Yup, that appears to be the case. There's another thread on here that talks about it. It appears that the dealer would need to call Chrysler and have them add the sales code for DRL to your vehicle in their system. Then, after 24 hours, the dealer should be able to flash that to your car via StarScan. I'll ask the dealer to do that for me once my car arrives.

Do any American versions come with daytime running lights? According to the 2012 spec sheet, DRLs are optional on the AVP and SE trims but not available on the SXT, Crew, and R/T. Why would that be?
-
I thought the DJ does have DRLs, no? Can't you turn them on and off through the Uconnect screen?

Thanks for measuring that for me. It looks like the Whispbar Rail S45 is adjustable from 38.5 inches to 42.5 inches, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Is there something unique about the shape of the side rails on the Journey or do they seem to be shaped like most other side rails out there?

It's the looks. I'm not too concerned about gas mileage. I like the look of the OEM crossbars, but they aren't lockable. The Whispbar crossbars have an OEM type look, but can be locked. I just don't understand why they wouldn't be compatible with the Journey's roof rails. Maybe it's because the distance between the rails is different in the front and back? Can you do me a favor and measure the distance between the inside of the rails? Thanks!

Never mind. I emailed Chrysler directly and got the full VIN. My car is currently "Scheduled for Production" and is estimated to ship on 11/25.

How did you get the full VIN to use the Insight tracking system? I got an email from Chrysler today saying that my car is scheduled from production, but it only has the last 8 digits of the VIN. That's enough for the VOTS tracking system, but that doesn't seem to have as much info as the Insight system. Thanks!

100 Days and counting

I thought they weren't taking orders for 2012 models until September. I know there were a lot of options that were labeled as "late availability". If they took your order in July, it's probably just been sitting and waiting for parts. Some of the parts (like the 8.4 inch screen) supposedly weren't available until November 1st. -
Has anyone tried Yakima Whispbar Rails on their Journey? They look like a great alternative to the OEM crossbars. The Yakima fit guide doesn't list them as fitting the Journey, but I'm not sure why. They come in a lot of different lengths, so I can't figure out why they wouldn't fit. http://www.yakima.com/whispbar/whispbar-s41-rail

It's probably similar to the lifetime powertrain warranty that Chrysler was doing a while back. It must have been costing them more in repairs than it was making them in additional sales, because they dropped it in 2010.

Doesn't do a whole lot of good for Americans at this point either since the Lux has been discontinued. It doesn't look like the free maintenance plan is being offered on any trim level for 2012.

Sirius BackSeat TV?
generaltso replied to generaltso's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I didn't realize there wasn't a backseat entertainment option for the 2011. I ordered my 2012 with it, but there's no mention of Sirius Backseat TV being included with it, so I'd be surprised if it comes with it. -
The chart that you're looking at on page 457 is just giving you the definitions of the towing classes. It's not implying that those are the towing capacities of the Journey. You should be looking at page 458 for the towing capacity of the Journey. The 2011 had a different chart for Journey's equipped with the tow prep package. The 2012 manual combined those into one and now lists the max towing capacity as 2500 pounds. That being said, I have no doubt that the 2012 could tow 3500 pounds since its basically the same as the 2011. However, if there was some kind of problem caused by towing over 2500 pounds, Chrysler would have an excused not to cover it under warranty.

What is so good about the R/T?
generaltso replied to Estoyloco's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Yeah, the roof rails and chrome accents on the Crew are the only obvious differences. The wheels are a slightly different color too, but it's pretty subtle. -

What is so good about the R/T?
generaltso replied to Estoyloco's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Yeah, but it says the same thing for the Crew. It's looking like the "Performance" suspension and "Touring" suspension are the same thing. Not to be confused with the "Normal-Duty" suspension that seems to only come with the 4-cylinder engine. -

According to this, the Crew and R/T have the same Touring Suspension. I guess the "Performance" suspension is gone? Of course, it also says that Daytime Running Lights are not available on the Crew and R/T but are optional on the two lowest trims. That doesn't make much sense. -

Don't rely on the Dodge website to detail what's included in the different trims and packages. The R/T wasn't even listed as an available trim for 2012 until today. I believe the biggest component of the R/T upcharge is the standard leather seats. That's a $500 option on the Crew. The R/T also doesn't come with the roof rails anymore. Those have to be added as an option even though they're standard on the Crew. -
Anyone know what the deal is with Sirius BackSeat TV? It looks like it got all kinds of hype from Chrysler a couple years ago and was included as an OEM option on the 09 and 10 Journey. But all mention of it seems to have vanished starting with the 2011 model year, so I'm guessing that it's no longer an option. In looking around, I've noticed that the aftermarket BackSeat TV tuner has been discontinued. I called SiriusXM and asked if the service is being discontinued. They said that the service is alive and well, but only comes on new Chrysler vehicles. Anyone know anything about it?
