Proper Brake Bleeding Order? 2012 Journey
Journey_SeXT replied to bcristea's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
If your Journey has never had a brake job done you shouldn't have air in your brake lines....you may also want to consider having the dealership check it out as you are under warranty. Could be a faulty master cylinder. -
Me too Chris, 5,000 km trip to Florida & back coming up this summer. Hopefully your road trip will drop your fuel mileage L/100 KM drastically like mine did. Averaged a 7.8 by the time i got back.

Wow 97,000 miles in 1 year....the guy must have lived in that car all year long.

I don't think that the traction control system or AWD are in any way connected to the TPMS....at least with the Subaru they are not. Anyhow, I have the winter tires with no TPMS and the funny thing is the light popped up for a couple of seconds then goes off and stays off for the winter season....I wonder if the spare tire has any thing to do with that? I think that Journeyman425 or Dodge(CA)cares can confirm if what your stealership says is true, which I doubt. Why are you buying tires from the dealership? Is there absolutely nothing online that can beat the dealers prices?

Wow that's high but you are not too far off from the Cherokee's fuel consumption so I would say that you need to either idle less when warming up the vehicle, change your driving habits, and/or make sure that you are travelling light......Is your area mountainous? I can see that also being a factor. All city driving would also give you poor fuel consumption but 24L/100km's is a lot.

rear brake pad replacement,,
Journey_SeXT replied to Tito Mon's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Yes we have other chains like Midas, Speedy, Master Mechanic etc...... Canadian Tire has been around forever so people like the convenience of their garage. Here is their website if you would like to see what they offer: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en.html They also have their auto garage attached to the store. They own Part Source which is the equivalent to Autozone & Advance Auto in the U.S. Advance Auto if I am not mistaken is also owned by Canadian Tire/Parts Source. -
Once the gas pump stops pumping I am able to still pump another 5 bucks worth of gas without gas spilling everywhere.....at that point it will take me past full with close to 700 km DTE. I don't bother doing that any more...I just fill till it stops and that's it.

For simple maintenance like brakes, tires, oil changes, tuneups, etc... they are alright but any major repairs I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. -
I don't know if it's the angle you took the picture but that looks past full to me.

Dealer tried to sell me unnecessary service

Yup, had the same thing where they tried pushing some expensive fuel system cleaning service that's when I asked what exactly they do for this type of service??? Once the service adviser got as far as saying they pour a bottle of cleaner in the gas tank I stopped her there and said no thanks......I can get decent fuel system cleaners at the parts store on special and have it done for under $10. The other classic tale is after my first oil change (5,000 km/3,100 miles) the service adviser shows me my clean engine air filter asking if I wanted it replaced......Really???? -
Your Journey oil capacity is 5.6 L or 6 qts. of oil.
-
Jkeaton, Did you install those mud flaps yourself? I bought a set last year and still haven't built enough courage to install them as I am a little hesitant in drilling through the metal.
-
I'm with bramfrank as well, I didn't bother with the TPMS on my winter tires either. Having it come standard with the vehicle is one thing bought buying it......i'll save that money and check the tire pressure myself.

Brought brand new and took ownership in March 2011......currently with 45,000 Km (27,960 miles) Being a Honda man for many years I thought I would never love this Dodge as much as my other cars but the road trip this summer has sparked a real love for this cars ride!!

Now we can all live in harmony with this link.....http://www.worldwidemetric.com/measurements.html

For the first time I had the the oil change reminder come on after 8,500 km's (5300 Miles). Oil change was done in July (Castrol Edge full synthetic) just before my road trip to Florida and came on Friday last week.

The owners manual probably doesn't list the brake service as after the one year they are off the hook on the warranty repairs. The inspection although vague should include inspecting the caliper slide pins too but I guess it only goes as far as checking rotors and pads only. The dealership I go to has a brake service recommended at every 20,000 km ($200.00 includes taxes) which I have done once but now do the servicing on my own. I'm sure that other dealership also have a similar schedule. It's too bad if no one takes advantage of the brake service work as it is one of the more useful services a dealership offers as opposed to the fuel induction service that costs a lot and not necessary.
-
I half agree with Frogbox that brake pads and rotors should not be covered "unless" you have an invoice of brake maintenance work done in the past. Usually done once a year where they service the brakes including lubing caliper slide pins and all other brake components that require some brake luibe or antiseize. If that type of service was done then the dealer would be on the hook for the whole cost or at least that is what I think it should be.

Successful BIG BRAKE upgrade on 2011 Crew

Thanks for the reply Frogbox! I thought I read somewhere that it had to be done with a caliper replacement. I just want to avoid doing a big brake job like this then having to go to the dealer to finish up the rest of the job.
