Welcome to the forum, congrats on your new Journey as well, The new filter design doesn't hold as much oil as you would think. Its also on top of the engine so naturally gravity will allow most of the oil to run back down into the engine while its not running. If your oil is completely drained, it should take 6 quarts (not sure how many liters that is) of oil to fill it up.

That's interesting, my 12' was built in August, so they must have swapped mid year as you stated. Mine also has the bigger updated brakes, and I have heard they did a swap on those mid year also. Seems odd to change things mid year, but better late than never I suppose... Hard to say about changing oil viscosity now. Some folks might say "yes", and some folks might say "no", but the Pentastar hasn't been around long enough for anyone to truly know. I would say "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

Hydraulic lifters bleed down over night, or while our Journeys are resting. 5w30 being a little thicker, doesn't get back to the top of the engine as quickly as 5w20 (hence the cold start clatter). That's why I am a believer in synthetic, it provides maximum lubrication even while an engine isn't being used. Its really the only drawback to a Variable Valve Timing engine. My 12' says 5w20 so the 5w30 thing must be a first year bug.

Me too!!! Glad we only get ice once or twice a year (if even that). They don't have salt trucks where I'm at so when it does ice over, we are screwed. Local weather stations incite riots at the grocery stores, people panic in search of milk and bread, and everyone acts as if they have never seen ice or snow before. That's exactly my thoughts!! My Ram is 4WD and it sucks on icy roads. The back end loses traction almost immediately upon touching the ice. I am sure a good set of winter tires would help but not really an option considering we very seldom see these conditions. -

Oreilly's is great and Autozone is also great. Never have had a problem finding anything through either place. I prefer Summit because they have everything and usually get it to me within a day or 2. I can see where an aftermarket oil filter would be a concern, but K&N air filters have been proven to outlast and outperform any paper filters out there. -

As wingit11 stated, the K&N is a lifetime filter so if you choose to order one then go ahead and order the filter recharge kit and you will never have to worry with it again. I also have a K&N on my Journey because the paper ones at the local parts store were more expensive than ordering a K&N through Summit Racing. Hope this helps!! -
Welcome to the Forum!! My 12' Journey will not allow a remote start if the fuel is low I have noticed.

I agree, the dealer will just change it with the same crappy brakes and soon the OP will have the same problem again. I was lucky when I bought my Journey to get one with the upgraded brakes and they are great. But Chrysler must do something soon with these dealers that refuse to keep people satisfied. I absolutely hate going to my local dealers, I become tense and almost confrontational before even getting there. Chrysler must do something with the corrupt dealers these days ASAP. -

Block heaters makes more sense. Down here we only see those on Diesel Engines. You Canadians are BRAVE! We got down to 25F last night. lol

2013 Journey CVP 4 speed transmission "clunking"

I will say that a re flash can do wonders these days. But it will "never" take care of mechanical malfunction. It might be a good idea to try a couple different dealers if you don't get results from your current dealer. If you haven't already, I would take some time as well to check for anything obvious (rodents, debris, etc.) under the hood and under the car in the area you are hearing the noise. Good Luck -

A clicking sound is definitely not normal. I would take it to the dealer and have it checked asap. I also had a re-flash on my Journey and it shifted awful through the relearn period. After a few hundred miles it started improving and now it shifts great. But the clicking sound is something that would concern me and just to be safe I would get to the dealer.
