  1. It's not your imagination. The Journey underwent an extensive makeover in 2011 and a significant number of refinements and upgrades were made to the suspension, steering and brake systems, not to mention the interior redesign, and Dodge has continued to make minor improvements wherever possible in subsequent years since.
  2. Happy to hear this news! I forwarded a link to this thread on your behalf to one of the customer service case managers that monitors this forum but not sure if he received it yet. Please keep us posted and I sincerely hope that you have resolution once and for all!
  3. Thanks for the update. I've seen those C/V joints go bad in other vehicles - usually on the front driveshafts on older Durango, Dakota and Grand Cherokee models; they are not serviced separately like universal joints are, and require the replacement of the entire shaft. At least it is way less expensive than a torque converter!
  4. Welcome to the forum! Lots of great info and people here. Quite a daunting task to read all of the previous topics in the forum; credit is due to you there. It's an interesting read for sure! Just remember to maintain objectivity in the face of subjectivity when reading some of these posts, but I get the feeling that you know this already! Just about to hit 12,000 miles on our 2013 Journey that we have owned now for just over seven months. I love that yours has such low mileage; it is probably immaculate and certainly sounds like it is meticulously maintained. Now, how about swapping weather with us up here in the North? It's a balmy nine degrees outside my house right now and the wind is relentless.
  5. Mine made a short bark too, for the first time ever on Saturday morning when the temp was about 2 degrees. Made the same sound this morning, temp was about 9-10 degrees F. Lasted less than a second and was gone. My guess is power steering pump but it didn't last long enough to pinpoint. Everything is working normally. Right now, as long as the heated steering wheel is working then I don't give a damn about much else!
  6. Ha! Yes,actually I do...I knocked that post out quick just before getting my kids up for school
  7. Yes - there is a rev-limiter built in which prevents overspeeding the engine when in park or neutral.
  8. One of the conditions that must be met for the remote starter to work is "battery at an acceptable charge level". Make sure all doors, liftgate and hood are closed. Low fuel light or "check engine" light illuminated will also prevent remote starting.
  9. The diagrams always post differently than they appear when I copy and paste! Sorry for any confusion.
  10. I don't think they are interchangeable. Pictured below are two wiring harness connectors. The first one is for the left taillamp on a 2013 Journey SE 2.4 liter w/ 4 speed auto. The second one is for a 2013 Journey R/T 3.6 six speed. Note the different harness part number, gauge size and position of the wires relative to the connector. It might be adaptable if you are adept at wiring, but it does not appear to be plug and play. -ASSEMBLY TAIL-LEFT C3 Harness Family: Body Harness Part Number: 68176387AC Cavities: 3 Color: BLACK Gender: Female Part Description: GT 150 3P SEALED CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY Repair Kit Part Number: 68057317AA Seal: Sealed Engineering Name: Assy_Tail_Lamp_LT_All_Markets Connector No: D6641C Available Views: Location View Pin Circuit Wire Color Gauge/Size Function 1 Z923 BK/YL .80 GROUND 2 L71 WT/GY .50 LEFT REAR PARK LAMP DRIVER 3 L52 WT/DB .50 LEFT STOP LAMP DRIVER LAMP-ASSEMBLY TAIL-LEFT C1 Harness Family: Body Harness Part Number: 68176333AC Cavities: 3 Color: Black Gender: Part Description: Repair Kit Part Number: Not Available Seal: Engineering Name: Assy_Tail_Lamp_LT_All_Markets Connector No: D6641A Available Views: Location View Pin Circuit Wire Color Gauge/Size Function A L71 WT/GY .50 LEFT REAR PARK LAMP DRIVER B Z923 BK/YL .50 GROUND C L52 WT/DB .50 LEFT STOP LAMP DRIVER
  11. If your Journey is equipped with any of these radios, this may help: STAR Case Case Number: S1308000363 Release Date: 10/11/2013 Symptom/Vehicle Issue: REB, RHA Radio, Clock Gains Time Discussion: Clock appears to gain time, use the following software update disc to complete. Note: Some radios have a display indicating the radio is at the correct software level as displayed below. Use the disc update to overwrite and reset the radio to correct the clock gain complaints. There is a list of software part numbers which correspond to the appropriate radio sales code which I cannot reprint here - it will not copy and paste from the document. All dealers have access to this STAR case - just provide them with the case number at the top of this document.
  12. Debra - please be sure this correspondence is sent to Chrysler if it has not been already, to the address I provided for you above.
  13. Drive the car until the vibration begins at 2500 RPM. With your foot holding the speed steady on the accelerator, lightly apply the brake with your other foot and see if the vibration stops and then comes back. Please make sure the traffic conditions are safe for you to do this! Repeat the test a couple of times. If the vibration stops when the brake is applied and then comes back shortly after you release the brake, you may have a bad torque converter. Brake application often unlocks the converter; that is the purpose of this test. We had a 2010 3.5 Journey at my shop last week with the same symptoms as you describe, and that is the problem. Parts are currently on order for this customer's car. The problem could be snowpack too, but I would expect that to occur at a particular vehicle speed rather than engine RPM and would not expect it to affect shifting.
  14. Headphones are included with the rear seat video option. In the past, Koss was the supplier of headphones for Chrysler DVD systems; not sure if they still are or not. Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy your new Journey. Welcome to the forum!
  15. The 8.4N will alert you if you are exceeding the posted speed limit of the road you are traveling on if you are navigating on that road. For example, if your navigation system is guiding you, it shows the posted speed limit of the route you are currently on. Your actual speed is shown in red next to the posted speed limit for that road. There is no audible warning. I don't know if it will tell you if there is a red light camera present at a particular intersection. We've only owed the car for seven months and have only used the navigation a few times so I'm not as familiar with it as I'd like to be.
  16. I'm pretty sure that all the 3.6 engines for the Journey are produced in Mexico as the cars are assembled there. The 8th character in the VIN denotes which engine: G=3.6 liter and B=2.4 liter. I checked my Monroney label (window sticker) because I remember seeing something on it about the engine and tranny. If you still have yours, in the lower right corner there is a box which denotes parts content for your Journey. My engine was made in Mexico and the tranny in the US. That could quite possibly be the same for all of them (with the V6) but I'm not sure. The engine itself has a production number on it which denotes where it was made, but it is not visible with the engine installed in the car. Here is a link to the article that you referenced: http://www.pentastars.com/engines/production.php
  17. I love my Journey. I also work for a dealer. Of all the customers who have bought Journeys from us, I have only met one who does not like the car. It's a shame that you are dissatisfied with yours. You are certainly entitled to your feelings about the car, but as Addicted to Dodge pointed out, garnering support for a class action suit on this particular forum may be difficult indeed. The enthusiasts here far outweigh the dissents. I sincerely hope your problems are eventually resolved or that you are able to find an amicable exit from ownership into something you enjoy.
  18. Happy New Year everyone!
  19. There may be a reflash or update for your Journey to correct those issues. I suspect there is a fault code stored in one of the modules which may lead to a diagnosis of your problem. I did a quick check for Tech Service Bulletins (TSB) for those issues. There are TSB's for other radio issues but none contain your descriptives. Mention them to your service advisor on your next appointment for service, or set up an appointment to have them checked out. Bring both key fobs when you do.
  20. Ran a quick check on TechConnect ( I work for a dealer) to see if there have been any capacity changes. None that I see. I know the oil filter housing and filter element were changed for 2014 and are NOT interchangeable with earlier years, but the overall oil capacity remains at six quarts. I wonder if it was overfilled at delivery? Very important that the oil filter housing cap is removed prior to removing the oil drain plug. This allows the oil to drain from the OFH. I have changed the oil twice on my Journey so far, Both times it took six quarts and read full, but in between the first and second service I had to add 1/2 quart. I attributed that to break-in as I have driven 4800 miles since the last service and it is still full. I use 5W-20 synthetic oil now. The first time I used conventional oil. Check out this graphic and you will see why it takes a long time for all the oil to flow back into the pan! 09 - Engine, 3.6L/Lubrication/Operation OPERATION The oil from the oil pan is pumped by a vane type oil pump mounted to the bottom of the cylinder block that is chain driven by the crankshaft sprocket. The oil from the pump travels to the oil filter element and then to the oil cooler assembly. After the oil has been filtered and cooled, the oil enters the main oil gallery. The pressurized oil travels through the main gallery to the four main journals to lubricate the crankshaft main bearings. The pressurized oil travels through the crankshaft main journals to cross-drilling supplying oil to the connecting rod journals. From the number one main bearing gallery, oil travels to the right secondary chain tensioner and to the primary chain idler shaft. The main oil gallery also supplies oil to three sets of piston oil cooling jets. From the cylinder block the oil flows through drillings into the left and right cylinder heads. Left cylinder head oil is supplied to the left secondary timing chain tensioner, camshaft journals and hydraulic lash adjusters. Right cylinder hear oil is supplied to the right camshaft journals and hydraulic lash adjusters. The camshaft valve lobes and rocker arms are lubricated through a small hole in the rocker arm; oil flows through the lash adjuster then through the rocker arm and onto the camshaft lobe. Oil also flows through each of the four forward camshaft bearings into the camshafts and phasers. 21. We're just about to hit 12K miles, and the brakes are exactly as day one. No noise or vibration, and the car stops impressively well. Very impressive, in fact. Both my wife and I have really had to ger used to the difference in braking power over the 300M - the Journey requires much less pedal effort to stop in the same space. Even when the 300M was new, I don't remember it stopping as well as the Journey does.
  22. LOVE that red! Beautiful car - I know you'll enjoy it immensely!
  23. You know, I didn't either until at some point after I ordered my own. I was perusing some dealer literature and found this later : Dodge Journey Crew In addition to the standard SXT features, Journey Crew replaces/adds these features: Touring suspension (FWD) Performance suspension (AWD) The list is much longer but I edited it down for you to see. I would love to drive mine back to back against another to compare. I think the differences are somewhat subtle between levels. There is a marked difference between Touring and Performance Handling Group on the 300M (I own two 300M's and one is Touring and the other PHG) but that car has a different purpose altogether. If the Journey's ride was too harsh, sales would suffer.
  24. This is the only other Customer Assistance number that I have in our dealer database that pertains to your case. Have your case number on hand and give it a shot - nothing left to lose at this point, I am so sorry to say. Do you know if either dealer has contacted their District Service Manager, aka Factory Rep? Is Marvin a supervisor, do you know? This just kills me. I don't believe that your car cannot be repaired. Please call this number and give a resolution another try (you'll have to do it on Thursday or later; they've all left as of noon today for New Year's): Chrysler Group LLC Customer Assistance Center (CAC) 800 992-1997 Customer contact number regarding towing assistance, product information and dealer sales/service complaints
