Happy Easter Journeyman425 and to all!

Very nice....I like the look alot!

Just like Rgwog I suctioned it on the smooth part of the dash.....you will need to make sure that you clean that part where you will suction to with warm water and not to have any greasy interior dash cleaner/protectant as it will make the suction only last for only a few hours. My Garmin came equipped for this type of installation with a plastic dish & two sided tape on the one side so you can suction on the dish but there is no way I would use any type of adhesive on that part of the dash. The only real drawback to this method is that you do see the ring from the suction cup after it is removed and takes a bit of effort to have it removed so it is not noticeable in the day. Anyhow I found this location to be the best for viewing your GPS and the least obstructive when driving.

2012 journey avp/cvp pads and rotors
Journey_SeXT replied to devo13's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Your only real long term solution is to upgrade to the bigger brakes that are installed in the newer Journeys. It is going to be quite pricey to convert as the calipers are also replaced so if you have any experience in installing brakes you could save some cash on the labour. Other than that you will have to buy better quality aftermarket brakes to replace the crappy oem brakes installed on the car and that still might not last that much longer as the brakes are undersized for our Journeys. -
The 17" wheels will fit as I have asked this question in the past on this forum and got confirmation from a Mopar Tech....post #50 on this thread deals with the 17" rim clearance. http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/2483-big-brake-kit-to-repace-crappy-oe-brakes/page-3
-
I've read reviews on a few sites regarding Centric brake rotors and most users find them to be an excellent rotor for performance and price.
-
I would do the upgrade but I invested in the 16" snow tires so it would be too expensive to upgrade to the 17's plus all the money for the brakes. Anyhow, I have no problems doing my own brake work if they wear out so I always keep my eyes peeled for any specials on rotors and pads before they are due for replacement.
-
You will need a minimum of 17" wheels in order to do the upgrade to the bigger brake package. You can read Frogbox's step by step how to and see the difference in brake size of the calipers and rotors......http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/4974-successful-big-brake-upgrade-on-2011-crew/

What was the reason why so much carbon? That doesn't seem normal unless you've done absolutely no maintenance to the vehicle in the past 55,000 km's.
-
If you have the 17" or 19" tires you could always inquire about upgrading to the bigger brake package that they have now on the newer models. If you do a forum search our brake guru Frogbox has a tutorial on the brake upgrade. It will be expensive but should avoid the premature wear you are getting now.

Rotor/Pad recommendations
Journey_SeXT replied to Jay Sixspeedrt's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
From what I've read from other sites is to stay away from the cheap Chinese made cross drilled rotors they have advertised throughout ebay. If your dropping big coin for reputable brand name cross drilled rotors they should be fine, not worth the cost but fine to use. Note, you will be unable to resurface cross-drilled rotors if the warp.....not that I would even bother resurfacing my daily driver rotors if they were to warp too but the only difference is it will hurt your wallet more than mine. -
Very nice Lebowski! That would be very unnoticeable for anyone to see. The model that cskmom posted are fine too and some I have seen on ebay would actually look like a crown moulding on top of the plate cover if the cover was black. The one I saw at Costco looked like a photo camera stuck on the back and protruded pretty far out....it looked like crap but in fairness it was on a Toyota Corolla so I guess it blends in with the rest of the car.

Fix for blowing pwr steering hose in cold weather
Journey_SeXT replied to Geer's topic in Engine & Transmission
Castrol makes a full synthetic ATF+4.....http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9012225&contentId=7027046 O'reilly's & Advance Auto should carry it as it is shown on their website list. Another is Quaker State Full Synthetic ATF+4...http://www.quakerstate.com/CA/#/CA/products/transmission-fluids/atf-plus-4-full-synthetic Napa (Canada) should have them. -
When were the reviews for the 2nd gen Journey's any better? I always thought so called "experts" who do the reviews for American vehicles just copy and paste every year.....it wouldn't be considered trendy if they were to give any praise to a Chrysler product.

Damn, I wasn't even thinking about your plate#....I was just curious of the size of camera in comparison to the size of our Journey. Now when I read my earlier request again it does come off as real creepy. Sorry if it sounded that way cskmom. I was just curious because a while back at a Costco parking lot I saw a back up camera on a car and it was quite large in size.....you definitely couldn't walk past it without noticing it. The link does show the camera but not on the vehicle. I do see they have other back up cameras with a bit more of a sleek design but not sure if I want to have any extra equipment along with the GPS. Couple of questions....does the camera turn off automatically when you shift to drive or do you have to turn it off manually from the rear view mirror? And does the rear view mirror screen also act as a mirror when turned off? Thanks.

09 Journey.. Front end clicking?
Journey_SeXT replied to burdnick's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Doesn't it make for a great thread when they don't post any info of what the problem was? -
Yes, Petro, Shell & Esso are top tier. You may also want to try switching to synthetic oil instead of conventional for the extreme cold winters....it may even help a bit with the fuel economy. I know this may seem pretty corny but here is a link on fuel saving tips... http://www.wikihow.com/Increase-Fuel-Mileage-on-a-Car
-
Chris1276, I know you have mentioned in the past that you fill up at some cheapy gas station instead of using toptier gas. Have you ever tried doing 3 or 4 consecutive fill ups at a top tier gas station to see if the fuel economy improves. I often wonder if the type of fuel you are using is also contributing to the terrible fuel mileage besides the AWD, 19" tires, cold temps, over idling and city driving. 25.2L/100 km's is real shitty even with all those factors. My boss' 4x4 RAM (no HEMI) with 20" wheels still is able to get 17L/100 kms.
-
Anytime you remove & reinstall the tires you will need to have them torqued back to specs. at 95 ft/lbs. If the tire rotation was done by you may want to invest in a torque wrench. CanTire will often have torque wrenches on special.
-
....just to add to Frogbox's suggestions. For Chilton manuals you can also try going online to your public library and accessing the manuals for free. You will need a library card to gain access....felt weird getting one after so many years. Note: The online manuals only have information for 2009 Dodge Journey's but I'm guessing most, if not all of the info will apply to 2010's.

I just started following this thread and it got me thinking when I purchased my Journey....the finance lady asked me if we got the one with the sunroof, which we didn't and then she replied "good because they always leak". I found the reply bizarre but wrote it off that she was trying to make me feel better in my purchase (still regret not getting the sunroof). I've had many cars with sunroofs and none of them have had issue's of leaks.....even my little cheapy Aveo doesn't leak. Probably Chrysler should look into a new design or materials for sunroofs in future vehicles.

Thank you my point exactly....it's the reason why Michelin's are held in very high regard as opposed to Khumo's. The dollars maybe good today but a bad reputation will last a very long time.
