Rain Sensing Wipers & Smart Beam?
AstralRT replied to generaltso's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Yes, but sometimes when its raining its still very sunny and bright. Therefore, having the interior lights/screen switch to night mode in these conditions is a big inconvenience for me. -
I've been too many stations where there were three tanks in the ground. I assume three tanks would be three different octanes. Just an assumption on my part. There were no diesel at these stations.
-
Here is one of the threads that convinced me to try 89 octane.
-
I found it on a few threads on this forum, but can't find the exact ones now. I believe its more of owners recommendations from personal trials rather than a manufacture recommendation. I personally gave 89 a try and liked the results. If I do find the threads again I'll share'em.

I personally don't like BMW, overpriced and too many electrical problems especially considering the price tag (personal knowledge based on multiple friends having multiple BMWs and since moving to Acura/Lexus). So I'll accept the bragging rights for that day and go back to my "grandpa" driving. :D Anyway, we're getting a little off topic. Enjoy your new ride CCC, and keep in mind that 89 octane fuel is recommended in the 3.6L.
-
My dealer told me that too, but didn't recommend it. He did recommend me coming back at 3000KM for my first Oil change. I won't be though, as little work I can get done somewhere else other than the dealer the better. I'll most likely just pick up the oil and filter and take it to my regular mechanic so I can have record of a licensed professional doing the change as I was told by the dealer that doing it myself would void the warranty.

I agree, but like I said I heard the bmw engine pull hard. It wasn't just a little loud, it was full out; especially off the second light. Now maybe the driver missed a shift (twice), or maybe it had engine/transmission problems, or maybe just a really bad driver; but all I can say is what happened and I know for a fact the BMW engine was pulling hard up to the point I passed. Also, maybe they were running 87 octane fuel, I only use 89 in the Journey, maybe that combined with one of the other potential problems allowed my Journey to be a Hero for day

I actually embarrassed a 2010 BMW 335i recently. They tried to take me off two lights but they couldn't keep up. To be sure I wasn't mistaken, I held back on the second light to listen to their engine. Once I heard it hitting high rev I walked my DJ up to 100kmph which was more than enough to quickly pass. Before anyone bashes me for any kind of dangerous driving, it was a long straight divided four lane road in an unpopulated area with an 80kmph limit. I wasn't drifting corners or racing through any school zones or anything more dangerous than a heavy foot. I'll also add that since getting the Journey, my wife has commented many times that I now drive like an old grandpa

Congrats!

Not enough wacky colors and its missing the Aquarium or Hair salon.

I believe the production of the 2012 Rallye ended around late March or maybe April so chances are there was one already ordered by one dealership or another that fit the minimum requirements of your order. The fact that yours has the DVD is a bonus and very lucky on your part. Congrats!
-
The factory DVD is nice for the kids, and the two wireless headsets help keep things quiet. Also, you can watch the DVD on the 8.4 screen upfront when parked. Win/Win for everyone.
-
Its like everything. Prices are always changing, features always "improve". As soon as something is made its already outdated.
-
My dealer told me I was the first one to order a Journey with a factory DVD as they usually recommend their customers to an aftermarket setup installed at a third party shop. I personally rather the factory setup and not having to deal with another shop if something goes wrong and/or problems with integration. Plus I really like being able to insert the DVD disc into the regular CD slot and being able to watch the movie on the 8.4 screen when parked. Not sure if an aftermarket one would have this same integration.

I asked to have mine removed as part of the purchase, but forgot about the one on the windshield though Does anyone know if the one on the windshield will come off with a heat gun as well? Thanks.
-
Nice. Can I ask what the price is for those? Also, do you know if they have any in black?

I agree, 99% sure its the battery. I've had many dead batteries on many vehicles and each one behaved just a little bit different but resulted in the same problem. You might want to leave the booster cables on for 15-20 mins to help charge the battery before trying to start or get a proper battery charger hooked up to it. In some of my older vehicles that had dead batteries that wouldn't take a boost I had to remove a working battery from one vehicle and put it in the one with the dead battery, once started I then put the dead one back in and drove the vehicle up the highway for a bit to allow the alternator to charge it up. I don't recommend doing this as it can be a little dangerous swapping a battery while the engine is running, but thought I would share incase you do feel comfortable enough around batteries and have a spare that would fit

Great information, I'll be looking at doing this on mine soon.

Congratulations! -
Where you live may not matter, but how and where you drive does. If you drive mostly highway (without stop and go traffic) you're brakes will last a lot longer than something constantly having to stop/slow down. Usually this type of stop/go driving is seen in and around cities due to higher traffic congestion. As for tacking on the price of the 16" winter wheels in the claim, I think that just won't fly. Chrysler provided a set of wheels with the car along with All Season tires, its the owners preference to choose a different wheel size and/or buy winter tires. Not trying to start a Winter/All Season debate, just stating its the owners choice to switch wheels or not. BTW I always buy separate winter tires for all my vehicles.

Black is a pain to keep clean but looks the best when clean. Get yourself some good wax and polish and it will help make cleaning easier. After a good wax, I can get away with just rinsing my DJ and drying it. No soap needed. Another tip for anyone that just took ownership of a new ride, get a good clay bar to clean up the paint. You won't believe how much garbage is sitting on your paint, even when new.

All copyright arguments aside, the map upgrade price is ridiculous. Just another way to milk us for more money. Sure, we can choose not to buy new maps or not to buy a Nav system altogether, but then we lose a feature and/or product we really enjoy. This holds true for many things in life we want but don't need, and companies know this.
