  1. Yeah but there's no paint on the pinch welds??? I don't see any need to do this. Been using my jack stands and floor jack for 3 years and 93k miles without a problem scratching/denting on the DJ. To each their own though...
  2. Yeah but you gotta pay to play man! I wanted MO POWA than the 4 banger.
  3. Ah, very good. No need to do a DIY thread then. Just follow the 935 steps to change spark plugs . Thanks Journey_SeXT
  4. Good point, I'll probably go for the flush then . When doing google searches, many people do transmission fluid changes every 30-40k miles. Why the heck would they be doing it that often? Maybe that's a thing of the past (similar to 3k mile engine oil changes)?
  5. If the leaf blower method is leaving water spots on your paint, then it must not be waxed good. If it's got a nice wax coating, the water just flies off leaving a perfectly clear shine. I just use a cheap $30 electric blower. Never had a problem with dust or anything blowing onto the paint. Not sure how that would happen if the air is clear...
  6. I thought you weren't supposed to do a transmission flush? I thought you were just supposed to do a drain, filter swap, and refill...don't transmission flushes cause problems with leaky seals and what not?
  7. Leaf blower all the way for drying. Best option out there!!!
  8. Alrighty, I ordered the champion ones before the deal ended. Will see for sure when I tear apart the upper engine to replace them. Maybe I'll post a DIY thread for changing the plugs...since there isn't one yet...
  9. That's ridiculous to charge $100 to swap rim/tire sets. It takes all of a few minutes to do, and you can easily do it yourself. There's no mounting/balancing needed, just bolt them on and go.
  10. It looks like they must be Champion, because that's the only brand plug with that part number. Can anybody confirm this? Pep Boys has a killer deal on them right now, $7.50 a piece ($45 total). But you get 35% off online orders ($29 total). Then there's a Champion mail in rebate for $2.50 per plug. So $15 total for all 6 iridium plugs. Great deal if anyone needs plugs right now!
  11. My 2012 DJ is at 93k miles, and approaching the 96k mile spark plug change (3.6L). I was going to order spark plugs to avoid paying dealer prices. The manual says RER8ZWYCB4 (Gap 0.043"), but doesn't say which brand. Are the oem ones Mopar, or NGK, Champion, etc? Just want to replace with the same parts. Thanks guys!
  12. Wow, very tastefully done! How did you clear out the amber reflectors in the headlamps? Wheels, strips, headlights all look superb.
  13. I'm actually on a work trip now and got a prius. I am surprised by the amount of pep this thing has off the line (when you enable power mode or whatever it's called). That instant full battery torque is awesome. You can gun it from every light, then brake to recharge the battery all day long and still get almost 50mpg! Too bad the prius looks like dog doodoo though...
  14. My DJ is at 93k miles. I'm getting ready to do the spark plug change soon too. I'm excited for the new project! Will be a good time to carb spray and clean out the intake manifold to get rid of all the oil in the runners.
  15. I looked all around the oil filter housing and there aren't any sensors or wiring. Closing sensor/wiring is on the intake manifold. So what am I missing here? Can you point it out on this picture I took:
  16. Would it be one of these sensors shown on rockauto? Which one?
  17. Good point, I'll try that out. Didn't realize it was accessible. Is that the oil pressure sensor that's by the oil filter? I wonder if it's easy enough for me to replace myself? Anybody have access to a manual/guide for that? Would hate to have the dealer charge me hundreds (if not covered under warranty) for something I can do myself for $10.
  18. Lol, what are you going to do with 50 valve stem caps? Usually tire shops put them on for free when you get your tires mounted/balanced...
  19. Actually I never did make it to the dealership, lol. I'm pretty certain it's just a bad sensor problem like Lobitz said. Mine will trigger the code/check engine light for a week, then disappear for a week. It keeps going away on it's own...which most definitely points to a bad sensor or loose connection. Nothing that's actually damaging the engine. It's a common code if you search it...many people have had it pop up due to bad sensor. But I will take it to the dealer to hopefully fix under powertrain warranty (they will probably try not to cover it) when I go to get my transmission fluid changed in a couple weeks.
  20. I need to get out there and start doing some test drives! I'm surprised by the mazdaspeed6 specs. It's almost as fast as an STI in the 1/4 mile. I've never owned a Mazda though...don't know how well they hold up past 100k miles.
  21. I just don't get the WRX pricing (it's got to be due to higher demand). They cost several thousand more than the Legacy GT, yet they have 25 less hp, aren't as luxurious inside comparatively, and have more miles...and most of them have been modified out the wazoo. I may splurge for the Legacy GT just cause they are cheaper with the less miles and more power than the WRX! I like the G-35, just worried about RWD in the snow here...it's hard to find the AWD G-35X. I think I'm scratching the Audi S4 off my list just cause euro vehicles are more expensive to maintain it seems like.
  22. I'm sick of my 170k mile Hyundai Tiburon commuter breaking down all the time...so what do you think I should get? I don't want to spend over $8k if possible, maybe up to $10k tops. Here's my criteria: - Absolutely has to be 4-door (sedan, wagon, or hatchback) - Lots of POWER (prefer turbo) - Very dependable that I can stack lots of miles on - Decent gas mileage, 24mpg or greater - Prefer to have something with AWD for snow, but are considering others. Here's some of the vehicles I'm looking at: - 2005-2009 Subaru Legacy GT - 2000-2005 Subaru WRX - 2000-2006 Audi S4 - 2001-2004 Lexus IS300 - 2003-2006 Infinity G35 or G35X - 2007+ MazdaSpeed3 - 2006-2007 MazdaSpeed6 AWD Does anybody have experience with any of these vehicles? As you can see, I'm looking for something with good power for fun, but that can be somewhat luxurious too. Let me know what you think!
  23. But he isn't a 1 post wonder...he's a 2 post wonder! He came back to update his thread 1.5 years later (not with any detailed information of course)! Kudos to him, he's ahead of the curve of most of those other types.
  24. I personally don't even jack the DJ for oil changes. It's high enough off the ground for me to easily slip under and drain. But when I do jack it up (for tire rotations, brakes, etc.), I jack at the front, center cross member bolt (so both wheels lift up at the same time). Then I slip two jack stands on the sides.
