2010 Journey AWD 3.5l SXT freeze plug issue now a catastrophe

Local shop charged me around $1500 CDN after taxes. Mostly labour as parts were cheap.- 6 replies

Try putting the vehicle in neutral and then start it. If it starts it may be the neutral safety switch which is inside the transmission causing the problem.

So the problem was bad lifters? I've got the same noise but it started at around 90,000km. Currently over 110,000km -

Just had frost plugs replaced on my 2010 journey 3.5L. Had same issue with leaking coolant then one day just started pouring out. Replaced all the frost plugs 2 of them completely rotted out one had a pin size hole other one had a hole size of a 3.5mm headphone jack.- 6 replies

Well not to hate on the guy he did investigate alot more than the other 2. Hes dealt with alot of dodge vehicles and has alot of issues with the 3.5l pentastar engines. He basically told me he'll put in a used engine which would cost about $1800 has about 82000km on it or a new engine closer to $5000... the other mehcanic just gave me a estimated cost to fix of $1000-$3000 just from listening to the engine run for about 5 min. The third mechanic who said its probably a connector rod didnt even want to deal with it cause he said the 3.5l pentastar engines are so sketchy you fix one thing something else will go.

The mechanic who said the engine needs to be replaced said it was a knock in the engine but why replace the whole engine with another used one instead of fixing it?

Dodgecacares; i haven't taken it to the dealer since the closest dealer is about 400km away. I did take it to 3 different mechanics. One says something is worn out, the other says i need a new engine all together and the other said it may be a worn out connentor rod. No one has been able to be find out what the cause is 100%. They all said i shouldn't be driving the vehicle at all and i drove about 3500km while having the problem come up(drove from top of the province to the bottom, and back). The change oil indicator light did not light up, instead a message comes up when you first start the vehicle (where the digital campass and thermometer is located).

My engine just started making this noise as well. Oil level is okay. The message comes up saying oil change required but even after getting an oil chnage it doesn't go away. The check engine oil light does not come on though. Its a 2010 rt with about 98000km. You can hear it while idling and it gets quieter when you put it in gear and then increases for a bit when you put it back in park. Also increases at higher rmps around 2500-3000.

I had 22s on my dj over the summer. Only issues were turning since the battery sits right infront of the driver side tire in a metal housing which makes contact while turning. Other than that no issues. People stare you down when your cars all shined up and cruising down the main strip. It does feel a little heavier and you do have to be more careful when driving in area's with bad roads and pot holes.

anyone on here install any type of off road exterior lighting on their journey? I'm planning on getting a short light bar to go around the lower grille area and possibly a longer one around 50 inches to be mounted above the windshield.
