There is a fair amount outside Atlanta, Ga. where I live. But I do notice more these days than ever before. I agree, Jeeps are very popular in my area. I have already seen a few on the road and every local dealer has them showcased out front. I got a good look at one up close while at the dealership the other day and it was surprisingly really nice. I could see myself driving one but I would hate to be a guinea pig for the 9 speed transmission. If Chrysler gets it right though, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in our beloved Journeys in the near future.

-25? Holy Crap!! I cant imagine what that must feel like. Or how an engine can even turn over at that temp.

The Pentastar is a lightweight, thin walled, aluminum motor with miles of timing chain. The chains are stronger than belts but will make more noise than a belt. Then once you consider that most of the bolted on components are plastic, there just really isn't much to suppress noise when its below freezing and you attempt a cold start. Noises that were once covered up by thick steel forged blocks are now a little more pronounced due to the lightweight aluminum blocks. I am no master mechanic and someone else might have a better answer. But through extensive research over the past couple years, these are a few things I have learned. I also leave my car out in the weather and these noises really bothered me after I bought my Journey. Now it doesn't seem to bother me, as the sounds seem to have gotten better with age. I wouldn't worry to much about it unless the problem becomes worse.

Got a rear diff leak on your Journey

I am not fond of most dealers as well but sometimes you must do what is necessary to get results. Owning a Journey can be a great experience when things are right. Good luck -

My 12' is dry as a bone. Your case is rare. If you bought it new then you should have a warranty. Take it to your dealer and let them get you going. I also had a leaky diff seal on my 08 Ram shortly after I bought it. I had it fixed and haven't had a problem since. Best truck I have ever owned. BTW, although the Journey has been out since 09, the drivetrain was totally revised for 2011 and current models. Good luck finding a perfect car... -

'09 Dodge Journey SXT, WORST CAR I EVER OWNED!
Addicted to Dodge replied to ToneLoc1148's topic in Owner Impressions
Another little trick with the 09-10 Journey's is to put the key fob in the ignition and turn to the "on" position. Then while the ignition is in the "on" position, push lock and then unlock on the key fob. This will sometimes disable the vehicle security system allowing your Journey to start. The security system on the early Journey's was a known problem and if this is the case, then your Journey should start. Another option would be trying to crank it while in Neutral. Sometimes the shifter switch can become hung up in Drive or Reverse, as Larryl mentioned above. There is also a known problem with the WIN module on the 09 Journey's, there is also a TSB for this. I would assume the Chrysler dealer should already know this and should have checked this, but if they didn't it might be worth following up with them to make sure they checked it. Its a simple solution that needs to be checked by a qualified Chrysler dealer. The Chevy dealer does not have the proper equipment equipment to diagnose your Journey. Sorry its the worst car you have ever owned but I truly love mine. Good luck -
Loud squealing noise cold start.
Addicted to Dodge replied to whitesxt's topic in Engine & Transmission
I have become use to the normal cold start chatter from my Journey and T&C also. It is perfectly normal for a Variable Valve Timing engine to have cold start chatter. But this was a high pitch squeal that didn't sound normal at all. Hopefully it was just a fluke. Or, hopefully it just wont get cold again! -

Anyone find a fix for this? We finally had a really cold morning the other day and I heard it with our T&C. My Journey hasn't made the sound yet but the T&C made the sound briefly for a few seconds. It was pretty loud and annoying to hear. -
Sorry to hear that because judging from your profile pics you really spent some time on your Journey. It looked nice!! But honestly, I would never buy a vehicle the first year of production. It usually takes a few years to work out the kinks, nobody who the manufacturer. I have had 0 issues with mine so far (knock on wood). Good luck

Welcome to the Forum. Always good to see a fellow Georgian!! I also have a Pearl White SXT. Its been a solid car so far.

Man, what a sad day for that Journey. Beaten, molested and she looks cold too!!

I have owned my Journey for over a year and I am still learning good and bad things about them. She might be looking to start a friendly conversation as well so that when she needs help in the future she can feel comfortable about asking for it.

Dealer body shops are a good choice. My cousin works for my local Dodge dealer body shop and they do great work. If you need any assistance I would be glad to put in a good word for you. Either way Good Luck to ya!!

Dealer tried to sell me unnecessary service
Addicted to Dodge replied to Jay Sixspeedrt's topic in Owner Impressions
Service managers are salesmen. They have to sell if they want to make commission. Eventually the pressures become to much and deception becomes the last resort to feed their families. You can blame the dealers for this. They can replace a rep who gets a bad name, but they cant replace their stealership. I love when they say "the person you dealt with is no longer here, we had to let him go due to multiple complaints". WHAT A JOKE!!! -
I agree, glad everyone is ok. Hope you get it back good as new.

I have felt this in my Journey but it isn't actually showing yet. Being 6' 3' 245lbs I usually wear seats a little faster than most. Kinda Sucks!

Cool, wasn't sure if it was just me or not. Thanks

I have noticed that new post are not displayed on my main page anymore. They use to be on the right hand side of my main page. Then a couple weeks ago I noticed they were moved to the left hand side. Now, they are gone all together. Anyone else having this issue?
