Upgrading navigation on 2012 journey
DodgeCACares replied to Chris1276's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Chris, The navigation unit is provided with a database on the internal hard drive of your Radio. This database contains data for the Continental USA, major cities in Canada, Alaska, parts of Hawaii and Puerto Rico; the map data that is available at the time you purchased your Journey is believed to be the most up to date data at that time. That being said, there are system limitations, because of limited HDD space. With constant changes in the streets, neighborhoods, and business locations, there may be situations where the navigation system is not able to route you to your desired destination by entry method you have chosen. When comparing to a hand held unit or smart phone, you have to keep in mind that these units are designed differently, one strictly for mapping and the other obtaining data information via frequencies/Wi-Fi/satellite/etc., and will not provide the exact same information as what is stored in your radio. Navteq periodically releases updates to the navigation system at www.navigation.com or contact them directly at 1-866-4NAVTEQ (866-462-8837) - 8:00am - 6:00pm CST. This includes those with Garmin navigation and please notes that there is a fee for the update. Hope this clears things up. -

Astral, Got your PM, just happy you were able to get it working agin. I highly recomend getting your DJ into your dealer if/when it happens again. I would hate to see this become an ongoing issue for you. PM if it you require my assistance and have a great day! -
Journey or what?.................
DodgeCACares replied to erbch's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Michael, Felicitations! If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to PM me; I will do my best to help. De la part de Chrysler Canada, je vous remercie pour votre achat! -
Mornin all! I'm not going to go on and on, you all seem to know what is expected and how to take care of your DJs. What i have attached is a PDF of what has been sent out to dealers as hand out to customers as a pocket reference. (obviously condenced) Hope it helps! 2013 OIL CHANGE INDICATOR SYSTEM_customer hand-out.pdf

kasper, Not knowing the age or KMS of your Journey, my only suggestion is to get it in to the dealer just to be sure that is the right repair and go from there. It’s not too often I hear of a Knock Sensor issue but if it really is that, you need to keep in mind that you have to pull the upper intake manifold to get to the sensor which a lot bigger of a job than you'd expect.

djw11, As vehicle owners, we are all learning as we go. Just when you have one thing figured out you find out your DJ can do somehting else. Don't be shy to PM me if you ever have an issue, I will always to do my best to help out!

djw11, Vehicle’s with “Keyless Go” will continue to run the engine with the ( key present-key in range) or ( not present- key out of range) once started. This is actually done on purpose, similar to starting your vehicle and leaving the key in the ignition. Once your Journey is started, it stays running; when you walk away the EVIC will say “key out of range” but will not shut off. This is part of a safety feature that enables the vehicle to stay running in the absence of a signal from your key in the event that you dropped someone off with the Fob in their pocket. i.e. you’re on the 401 and the passenger leaves with the FOB in their pocket or purse, your vehicle won’t shut down un-expectedly when it sees the (Key out of range). To give an example, you go to the hardware store with your wife, you run in (with the Fob in your pocket) and your wife gets in the driver’s seat to go get a coffee; vehicle will stay running all over town until the engine is turned off. Now the key feature here, or detriment depending on the situation, is that once the vehicle is shut off, it will not start again until the Fob signal is back in range. Hope that makes sense and helps you understand of the Keyless Go system.

those with fuel level issues
DodgeCACares replied to b1pig's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Good afternoon all, Just thought I’d let you all know that I looked in to this and, first things first, this is not a known issue with engineering so there is no official response. With that being said, from what I have gathered, this is either an issue where air can't vent out of the tank, or the fuel can't get in. So, either the rollover valve in the fuel filler neck isn’t allowing fuel in, or the vent to the tank is blocked not allowing air out Now most vehicles have a fuel tank pressure sensor. If/when the voltage increases dramatically, when filling - air can’t escape, which indicates a venting issue. If/when the voltage doesn’t increase, and the pump kicks off, fuel can’t get in, which points to a likely filler neck issue. Hope that gives a bit of clarity and if you are still concerned, I can only recommend getting your JC to your dealer. -
Monet, The part number for the cargo cover is 1DD79XDVAC and you can get details on pricing and avilability from your local Dodge retailer. I've attached a diagram for you to print off so your dealer knows exactly what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

Diggz, Sounds odd and haven't experienced that myself or heard of it here. Have you brought your R/T to your dealer yet?
-
Tommi, It could very well be a fuse and in that case, journey_sext is correct, you'll find all the fuse infomration in your Owner's Manual. In the even this is not a fuse concern, possibly a short or something of that nature, I would get your DJ in to your dealer to ensure that all is ok. Let me know via PM if you any help. Good luck.

lytefall, The parameters were set by engineering and there is no way of knowing why one day it comes on low the other high. drd is correct on the temps, must be below 40°F / 4.4°C. Year over year there are always minor changes, some noticeable, some not. If you are concerned, I recommend getting your JC in to your dealer to make sure all is functioning the way it should. Hope that helps.

Elmwoodie, Let us know how you make out with the camera and if you need any help, send me a PM.

nwaring, I agree, it is another trip to the dealer. If you need any help, please feel free to contact my counter part, Chris at DodgeCares, via PM. Since you're in Ohio, i can't offer much assistance. Hope it's nothing major.

2012 vs 2013 DJ (Differences?)
DodgeCACares replied to SRT Junky's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
SRT, There aren't any serious differences, mostly minor/cosmetic. As DodgeCares pointed out, there are the 2 new colors. You would be best suited to get to your local dealer and check 'em out. I had a '13 (Crew) for the weekend, as I'm looking at trading in the 2010 (SXT), and found out for myself that the DJ just keeps getting better and better! -
Wingit, Glad to see you are happy with your DJ! Just make sure you let your dealer know about the intermittent vibration so they can look in to it for you.

Next gen uConnect
DodgeCACares replied to Mcgusto82's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Astral, You wouldn't be able to swap head units due to connections and fit/finish. Like Mcgusto pointed out, we may not see the upgraded 8.4 in the JCs until a product refresh. -
Good morning all, Psyke, thanks for bringing this up. I just want to add to what I advised you and add to the thread. The Journey doesn't have a Dual Core HVAC system like the Caravan, so it will take longer to heat up. With that in mind, as your vehicle is still cold and the vent tubes are still nicely chilled, you may not feel the heat in the back for some time, like a lot of you are pointing out. Idling won't get things very warm even-though most of us have remote start, albeit a nice feature, you won't get much heat in the back until you're moving. How long it takes to warm up will vary and I will state that this is a characteristic of the DJs. Hope this clears things up a bit.

13,000 KM before first oil change??
DodgeCACares replied to caperinmuskoka's topic in Owner Impressions
Terry that's great! It's nice to see that kind of loyalty not only from a customer but a dealer who looks after a customer like yours has! Hope you enjoy your R/T for many years to come! -
13,000 KM before first oil change??
DodgeCACares replied to caperinmuskoka's topic in Owner Impressions
“Hello all – The attached PDF has information regarding Chrysler’s Oil Change indicator system. Please look it over, as it pertains to the discussion in this thread As for the selection of oil for gas engines and Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFV / E-85), they require specially formulated engine oils. These special requirements are included in MOPAR* engine oils, and in equivalent oils meeting Chrysler Specification MS-6395 and meet API Certification. MS-6395 contains additional requirements, developed during extensive fleet testing, to provide additional protection to our engines. OIL CHANGE INDICATOR SYSTEM.pdf -
Steph, The rear tends to take longer to warm up, as you already know, and the rear vents are usually only to assist the front vents in warming up the entire cab. That being said I will look in to this for you and also look into what feeds the second/third rows and what you can expect. As for your visit to the dealer, let me know what they advise and if I can be of any assistance.
-
Keith, I can honestly say that I haven't heard about any clicking noises with the radios. I would agree with Astral, sounds like it could be a speaker issue or some sort of interference. Is it only in certain modes (USB / Sat / AM/FM / etc.) or no matter what you have on? Let us know how you make out and if I can be of assistance.

tmx, My only recommendation would be to get your JC into your local Dodge dealer where they can help you get this sorted out and installed. The link below is the accessory link for your DJ. In the audio/video section, you'll find two different UConnect install kits just to make sure you have the right one for you model year. http://mopar.acc-acc...&vehid=155|1378 Hope this helps.

silverghost, This is the first time I hear of something like this. My recommendation is to go to the following link and input the requested information and you'll be able to see if your phone is compatible. http://chrysler.serv...ge/en/uconnect/ If all is fine there, get your DJ in to your local dealer and make sure that there isn't an issue with your Hardware. hope this helps and if you need any more information, let me know. Edit: Due to update to phone compatibility site, I updated my instructions.
