  1. Ok...so I contacted the seller I got the HID's from...they told me to install load resistors on the lights and that would fix the issue of only one light coming on after the engine is running. Sound like that would work? I have no idea. If it's really a computer issue, then how will a load resistor help? Just wanted to see if anyone on here has any advice for me.
  2. That's what I was afraid of. I may go back to the old bulbs and call it good, then. That's way too expensive. We like the look, but it's our family car and I can't have my wife trying to figure out how to turn the lights on when driving. What I don't get...is why it worked just fine for two weeks, and I'm now having a problem. I also thought that the new slim ballasts were digital, pretty much making canbus a non-issue. :/
  3. Ok...well, now my passenger side HID doesn't come on with the auto feature enabled. In fact, it seems as though I have to turn on the lights before the engine is running. It just started doing this. The driver side works with auto or by turning it on. What could that be? Bad ballast? All the connections are fine.
  4. New here, learning a lot about the Journey. We have a friend that sells used cars and he was able to score us a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT (2WD) with the 3.5 V6, third row seating, LED package and upgraded cloth seats with 57,000 miles on it for $12,800. $13,200 out the door. We feel like we got a SMASHING deal. The car is in immaculate condition...no stains on any of the seats, everything looks brand new. A few minor scratches on some of the body trim, but nothing huge at all. No rust. The engine doesn't have a a speck of dust on it. All in all, we are VERY impressed with the car and LOVING it. Just installed some HID lights...looks SICK! Put in an after market remote starter and we're good to go! Learning a lot from all the posts. Thanks so much!!!
  5. Not sure if you all have gotten it fixed by now or not, but I just bought an 09 SXT last month and had this same issue. Fixed it tonight...I'm pretty sure. I took the black plastic pin (that holds the door up) out of the overhead console all together. If you put your finger just under the pin and pry it out, it will snap right out. I looked at it for a long time...tried to cut a small piece of paper clip off and super glue that to the end of the pin to make it longer...couldn't do it. So, I took a piece of packing tape and rolled it up so that it would wedge right behind the pin housing and the overhead console. I attached that piece of packing tape to the back of the pin housing with super glue and trimmed it to be the size of the pin housing. I re-installed the pin housing by snapping it right back in and it is FINALLY holding it all up the way it should. If you REALLY hit the ceiling it can fall down, but I can hit it pretty hard and it stays in place. The door opens and closes as it should. Hopefully this was the answer...but for now...it works!!!
  6. I think the adjustment is great. Next to the wall, there is a line where the light stops....right at the hood. Just wondering about the flicker. Might look at canbus...do I really need it? I really just don't wanna burn out my wires or my computer. That's really my biggest concern.
  7. Ok...well...there IS flickering. But I only notice it if I shine my lights on a white wall, like you. Haven't noticed it in normal use. However, I'm concerned it may effect other drivers if they flicker. The lights turn on/on as needed with engine on or off. What fixes the flicker? The harness?

  9. 1. It's a basic after-market set from EBay. Paid $60 for them. Don't believe it's can bus. Ballasts are small. 2. I noticed no flickering at all as I drove for about 30 minutes last night. Didn't try on off with engine running last night, but did just after installation during day without engine on. I do have the "auto" lights on. I have had no errors on the computer, either.
  10. Ok...I installed a pair of 8000k hid's in my 09 Journey today. Love them! However, I did not use a relay harness and they work fine. So...a couple questions: 1. Should I purchase and install a harness anyway? If so, why? Would I be saving the wiring of my Journey possibly? 2. Do I really need a capacitor? If so, why...& how are they installed? I'm assuming if I do install this other equipment, I'll wrap most of it in electrical tape to protect the connections from water. Thanks for the help in advance!
