  1. The 3.6 head issue affects all vehicles which use that engine in those years. Mostly 2011 production but some early 2012 as well. I haven't seen any 2013's with head issues. Chrysler got on top of the problem pretty quickly, so I'm quite sure your Journey will be OK. Symptom is usually check engine light with cylinder #2 misfire (p0302) as the diagnostic fault code.
  2. The car washes I have been through don't really spray water under very high pressure. None of my cars with sunroofs (two 300M's, two Mazdas and a Toyota) have ever leaked during the wash process. My current 300M, as I stated earlier, might spit a drop of water inside the car only in the drying cycle, when the blower passes directly over the roof wih its 100 mph wind blowing straight down on the roof. Any car might admit a drop or two of water under that condition and I'm perfectly fine with that, since that is not considered a normal operating conditon. That's all I'm saying and I think our friend Wes @ DodgeCAcares was simply concurring. It's great to know that your problem has seemingly been resolved and now you can continue to enjoy your new Journey, and look forward to your new 300S as well!
  3. Thanks for the update. Time will tell for certain, but in all likelihood they have solved your problem. A recent seal replacement on a 2010 solved a customer's leak recently at my shop. I could see the water running past the old seal and draining into the sunroof tub. The drain could not keep up with the volume of water coming in. New seal, cleared drains = no more leak!
  4. I looked in my 2013 manual. No mention of leaks in a car wash. My 2000 300M, whose sunroof has otherwise never leaked either, will occasionally spit a drop of water while in a car wash when the huge blower fan passes right over the roof panel as it blows the water off the car. I would consider that to be OK as it does not represent normal conditions. I have yet to take the Journey through a car wash. I have hand washed it several times since May when we bought it. Does not leak a drop. Your roof panel may simply not be adjusted properly. Diagnosing the problem is not terribly difficult in itself. The only snag your dealer might run into is the ability to water test it in Ontario at this time of year. Hopefully your dealer has an indoor wash bay where it can be tested properly.
  5. Most codes pertaining to EGR correlate to EGR position; you are correct. The sensor's job is to detect the EGR pintle position. The sensor, however, is part of the the EGR valve assembly and is replaced as a whole.
  6. Bright Silver was the color name. Hard to tell in the picture; the way the light hits it it could almost be the White Gold color that was available that year as well.
  7. Sorry. I had forgotten that fog lamps were available as an accessory. We haven't done that job on any Journey at our store. Makes sense (at least in the Chrysler realm) that you would have to flash the car to find the lamps after they've been added.
  8. Most people would not be able to tell the difference between OEM and what is now on your car. Very sharp! Love the stripe above the rocker panel. What color is your paint?
  9. I mean where I live, rolly - not here on the boards if that's what you're questioning!
  10. You have a great group of people behind you here on this forum, Debra. Loads of support and helpful ideas, plus a couple of Customer Care representatives who are monitoring peoples' concerns. I'm glad that you have finally been paired with an empathic listener and a shop willing to perform the correct diagnostic procedures necessary to find the problem. Do you know what parts have been ordered? A glass panel and/or gasket, or a complete sunroof assembly including the tub? Curious as to the diagnosis.
  11. It's all good! Welcome to the forum.
  12. It is true that different size tires will damage an AWD system. But the key to remember here is the actual tire size itself. There is a significant difference between a 225/55/19 tire and a 235/55/19, for instance, as opposed to a new set of 225/55/19 tires vs. ones which are worn 4/32" less. The AWD system in your Journey can safely absorb those differences; they are considered normal over the course of the life of a set of tires. Ideally, tires should wear at the same rate; realistically, they often do not. New tires should always be installed in pairs on the front wheels. Roughly 95% of the engine's power is transmitted to the front wheels and approx. 5% to the rears under normal conditions. When slippage occurs, power transfers to the back in proportion to the demand and only while slippage is occuring, then the power returns to the front in normal proportions.
  13. There is a maintenance chart in your owner's manual that outlines exactly what Dodge specifies for maintenance at each mileage interval. If it isn't printed there, then you don't need it. The only exceptions to that is if there are driving and/or use conditions that warrant more frequent service for certain items (i.e. trailer towing, frequent short trips, etc) which fall outside of what the factory considers "normal" driving. Things like fuel injection service and fluid flushes are a complete waste of your money and is nothing more than a revenue generating tool for a service shop. The factory actually issued a bulletin to us dealers a couple of years ago, dissuading dealer principals and service managers from these practices as they are harmful to customer retention and satisfaction. Fluid flushes, as per the factory, are not necessary unless the fluid has been contaminated or compromised by a component failure. Your manual outlines when things like coolant, transmission fluid and AWD/Differential fluids are replaced. For the record, a 2013 Journey has those services at 60,000 miles. The transmission fluid and filter are called for at 60K if used for towing or fleet/taxi use. Otherwise, the transmission service is due at 120K. Personally, I would change it at 60K myself - my 300M has had regular transmission services and still shifts perfectly at 286,000 miles. But at 41K - all of the extras they recommended to you are just that - extras. This practice irritates me to no end. Jaysixspeed is correct in saying that dealers should keep prices reasonable to attract more business. I can tell you unequivocally that that practice does indeed work. Keep the prices competitive and the service honest and the customer will return to you because you have earned their trust. Trust = business.
  14. Did a quick search of the service manual to see what controls the heated steering wheel besides the radio. It looks like the body control module is involved as well. Not sure if the appropriate wiring is already in the steering column or not. The other thing I'm not sure of is how does the radio and BCM recognize the wheel. Do they have to be replaced or can they be flashed with the option code for heated steering wheel? None of that is covered in the manual but certainly seems likely. Plug and play does not seem like an option in this case.
  15. I feel your pain. Glad no one was hurt for sure, but it just sucks when stuff like this happens. Our Journey was six weeks old when it got hit on our first road trip. And just like you - the 17 year old driver lied to his insurance company, saying we hit him (we weren't moving) after he told the cop on the scene that he indeed hit us. Cost me $500.00 (deductible)because this irresponsible person refused to take responsibilitiy for his actions
  16. Wow, that is one black car! Nice.
  17. Gotta love happy new Journey owners! Welcome all.
  18. My bad...I should read more carefully next time!
  19. For those five minutes, the car is achieving zero l/100km (0 mpg) which brings down your overall average. The remaining km/e value is based upon the overall average.
  20. Did a quick check of the service manual - all of our specs are for removal and installlation, diag and testing. The manual only deals with OEM replacement so measurements are not included.
  21. The sunroof seal is designed to seal the roof panel from wind and most water. Some water is allowed to drip into the sunroof tub by design. The tub assembly has four drains - one in each corner of the roof. If any of the drains are clogged - a common occurrence in my experience - water will drip into the passenger compartment because it has nowhere else to go. Diagnosing this problem is not difficult for your dealer to do. Water testing the vehicle is the first step to see where the water is going. I have seen some roof panels allow too much water in, which overtaxes the drains. Replacement of the glass panel seal has repaired that problem in some instances. There is a test for the drains to see if they are draining at the proper rate. Usually clearing them with compressed air cures any clogged drains. Sometimes the drain hoses are not fully seated on the drains themselves. In rare cases, the headliner has to come down to see where the water enters. In all cases, these leaks are repairable. This car is not designed to allow water into it! Anyone who tells you otherwise is misinformed or completely ignorant. It frustrates me when dealers throw their hands up in the air and say it cannot be repaired. The customer gets cheated and the company ultimately loses the customer. If you have not done so already, arrange to meet with the service manager (not the service advisor) at your selling dealer. Involve the owner if necessary. Show your documented previous repair attempts. Then, if you are not satisfied, contact Customer Care again and explain what you have done thus far. I know it's frustrating but there is a resolution to your problem. You should not have to be so persistent, but your not getting satisfaction so unfortunately you must continue to pursue your case until somebody steps up to the plate to help you. You have a wonderful vehicle and you deserve to enjoy it. Please keep us posted.
  22. Sorry, I thought yours had a 3.6
