Hah, got the chime after 15 minutes of driving the other day after switching to winter tires. The light stayed on until the vehicle was turned off and hasn't come back on yet. I never noticed that it came on before as my wife always had the Journey and my short little 5 minute drive probably wasn't long enough to trigger the sensor or better yet, no sensor.

Thanks for pointing that out JK....now that makes me the nerd of the forum.

I know this is an old thread that seems to be revived but according to the manual checking oil is as follows: Engine Oil Checking Oil Level To assure proper engine lubrication, the engine oil must be maintained at the correct level. Check the oil level at regular intervals, such as every fuel stop. The best time to check the engine oil level is about five minutes after a fully warmed engine is shut off. Do not check oil level before starting the engine after it has sat overnight. Checking engine oil level when the engine is cold will give you an incorrect reading. Checking the oil while the vehicle is on level ground and only when the engine is hot, will improve the accuracy of the oil level readings. Maintain the oil level between the range markings on the dipstick. Either the range markings consist of a crosshatch zone marked SAFE or a crosshatch zone marked with MIN at the low end of the range and MAX at the high end of the range. Adding 1.0 qt (1.0 l) of oil when the reading is at the low end of the range marking will raise the oil level to the high end of the range marking.

2010 Journey SXT engine stall during operation
Journey_SeXT replied to tkinok74's topic in Engine & Transmission
If there is another dealership within a reasonable distance from you I would seriously consider going to them the next time. Also, thank you for your updates as many don't update when they post a problem on the forum.....usually the one post wonders are notorious for this. I'm sure this will help someone else down the road. -
Since I switch from the all-seasons to snow tires I mark each tire before storing them away and when they go back on in the spring I follow the crisscross rotation as instructed in the owners manual. That works great for me as I don't need to jack up the whole vehicle but do one at a time. As for low tire pressure in the cooler season I just had this happen where 3 tires were showing low pressure even when inflated to 36 psi....very frustrating as the tpms would never turn off. Anyhow, when I checked with my works pressure gauge i was only at 33 psi so I had a faulty gauge at home. I can say that this is probably a good reason why we have the TPMS in our cars. Thought I would mention it for anyone who comes across the same issue.

Tire dealers in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge
Journey_SeXT replied to Gas Man's topic in Wheels & Tires
Yes but I can't see a boarder guard investigating past boarder crossing purchases unless they are looking for a position in the audit dept. of the CRA. If they were to do that line ups at the border would probably reach Toronto. -
Tire dealers in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge
Journey_SeXT replied to Gas Man's topic in Wheels & Tires
Why is that illegal? I can see it being an issue paying taxes crossing the Canadian border with new tires but I don't see any issue on the American side getting the warranty work done unless your filling tires with narcotics instead of air. -
Yes this is normal. I've recently been driving our Journey regularly and every so often I will feel the clunk when shift over to drive. It feels like the vehicles transmission has some kind of a delayed reaction causing the clunk so I try going a little slower when shifting to drive to avoid it. Now, I just can't wait to hear the famous extreme winter cold start sound that a few members have posted about and my wife has explained to me. BTW been driving the Journey steady to work for the past 2 weeks and lovin' it!

Not bad at all. Did you stick to the speed limits throughout the drive?

Good Job on the savings! If i remember correctly those Napa Rotors comes with lifetime warranty so don't lose that receipt.

Tire dealers in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge
Journey_SeXT replied to Gas Man's topic in Wheels & Tires
Rolly, Since you are close to the border have you ever tried ordering from an online U.S. tire store and have it shipped to a Detroit area installer? I'm sure their would be a huge savings on shipping costs. I've seen a lot of great deals online but many don't ship to Canada. BTW good for Costco staying competitive with our U.S. neighbours. -

These guys are just a hop, skip and a jump from my place. I'll check them out when needing my tire replacement. Thanks! -
I have read that Krown may ruin rubber seals....you might want to look into that before you have this done. https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=Krown+damage+rubber+seals

2010 Journey SXT engine stall during operation
Journey_SeXT replied to tkinok74's topic in Engine & Transmission
The OP has already taken it to the dealer so not much more DodgeCares can do until the dealer gives a diagnosis and see if they can fix it. -
No Key Detected
Journey_SeXT replied to shegre's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
Is your vehicle under warranty complete with roadside assistance? If so, have road side assistance come and get the vehicle started and if they can't have it towed to the dealer where the dealer is now forced to fix your issue. If that dealer can't fix it then have them tow it to another dealership that can. It's silly that you have to bring two fobs with you when you shouldn't have to. -
2012 2.4 Four Cylinder Oil Change Interval??
Journey_SeXT replied to garcialuis07's topic in Engine & Transmission
I wouldn't try that with conventional oil. Oil changes are done cheap at most places and extremely cheap if done by yourself so I don't see the need to try and go that amount of distance when even the oil manufacture won't endorse that amount of mileage between oil changes.....even if the oil lasted that long your filter doesn't. Now, if we are talking about a good quality synthetic and you put on a lot of highway miles daily then yes 18,000 miles is no problem but I'd change the filter at 9,000.- 11 replies

2012 2.4 Four Cylinder Oil Change Interval??
Journey_SeXT replied to garcialuis07's topic in Engine & Transmission
Depends on what kind of oil you are using and the type of driving you are doing. Conventional oil and city driving would require oil changes to be a little sooner than if you are mainly doing all highway driving. Although, the 3000 mile mark is a little early for an oil change and for the dealer they would prefer that OCI for business....4 - 5,000 miles / 6 months seems more reasonable with conventional oil. As long you do not exceed what is stated in your owners manual you will be fine.- 11 replies

Did the Journey change your opinion of Dodge?
Journey_SeXT replied to rolly's topic in Owner Impressions
Great thread Rolly as this one applies to me! The Journey is my first Dodge or Chrysler product ever. I've always driven Asian vehicles except for the '79 Camaro and I would say the Chevy Aveo but that was made by Daewoo. Anyhow, it's always been like taboo to own anything by Chrysler between family and friends so imagine the jitters I had when I went to finally purchase the Journey. It's one of the most comfortable rides I've had and I love the power of the 3.6L. It seems well built and I love to baby it with lots of TLC. All in all it has been a very nice vehicle and yes I have changed my opinion about their product BUT I am still a little disappointed with their dealerships....no offence Journeyman425. I just can't find one that I honestly like and trust like I did with Honda and GM (Leggat Chev Toronto). It's probably something that Chrysler should work on with dealerships like they do with the Asian cars. I think once I'm ready to switch vehicles I will definitely take Dodge into consideration but my options are also open to brands like Hyundai/Kia which also produce a fine vehicle with a standard 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. -
These would be two good online options to look at: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do and http://www.tirerack.com/ I've used them with no issues in the past. You can call or email them directly for any questions or concerns.

Anyone that uses conventional oil then you'll wanna stop by your Walmart and pick up Valvoline (good oil) for only $9.94 (Excluding HST) 4.73 L (5 qt.). Great deal!! It's there anniversary sale and ends Sept 24.

Your probably right....the loud music must have drowned the sound out.
