Congratulations and welcome to the forum. We have the 2013 SXT and it's a great vehicle. What colour and options do you have?
-
We have the V6 in our 2013 SXT and just completed an 8400 mile tour of Canada and the U.S. and all I can say is that it ran absolutely flawlessly. The motor is so quiet and just cruises at highway speed. The gas mileage was a pleasant surprise and we traveled in all kinds of different conditions. Mountain elevations, high winds, dirt roads, city driving (L.A. San Fransisco, Las Vegas) and we averaged between 24 and 32 miles to the gallon. I don't have any experience with the four cylinder, but quite a few forum members do and they seem to be quite satisfied. The power of the 6 is very impressive- I've had V8's that weren't as responsive or as smooth. I bought the six in anticipation of the driving conditions we would experience on our trip and because the Journey is big vehicle and I wasn't sure if the 4 cylinder was powerful enough (my wife doesn't travel light, I think she brought half the house). All in all the V6 sure didn't disappoint us in the city or on the highway. Good luck and congratulations whatever your decision. The Journey is a treat to drive!

According to the 2013 Journey Canadian Brochure the extras on the SE are: leather wrapped steering wheel, leather wrapped shift knob, body colour mirrors, led tail lamps, deep-tint sunscreen glass, black side roof rails with adjustable cross bars, front and rear floor mats and cargo compartment cover. www.dodge.ca/en_dir.pdf/journey.pdf

Excellent review. I'm curious about the fuel efficiency as well. I noticed a significant improvement in my Journey especially after 8,000 kilometers. If this is common, I hope this would relieve some of the anxiety for those who are having high fuel usage early on. I can't understand how there can be such a big difference for some Journeys compared to others.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. When I first got the Journey I used to look for excuses to drive it around. I just completed a 13,654 kilometer trip and I still can't get enough. It's a dream to drive! Wait until your first long highway drive, you're in for a treat. Enjoy!

Just completed an 13,654 kilometer or 8484 mile trip through the U.S. and Canada. The best mileage I got was 7.3L/100km or 32.2 mpg ( four days 2881.8 Kilometers all highway) The worst I got was 10.9L/100km or 21.5 (city/highway) 2nd last day of our trip we drove into strong headwinds for 1,101.4 kilometers and averaged 9.5L/100km (highway). The final day we drove 1.374 kilometers and averaged 7.8L/100km or 30.15 mpg (highway). I noticed significant improvement in mileage after my first oil change at 5,000 kilometers and again at 8,000 kilometers. I now have 23,736 kilometers on my Journey, which I got on December 10, 2013. Had to stop in Reno for an oil change. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I also have the trailer tow package with the oil cooler(didn't tow by the way).

dedtomatoman, you are so right. Dodge has a proud history and nothing to be ashamed of. My first car was Dodge Coronet- the first of many Dodge products. Some of these so called Mopar "experts" should learn a little about the early years before they start forming opinions. I just completed an 8400 mile road trip in my DODGE Journey and I challenge anyone to find a better highway cruiser! Sadly I didn't see many Journeys, but I got a lot of great comments and compliments from folks who haven't seen one up close. I think Dodge needs a better advertizing campaign in the U.S. Here in Canada they are all over the place. Canadians have made them a top seller. My brother-in-law was so impressed with our Journey he bought one for himself. He just raves about it. All you have to is take it for a test drive- they sell themselves!

We just completed our big road trip. We left Windsor, Ontario at 6: a.m.May 26th and returned at 12.10 a.m. June 24th. We traveled through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota to get to Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit family. Arrived in Winnipeg on May 28th and left to go to the U.S. rest of our trip on June 4th. Drove through North Dakota and South Dakota and headed to Scots Bluff Nebraska to visit friends. Arrived in Scots Bluff on the evening of June 5th and left on June 8th. On our next leg of our trip (Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah) we saw Mount Rushmore, the Little Big Horn, Yellowstone ( Old Faithful) National Park, Bonneville Salt Flats and on to Reno Nevada. Got the oil changed on the Journey in Reno and then on to San Fransisco for two days. In Windsor everything is as flat as a table top- not so in San Fran and it's a little unnerving at first. I think my wife had her eyes closed most of the time. Left San Fransisco and headed to the Sequoia National Forest (elevation over 13,000 feet.). Just magnificent! I knew they were big, but you have to see them up close to believe it. The trees were so big, we lost the signal for our Sirius radio several times (the only time during our trip). After this we drove through L.A. to San Diego. The drive from L.A. to San Diego was supposed to be two hours- it took us five. I've never experienced such traffic. When they talk about the San Diego Zoo, they must be talking about traffic. Bumper to bumper and people weaving in and out over six lanes of traffic- too many near misses to count. I'll never complain about Toronto or Montreal traffic again. After San Diego we went back to L.A. for a couple of days. I actually found L.A. easy to navigate (GPS helped) once your on city streets. Left for Las Vegas for two days. Visited Area 51 - you can drive for a long time without seeing another vehicle- eerie! Toured Hoover Dam. Great engineering feat and the tour is much better organized than it was in 1976, the first time we visited. We left Vegas and traveled through Arizona to Roswell New Mexico. The entrance from Arizona to New Mexico is absolutely stunning. The most dramatic and beautiful transition of landscape I saw in the entire trip. After Roswell we headed home with an overnight stay in Tulsa. We left Tulsa on June 22nd and drove all the way home to Windsor. I shared the first part of my report to show you how many different driving conditions we experienced- roads, winds(especially Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma), rain (North and South Dakota) elevations and barren landscapes, to give you a better sense of what the Journey went through. How did it do? Let me just say it was everything I hoped it would be and then some. The seats were comfortable, ride was quiet, Navigation system worked flawlessly(spot on every time), the sound system with the player and Sirius radio were great and the U Connect was excellent. Just a great highway cruiser. My gas mileage was unbelievable. My best four days on the highway was 7.3 L/100 km or 32.2 mpg for 2,881.8 kilometres. My worst was 10.9L/100km or 21.5 mpg (combined city/highway). Driving through the mountains I got 10.7L/100km or 21.98 mpg. The drive from Roswell to Tulsa was 1,101.4 Kilometers against heavy winds and I averaged 9.5L/100km or 24.75 mpg. Leaving Tulsa for Windsor we drove 1,374 kilometers and averaged 7.8L/100 km or 30.15 mpg. The Journey must be broken in by now. To my fellow North Americans thank you for the hospitality and sharing your good humor, kindness, knowledge and the wonderful vistas of the U.S. it really gives you a better appreciation of what the pioneers had to endure when they set out to settle in such a vast expanse- with just rudimentary tools ( thank goodness for the GPS). Thank you to Dodge for producing such a fine machine for the first of many( God willing) roads trips! Rating for the Journey A+++. Total distance traveled- 13,654 kilometers or 8,484.20 miles!

Well my brother-in-law got bit by the Journey bug. He was so impressed with ours that he bought one this week. He picks his up tonight. This got me to wondering how many other members of the forum have family members who have also bought Journeys. Anyone else have Journeys or Journeys-in-laws in their family?

I just did 646 km's on the highway this weekend and got 9L/100kms. My previous best was 10.2L/100kms. The mileage has steadily improved since the 8000 km mark. I still haven't been able to put more than 58 litres, even though the fuel light comes on and it reads 41 kms to empty! Doesn't make sense.

congratulations Brett and welcome Wes.

I do the same!

Too bad this never took off! http://www.wimp.com/beetleidea/

Welcome! I joined the forum months before we ordered ours. The forum was quite helpful in helping me with the decision. You're going to love your Journey. My brother-in-law is so impressed with ours that he just decided to buy one too.

I had it treated with opti-coat (opti-guard). If you check out the appearance section of this forum it has the link to the Auto Geek forum to show before and after pictures. The results are stunning!

Those "rust spots" could be tree sap or bugs. You might consider getting a clay bar detailing kit or bring it to a detailer to get it done. I had mine done a few days after I took delivery and you wouldn't believe the dirt in the paint job picked up in transit. I also had the paint treated. At a minimum I would use a good polish before waxing. If you are concerned, take it back to the dealer and have them check it.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. We got our 2013 Journey SXT in December and love it. You're in for a treat!

Hi Double07, Yes I did buy it from Eshine. I put some in a spray bottle to make a quick detailer and it works great. I've bought quite a bit of my stuff from them. They are excellent to deal with and very prompt in their delivery. Haven't had a problem yet!
