From the album: 2012 Dodge Journey Crew AWD

Haha, nope it wasn't. I knew I wanted the 8.4" screen so they gave me a 2011 with the 8.4 to try out.
-
Yes, but not all do, so make sure the one you're looking at has Bluetooth. It's easy to tell, just make sure there's a phone button on the steering wheel.

Start with your dealer. If you don't get anywhere, call Chrysler Customer Care.

Is this an aftermarket Nav system?
-
Although it's an old post, I think the original question was specifically about the Smart Start system, which is the Viper remote start that uses a smartphone app to start your car via cell towers. My DJ has the factory remote start built-in, but I'm also wondering if it would be possible to integrated the Smart Start system with it. It would be great to be able to start, lock, or unlock the car from anywhere even if you're nowhere near it.

I took my first road trip as well last week to upstate New York (about 4 hours each way). I had my wife in the front, my grandmother and 9 year old in the 2nd row and my 7 year old in the 3rd row. Comfort was not an issue for any of us. With half the 3rd row up, trunk space was a bit cramped. I have a Yakima cargo box on top that I've been using for snowboards, but it came in handy for luggage on this trip. The Navigation system worked great, and the rear seat entertainment was fantastic for the kids. I hooked up an external Sirius Backseat TV receiver, which gave the kids live TV the whole way there and kept them quiet

Nice! You definitely did very well.

Lockpick for uconnect touch
generaltso replied to moondwagon's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Yeah, packing all the extra wires back in was definitely the hardest part. Everything works fine, but it's annoying that the Nav always reads your speed as 0mph when Override is enabled. I know this is part of the lockpick tricking the head unit into thinking it isn't moving, but it's still annoying. Without it, I often notice the speed on the Nav turn red when I inadvertently go over the speed limit. It's not like I can't live without that, but it's a feature I like. Now I find myself constantly turning the Override function on and off constantly as I need it. I'd much rather be able to leave Override on all the time but also have the Nav display the proper speed. Doesn't look like there's a way to do that though. -
Just put on my General Altimax Arctic winter tires - wow!
generaltso replied to Geer's topic in Lounge
Each sidewall has an arrow pointing to the direction of rotation, so yes it's up to the installer to make sure they mount them correctly. My Michelins came from Tire Rack already mounted on wheels, so they had stickers on each one to mark it as driver's side or passenger's side. I always triple check the arrows when I swap my winter tires to make sure I'm putting them on the correct side. I also mark the position with chalk when I take them off so I can make sure the fronts go to the rear and vice versa next season. So far, I really like the Xi2 tires. They're super quiet, but I've only had a couple of inches of snow to take them through so far. I need a good foot to really put them through their paces. -
Songs Start Over?
generaltso replied to generaltso's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Now that I've had some time to test this, I've discovered that songs only start over when playing the iPod. If I'm playing music from an SD card, the song starts from where it left off after cycling the ignition. Not sure why there's a difference in behavior. The constant re-cataloging of the music content affects both the iPod and the SD card. I'm leaving both connected so that I can use whichever one happens to finish re-cataloging first. -

Actually, all 4 tires will be exactly the same. You just need to have 2 of them mounted on the wheels in the opposite direction to ensure the rotational direction is correct. Did you get them studded? I had the General's on my previous vehicle and was impressed with them for the price. I ended up going with Michelin X-Ice Xi2 tires for the DJ. -
I got this one. It works well. http://www.amazon.com/Curt-Manufacturing-45013-Vertical-Receiver/dp/B003721BVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325295933&sr=8-1

Take it back and tell them to do it right. A dealer installed accessory zip-tied to the hitch? That's not cool. Mine came with the 4-pin insert and rubber cap in the cargo compartment with the 4 pin harness, but I know earlier builds weren't coming with them. The part you need is Mopar# 68026722AA http://dodgeparts.mopar.com/dodge/journey-accessories.html

i went with the Navigation and Sound Group, Flexible Seating, Sunroof, Rear Entertainment, 2nd Row Booster Seats, and heated cloth seats. Basically, I got every option except the Smoker's Group and Leather. It came with the Chrome Clad Wheels, but I had the dealer swap them for the regular Crew alloys because I like them better than the chrome. These are the wheels I got from Tire Rack (along with Michelin X-Ice Xi2 tires and TPMS sensors). http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&winter=0&initialPartNumber=F1012735S&wheelMake=Sport+Edition&wheelModel=F10&wheelFinish=Silver+Painted&autoMake=Dodge&autoModel=Journey&autoYear=2012&autoModClar=Crew&tire=26TR8WS70&qty_front=4 I paid a lot more than $600, so that sounds like a great deal that you're being offered. Do the Dunlops have a lot of tread left? Do they come with TPMS sensors? If the answer is yes, that's a great deal.

It works fine. -
I'm in Colchester, so not too far from you. I got mine at Goss also. They didn't have one on the lot that had everything I wanted, so I ended up ordering one from the factory. I do remember seeing a Storm Grey one on the lot though that was close to what I wanted. That's probably the one that's now yours! I'll keep an eye out for you on the road. You should be easy to spot since I've yet to see another Journey on the roads around here

Another Storm Grey Crew in Vermont! Welcome to the forum! I just picked mine up less than 2 weeks ago. I went with 18" wheels and snow tires from Tire Rack for the winter. What part of VT are you in?

My current issue, trying to ditch the 19" rims
generaltso replied to itfchaos's topic in Wheels & Tires
I got these 18" wheels at Tire Rack for the winter. They fit perfectly and look fantastic. Not sure if you have your heart set on 17" or if 18" would work for you. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&winter=0&initialPartNumber=F1012735S&wheelMake=Sport+Edition&wheelModel=F10&wheelFinish=Silver+Painted&autoMake=Dodge&autoModel=Journey&autoYear=2012&autoModClar=Crew&tire=26TR8WS70&qty_front=4 -
There's no grab handles on your 2011? I wonder what trim level adds them. I don't recall seeing them specifically listed for any trim level, but all the DJs that I looked at had them.
