Me loves my Journey!! Looking forward to an R/T to replace my SXT in a couple more years. Or the new Crossroad, that thing looks "sick"!! -
Welcome to the forum

Like the wheels!! And the silver on the rear bumper looks good too.

I can see why, its a Journey!!

Congrats on your 1st new car!! Welcome to the forum.

You know, I thought so to at 1st. I think the shifts in the van come quicker and smoother, especially the first few gears. I find the Journey (FWD) to be right the opposite. It seems a little weaker from a stand still but really pulling hard after the 1st couple of gears. Haven't tried a burnout yet, although I have squealed the tires in 1st and 2nd with TC off. The torque is quite impressive.

What Did You do to your Journey Today
Addicted to Dodge replied to guls's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Had our 1st snow of the year yesterday in West Ga. Was able to drive my Journey for the 1st time in snow. Did great, a lot better than my trucks do. I don't know squat about driving in snow and ice, (other than I hate it) but I seem to have more control with FWD rather than anything RWD. -
That's great, I also have the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty on my Ram. I plan on keeping it my whole life. So I hope they are serious!! Great dealer story BTW.

You will never find a more dedicated group of people than Mopar fans. They are the best!! Good luck with your repairs

Congrats on your Journey and welcome to the forum.

Valvoline makes a Full Synthetic ATF4. I changed my Chrysler minivan recently, and plan on doing my Journey when the weather warms some. I drained the reservoir 3 times over the course of 2 weeks. Topping off with full synthetic each time to completely rid the system of the original fluid. I haven't noticed a huge difference in performance but it seems to have helped the cold start whine I was hearing. I know our cold starts are weak compared to up North but we have seen a couple nights in the single digits (Fahrenheit) lately and I haven't heard the noise at all (knock on wood).

I would definitely check your fluid level. I don't know of any filter either. You could try to siphon the PS fluid out of your reservoir, and try filling it up with a synthetic PS fluid or ATF4. If its pink then you have ATF4, if its a clear amberish color then you have PS fluid. Make sure to stick with what you have in the reservoir, don't mix them.

Dodge Journey Engine Air Filter Replacement Guide
Addicted to Dodge replied to Journey_SeXT's topic in Engine & Transmission
Great idea Journey SeXT, the same topics seem to come up often (air filters, oil filters, synthetic vs. conventional). Even though the forums/debates can be pretty entertaining, I think it would be great to see a "how to" for these topics. -
Welcome aboard!!

Loud squealing noise cold start.
Addicted to Dodge replied to whitesxt's topic in Engine & Transmission
I wasn't getting this sound on my Journey but the Town and Country I own was doing this same high pitch squeal on cold start. I took it to my dealer and they couldn't duplicate the noise and didn't have a solution. So I started looking around the engine bay for any sign of where the noise was coming. I noticed that my Power Steering Fluid was just barely touching the MIN mark on the reservoir. I did do some research to determine the right fluid for the T&C and it calls for ATF4 or power steering fluid (my Journey does also). My fluid was pink so I knew I had ATF4 in my reservoir. I drained the reservoir down slightly and topped it off with synthetic ATF4. I was getting this noise at any temps. below freezing, but I have had 5 or 6 cold starts below freezing since and I "haven't" heard it at all. I think the low fluid level was causing the noise. I am not sure this will solve any of your problems, but its worth checking on. -
I agree, they are great!!

Around town fuel mileage on a new car has never been great for me. My Journey was about the same when it was new but now I am seeing 17-18, and most of my driving is in town. Also I notice long warm ups kill my gas mileage. Congrats on your Journey, hope you enjoy it!!
