I have added sales code LMK for you. Return your vehicle to your dealer and have them perform a reconfiguration, which will pick up the new sales code and allow you to enable the DRL through your touch screen. Remember that when you check the box for DRL, they will only come on when the vehicle is in gear and if the regular headlamps are not on.

Maps are gone
Journeyman425 replied to Chris Brashears's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
The map has become corrupted. The current repair requires a radio replacement. I was just as surprised as you to learn this on my own 2013 Crew. Just had it done last month. I thought for sure that I would be able to load new map data on a flash drive and update the radio accordingly since every other feature worked perfectly. Not so. The repair itself was simple and does not require re-pairing phones as that is done via the telematics module. My radio was backordered and took about three weeks to obtain. -
Like yourself, I was disappointed that my Journey does not have this feature. I have a 2013 Crew which is the same as a current Limited. My 1999 and 2000 300M's both have this feature. It is controlled by the Memory Heated Seat Mirror Module (MHSMM) which cannot be fitted to the Journey as it interfaces with other modules. The Journey's wiring architecture does not support it.

Sounds like your 2013 does not have Auto Headlamps and your 2014 does. Look at the headlamp switch. If one has an "A" position and the other does not, then there is your answer. It is not a function of DRL. DRL, if equipped, come on when the regular headlamps are off and the car is shifted into Drive. Auto headlamps will turn on the headlamps automatically when the ambient light level drops below a pre-programmed threshold (as in entering a parking garage during the day).

All four should be replaced regardless of the drive system. Mismatched tread patterns will create more handling problems than they solve.

2013 Crew vs 2012 R/T

Change the cabin air filter too, behind the glovebox door (very easily done). It may have pet hair trapped in it which just re-introduces the odor back into the HVAC system. -

Journey rolls on hills when in drive
Journeyman425 replied to k9roo's topic in Engine & Transmission
It's a normal condition. Engine RPM at idle is set very low by design for economy and emissions reasons, and there's not enough torque at those engine speeds to overcome gravity on slopes above a certain grade percentage. The Journey is not the only vehicle that exhibits that symptom. Even Hemi powered 300's and Chargers roll back on some hills. -

Man, I love those... -
A bad dealer experience goes a long way towards a sour ownership. Hopefully that situation will improve with time. We absolutely love our Journey. It really grew on me the longer we've owned it. I've had a 300M for 14 years and that car is a tough act to follow, but the Journey is close in many ways and in some it exceeds the Chrysler in terms of refinement. Give the powertrain some break-in time and the mileage will go up. There will be a drop in fuel economy when the cold weather hits. Do they use winter blend fuels where you are? We usually drop 3-4 MPG in the winter between that and the remote starter. Right now we average 23-24 MPG each tank. HIghway trips routinely yield 28+ MPG with cruise control and 68-70 MPH speeds.

The Crossroad is still available. The wheels, front and rear fascia trim, rocker panel trim are different from the Blacktop, and there is a Crossroad-exclusive seat material available as well. Mechanically they are all identical.

Grand Cherokee, Ram Trucks, Durango and 300/Charger/Challenger were the only models that I knew of up to 2014 that had Uconnect Access available. Possibly 2014 Cherokee also but not sure. Haven't been updated yet on 2015 availability. I was disappointed also to find that my Journey would not have it. Would be cool to start the car or unlock it via my iPhone, plus the Pandora feature.

One way is to scan the TCM at a dealer and compare the software in the car to the current release. Also, updates are sometimes released in Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) which are generated to address known issues or to aid in diagnostics for certain problems.

There have been software updates to improve shift quality. It's possible that the PCM software is not at the latest release. It can be easily updated if that is the case but it requires a dealer visit. You recently purchased this car, yes? Did it come from a Chrysler Group Dealer? They *should* update it for you or at least check to see if there are updates at no charge to you if so. Even still, though, the shifting is not as smooth and precise as I'd like it to be, either. What's unusual is that, as you pointed out, this unit is used in so many Chrysler applications and it does not shift the same in any two platforms. The 62TE-equipped minivan, for instance, has much better shift quality overall than the Journey - unless it is placed in its "econ" mode. In that mode, it shifts very abruptly and early to achieve maximum fuel economy at the expense of refined driveability. I feel that if my Journey's transmission shift points were just a couple hundred RPM higher, the shift quality would be significantly improved. Like JKeaton states, using Autostick brings much better results. One thing I have to say is that it has improved noticeably now with over 25,000 miles on the clock. I still much prefer the shift quality of the 42LE four speed in my 300M. At 294,000 miles, it still shifts perfectly smooth in either Drive or Autostick. One other thing to consider is the adaptives. Your car was driven by a different person for the first part of it's life. The transmission has certain adaptive capability, of which the process may still be ongoing as it transitions to your driving style. If your dealer does, in fact update your car's software, then those adaptive values will be reset in addition to receiving the updates.

The HP difference comes mostly from the air intake on the Challenger. The engine orientation in the Challenger is longitudinal rather than transverse and allows for a less restrictive intake system. Some minor PCM revisions were made to take advantage of it and the result is the higher HP number. Like RTMan and Jkeaton have stated, you'd be hard pressed to feel the difference. But the Challenger competes directly with Camaro and Mustang, both of which offer V6 engines of similar power. So, from a marketing standpoint, the Challenger has to come to the party with the same numbers. That's really the only reason for the difference.

Welcome and congratulations! Yes, most if not all accessories are compatible for the last few years - the last major update to the JC body was 2011.

2013 Crew vs 2012 R/T
Journeyman425 replied to tk-4's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Overall very reliable from my standpoint. 2013's feature the improved brakes mentioned above which is a big plus. I was wondering about the price differences since U.S. model Crew and R/T are similar in content - R/T has the performance slant and is slightly better equipped here, but Canadian models differ quite signifiicantly. Look for a leftover 2014 and check all the rebates that are available on them - you might get pretty close to the range of the used ones you're looking at and still get a brand new car with a full factory warranty and all the improvements that have been incorporated in them over the years. -
The luggage on the roof is a fuel economy killer. As the engine breaks in the mileage will improve a bit also. According to my EVIC, we consistently achieve 27-28 MPG on the highway with four in the car and cruise set for 68-70 MPH.

Daytime Running Lights Activated
Journeyman425 replied to generaltso's topic in Accessories, Modifications
The sales code was either present in the configuration when it left the factory, or yours may be an early build 2014 which allowed the code to be added before Chrysler made the change.
