my car is shipping.
  21. I don't see why not. They're switching from 4.3" screens to 8.4" screens during the model year due to parts availability, which is a bigger change than the badging since there's a price difference. Maybe those little red stripes have been hard to come by
  22. Maybe it's late availability, like the 8.4 screen. I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks as special orders begin to arrive.
  23. There's a picture on that page of a Journey towing a trailer with some small boats on it. It definitely looks like a conventional horizontal hitch instead of the Mopar vertical hitch. But it looks like it comes right out of the facia instead of beneath it like aftermarket hitches. What's up with that?
