Auto Locking Question
Journeyman425 replied to maqua's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
The Journey, and all Chrysler products for that matter, have no provision for passive locking with the sole exception of the rolling door lock feature which you may enable or disable. -
Welcome to a very cool chapter in your life - Journey ownership and forum membership!

Nothing to worry about. It is a time-consuming repair but not an overly difficult one for the right technician. Check engine light with P0302 cylinder #2 misfire is the most common; I've seen one or two on cylinder #4. Cylinders 2/4/6 are all on the left bank. In the majority of cases, the misfire cannot be felt but is detected by the OBD system since there is a corresponding rise in emission level. Not every engine is affected. We have far more 3.6's on the road without problems than ones that have come back for repair. None of the replacement heads have come back for repeat repair.

I'd be surprised to see any 2013's involved with head issues - we have done a bunch of heads and they're all 2011 and earlier 2012's. No '13's yet.

Sounds like the left front brake caliper is not releasing. When that happens, it overheats the brake rotor, causing it to warp which will explain your shake at 50 MPH. The smoke and smell are from the overheated brake pad material. Did you recently have a front brake job?

First step is to contact your dealer. This issue will require diagnostics. The root cause may be something very simple but it has to be diagnosed at your dealer first. Keep us posted as to what is found.

The show car apparently was fitted with larger than stock tires. Too bad they didn't leave those on or make them optional - looked good with the meatier rubber, IMO

It's a well-documented issue; Chrysler is simply informing you that they will stand behind the repair should it ever be necessary.

I upload my forum pictures to Photobucket first, then post them here from my Photobucket library.

Very tastefully done; looks great - nice job!

I would avoid that altogether as they are not compatible. Besides, my 300M uses five year HOAT coolant and there is no sign of corrosion in the cooling system even after 14 years and 291,000 miles. If you maintain the cooling system properly then you'll have no corrosion issues.

We stock it at my dealership. Yes, it is expensive but presumeably because in theory you should not be needing it for a very long time, if at all. Many folks don't keep a car for 10 years or 100,000 miles. $39.79 is a very good price. If you want to keep some on hand, then consider getting it at that price before it increases. And like yourself, I have 10 year coolant for my Journey, five year for my two 300M's, and three year for my old RX-7. Good thing my Merc outboard uses water!

How about some pictures?

Daytime Running Lights Activated

For 2014, the sales code LMK for DRL is no longer present in our dealer database. I have not been able to confirm, but it appears that LMK can only be added when the vehicle is configured at the factory if DRL is ordered as an extra-cost option. I have not been able to add LMK to any 2014 VIN that I have checked. One new member here purchased a Crossroad and it had LMK listed on the factory build sheet in the Optional Equipment section, not in the Dealer Added Options area. Sorry that I can't help you with this. -
36 PSI cold is the correct pressure.

You are right. Those days are over. Either you produce a high quality vehicle or you're out. Just take care of your new Journey and it will last as long as you want to keep it. I still drive my 291,000 mile 2000 Chrysler 300M every day. No one can tell me that an Accord or Camry are better - hasn't left me stranded once.

It's a great car, truly under-rated and yes, much more refined than your Patriot. You will love it even more after you've owned it for a while -they really grow on you. Welcome to the forum.

Post the last 8 digits of your VIN and the approximate mileage if you wish, and I can tell you for certain how it is configured.
