  1. I know how you feel about changing the oil. I always changed my oil every 5,000 kilometres and it took me a while to get out of the habit. You should be fine. The manual recommends every 16,000 kilometres or no longer than one year. I haven't got totally over my old habits though, I changed my oil at 10,000 kilometres last time. My oil change warning has never come on yet. A lot depends on the type of driving you do. I have over 57,000 kilometres now and like you say it's a real treat.
  2. A friend of mine was selling his mothers car after she passed away and he let me take it home over the weekend to test drive it. I got stopped by the police because he noticed the license plate sticker had expired. I explained that I was thinking about buying it and when I checked the glove box for the ownership, I found the license sticker. She had bought the sticker but hadn't put it on. The police officer told me that he could have given me a ticket, but under the circumstances he let it go. So I guess it depends on the officer.
  3. No, but it still had a lot of pep. The SRT4 is a monster, talk about hauling ass.
  4. We use Canadian Tire money a lot!
  5. Brian, I went from a Minivan to a Neon in 2001 and then to the Journey 2013. You learn to adjust LOL.
  6. It cost me $196.00 for a 2 year renewal. How does that compare to your location?
  7. Well it's that time again. I had to renew my license plate stickers and I hated the thought of standing in that long line up. It doesn't matter what time of day or which day of the week, it always turns into terrible experience. As I get older and closer to my expiry date I try to avoid spending it in this way. I decided this time to do something different. I went to the Service Ontario site and did it online. All it took was ten minutes and they mailed my stickers right to my home within the week. For those of you who haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. Do they have this option in other Provinces or States or countries?
  8. Well that certainly explains a lot!
  9. Terry (Windancer) has them on his Journey and they look great.
  10. That helped him tap dance in Chicago.
  11. Did they check the front or rear control arms?
  12. I would rethink about raising the issue with the dealer. You seem to assume that the dealer is aware that their staff is not doing their job. How can you expect dealers to improve their service if consumers don't hold them accountable? If I brought my Journey in for service and suspected that the service that I paid for and requested wasn't done, I would be bringing it to the attention of the service manager. As far as any future repairs, this would serve as a warning to them that you won't tolerate slip shod service. Personally I think you're selling the dealership short. Give them an opportunity to investigate and satisfy your concern before you accuse them of bad behaviour.
  13. I heard of one and it was after crashing at 118 mph!
  14. Great system, but It's paid through our taxes. Manitoba and B.C. also have public auto insurance, which I wish we had in Ontario. I hate dealing with insurance companies. You keep paying year after year and when you put in a claim, they nickle and dime you to death so you're no further ahead. They should have to pay me so much a year and collect from me when I die!!!
  15. Welcome to the forum. I too bought the extended warranty and like everyone else says it's well worth it for all the electronics. I only wish we could get the lifetime warranty here in Canada.

    Meat and Beer

Have to revive this thread with summer coming on. I did a salmon fillet on the barbecue for Mothers Day. I brushed the salmon with liquid smoke and added grated frozen lemon, garlic, onion powder, sour cream with chopped green onions. This is the first time I used the liquid smoke on the salmon and it's definitely a winner. Next weekend is Victoria Day in Canada followed by Memorial Day in the States. Anybody have any favourite recipes they have planned for the long weekends. I know Lobitz is probably chomping at the bit. How about the rest of you?
  17. I'd rather be in Colorado if I'm going to smoke!
  18. Especially handy in our neck of the woods, being surrounded by the Great lakes eh!
  19. I bought a brand new Ford Maverick in 1973 and waited a few weeks to wash it for the first time. When I tried buffing the wax, I noticed that there was a circular spot in the door that caught the wax build up. It looked like another layer of paint in that one area. Needless to say I brought into the dealer and the area rep investigated and found the car had been damaged in transit and all they did was a patch and paint. I had them repaint the whole door, but the paint never set up like the original paint. No comparison with factory paint jobs in quality- that is if they are done properly. Just my two cents - in Canada that would be five cents!
