You could always try those polyurethane exhaust hangers (to replace the stock rubber ones that wobble around a lot). Although that may actually increase vibrations...

back speaker access

We all know that every car meet should happen in sunny california . -
I wasn't quite sure what to do with my flat 4 plug. Right now it's just kind of hanging down, tucked unto the hitch reciever. Where did the rest of ya'll put your trailer plug?

Some tips for the wiring harness install since the instructions aren't that great. When routing the green T wire connectors, just pass them down through the drivers side taillight hole, then up over top of the rear bumper bar. You don't have to pull the bumper to do that, and it just rests nicely on top of the bumper bar. I originally went lower than that, and the wire ran short. For the power wire to the battery, I routed mine through each wheel well, up and over the splash gaurds. Pretty easy to pull the splash gaurds down and route the wire over each wheel well. And just zip tie it along the ebrake cable. Then pull the front driver side splash gaurd back and connect it to the battery terminal there. And finally, I'd recommend doing the wiring first, before the hitch install. I did it vice-versa and it was a lot harder to feed the wires with the hitch in the way. Hope this helps out future installs!

Blacktop headlamps
onecrazyfoo4u replied to travis9935's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
Is anyone on here interested in blacking out headlights, or doing halo retrofits to make some money? I may be interested in getting mine done if so! -
I installed my Curt 13335 Hitch the other day. Just like the OP said, pretty easy install. The only thing I didn't know was you have to remove the rear tow bar since it's in the way. Took me a minute to realize that. Just 2 bolts to take off the rear tow bar...and you don't need it now that the hitch has openings for a tow hook. Just a little FYI to watch out for.

Where did you get those projector headlights done? How much did it cost? Looks awesome!

Yep, under the front passenger seat on my 2012. You can't miss it. -
Where did you get them from and how much? I kind of like it...are there any other interior panel pieces you can get to match?

Please post pictures when you get it installed. Interested to see how it looks on the DJ mirror.

Any issue on the new Journey 2014 ?
onecrazyfoo4u replied to Storm Roger's topic in Owner Impressions
Yeah, $25k is way to much for an SE model. I got a fully loaded crew for that price out the door. -
Thanks again Journeyman...looks like I have everything I need to go get. Appreciate the help. Here's my order list for $191 total: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EOV3FM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1JWY71SHQ82FV&coliid=I2ZEUPCYV30DM3 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AN3PW3Y/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1JWY71SHQ82FV&coliid=IEMTISDSYDVU9 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EOV492/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1JWY71SHQ82FV&coliid=IDM2FO6QJZE2K

Towing newb, what do I need and how much?
onecrazyfoo4u replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Hauling & Towing
Awesome, thanks again for the info! Looks like I still have lots of researching to do for campers. I'll head to a dealer sometime just to check them out and get the inside scoop. -
2014 April Consumer Reports - Car Issue
onecrazyfoo4u replied to Journey41's topic in Owner Impressions
I regularly get 24-25mpg with 70-80% highway driving. On road trips of 100% highway I get around 28mpg. The city driving is what kills mileage. But that's similar for every vehicle. -
Thanks so much for the help! Last question, what is the hitch height when installed on the DJ? Trying to figure out what size of drop/rise reciever to get. The Uhaul site says not to exceed the maximum hitch ball height of 25". How much drop or rise would the DJ need to accomadate that hitch ball height?

2014 April Consumer Reports - Car Issue
onecrazyfoo4u replied to Journey41's topic in Owner Impressions
As long as you stick to a 2012 or above, you'll be fine. Most of the kinks have been worked out with the brakes, and the bad cooling passeges on the cylinder heads. I believe those were really the only two big issues. I too looked at consumer reports and laughed at how it was rated. It's all subjective matter; every magazine or website will rate it differently. I personally, don't base my buying decision on what a magazine says. I test drive it and join a forum to get the inside scoop on what to look for and common problems. That's where you'll get the real information. When it comes to everything you can get for the price; it is very hard to beat the value of the Journey. My price cutoff was $25k for a hopefully new vehicle. I was looking at used Toyota's, Honda's, Hyundai's, etc for 5-7 seat suv's and crossovers. I could either get a used vehicle with 50k+ miles with less options and worse gas mileage. Or get a fully loaded brand new Journey Crew with tons of extra options and a great warranty. The choice was pretty obvious for me. You can't get a new vehicle with this many options for under $25k, except for the DJ. That's what my research showed at least... -

Towing newb, what do I need and how much?
onecrazyfoo4u replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Hauling & Towing
Thank you so much for the explanation! Sounds like that's the way to go to keep it simple. We also are looking at a pop up camper to lug around. What size of ball does your camper take? And how much rise/drop of a reciever did you have to use? Another random question, do these popup trailers typically come with a generator or the ability to have a generator mounted in them for fridge, A/C, electrical ? -
I see a lot of you guys have pop up trailers. I'm ordering my hitch kit and wiring and just wanted to verify a few things. First, do the pop up trailers typically only have a 4-wire hookup? Meaning they have surge brakes instead of electric brakes usually? Second, what size ball do the pop up trailers usually accept, 1 7/8" or 2"? Lastly, I'm renting a little Uhaul trailer to move some stuff 1000 miles. Do you know what what wiring hookup and what size of balls those take?

steering wheel shudder and rattling sound
onecrazyfoo4u replied to redtomatoman's topic in Owner Impressions
I wouldn't waste money trying to re-balance the tires. Those kuhmos just never could get balanced perfectly. I always had a slight shudder around 60 mpg. Mine lasted till 40k miles. Just get them replaced when the tread runs out, then see if you need an alignment after the new tires. -
This is the same brand I was planning on going with, $200 is a great deal for everything included. Was that kit a class 3 hitch? Did the wiring and boxes just all fit behind the taillight then? Where is the trailer wire plug, I don't see it in the pics? Lastly, do you still have access to your spare tire easily? Thanks!

Towing newb, what do I need and how much?
onecrazyfoo4u replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Hauling & Towing
So how do they work if there's no hookup to the actual vehicle? Does that mean I would get just the 4-pin wiring kit for the trailer lights only? -
I highly recommend the Yokohama YK580 (not sure if they have them in the proper 17" size though). I got the 235/55/r19 for about $600 shipped with a discount tire deal last summer. They are perfect tires, nice and smooth drive and super quiet. And they have an awesome 60k mile warranty too!
-
They obviously got ripped off getting tires from the dealer...it does not cost $1200 for new 19" tires. I just bought 235/55/r19 replacement tires this summer for $600 shipped (good deal they had going on at discount tire). Then $60 to mount and balance at my local shop. This was for a very good replacement tire, Yokohama YK580. I obsolutely love the tires, and they should easily last 60k+ miles. It should be obvious, but do not buy tires from the dealership!!

Towing newb, what do I need and how much?
onecrazyfoo4u replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Hauling & Towing
Thanks for the help everyone. I'll probably go with the Curt hitch and wiring kit just since it's so much cheaper. Then just find the appropriate size ball and receiver for what I'll be towing. I won't worry about the extra cooler or brake controller. Much easier than I thought!
