No FlexFuel badge on mine but it does have E85 / Gasoline written on the gas cap.

That's great advice bigtsr and very true.
-
That's a real shame and it must be really rough on the boy to go through all this. Anyhow it's great to see you posting again and hopefully things will get better for you and your son.

Oil Type... Hot climate...
Journey_SeXT replied to Mauricio Pelissari's topic in Engine & Transmission
In a hot climate it is better to use the 5w30 as it makes for better lubrication than the 5W20. Stick with 5W30 and you'll be fine. -
Oh, my 2011 does. Not that I would ever bother with Flex Fuel anyways.
-
I didn't even get the first chime. It shows no info for tire pressure on the EVIC & no lights or dings during the whole winter season.
-
A tick or a Are you getting a tick, ping or a knock sound? Ticking engines are not fuel related but a ping or a knock is. If only premium fuels cure your 2014's sounds you need to get yourself down to the dealership and get it taken care of. BTW what fuel are you using to see the different results because I use top tier fuels exclusively and have tried both regular and premium and never found any difference at all except for the lighter wallet.

Hey webslave, doesn't your Journey have the ability to use flex fuel?
-
I've used non-ethanol 91 (Shell) a few times and haven't seen any significant difference in MPG consumption. Any difference in mpg wouldn't be enough to justify the difference in cost from regular gas. I would think if there were any gains from using it you can be certain that Dodge would be recommending that fuel to use.....but they don't. You may want to read the highlighted part of the the attachment I posted from your owners manual that deals with this question.

Because it is too cheap? No designs you like? Just curious why.

Yes, that's what I noticed too RTM. The 3.6L for me has been impressive and what sold me on the Journey.
-
Hey, I don't mind how the new Cherokee's look. If the Journey goes that route for design I'd definitely be looking to upgrade. Unfortunately, compared to other vehicles in the same class I think our Journey's are starting to become a little dated & tiresome in design. Pretty much all others car makes have refreshed their vehicle designs like the Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe, etc....sad to say but a change may be good.

I recently picked up tires and wheels online for my new ride at Discount Tire Direct and they were excellent to work with. I saved myself some cash even though it was shipped from the U.S. compared to most, if not all of the Canadian sites. The online wheel preview for your vehicle is just like the one offered at Tire Rack except the graphics are better than Tire Rack which makes for a better visual on deciding which wheels to get. I've used both in the past and they are both great but I think I'll give Discount the nod over Tire Rack....at least for my tire size.

Welcome to the forum Kyle!! I was just down in your neck of the woods doing a coast to coast vacation and would have loved to come across your new Journey as I have been unsuccessful in spotting one during my stay. Anyhow, congrats on the new ride and I hope you continue the love with your DJ as many of us do with ours.

Easiest way to increase horsepower is to trade up for the V6 3.6L.....285 horsepower will definitely get you moving faster! BTW welcome to the forum!!

You just answered your own question. If you do not feel comfortable waiting that long for an oil change then change it now. It probably has not come on yet because it detects that you are doing a lot of highway driving as opposed to city driving (stop & go) where the oil will take more of a beating.
-
Understood but they have new "synthetic oil" with only 2,000 miles (3200 km's) which I highly doubt needs replacement already even if we are talking about severe driving conditions. The oil change monitor from my understanding doesn't monitor the condition of the oil nor does it know what type of oil you are using but based on driving conditions during each interval...is that right? If that's the case then I would just reset the monitor and wait for a mileage interval like 5000 miles to change the oil but not exceeding the maximum allowable mileage in the owners manual that can void your warranty.

Journey won't start. Stranded in Michigan
Journey_SeXT replied to fmjcafe's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Not to sound like a Dodge basher but the reality is they aren't known for their reliability. Last time they topped the list in the J.D. Powers long term reliability was??? Truth is that my wife and I were a little leery of purchasing a Chrysler product as they have always had a rep of being poor in reliability. Now, from my personal experience of having it for 3 years+ I can say that it has been trouble free (knock on wood) exceeded all of our expectations and definitely changed my view of Chrysler. Would I buy another???? Probably would as I can say that it has been a real joy to own this Journey. For me its been a true workhorse. I don't think its anyone fault to give their opinions that these vehicles do not stand up to the test but the fault of Chrysler or any other American automaker that still has been unsuccessful in in changing the public view of their cars.
