I wouldn't bother.. just take it back to the dealers and ask for your money back... and never buy a dodge again -

Front End "Clunk" while Braking Over Bumps

Why bother to type this and just get rid of it you say?.mmmm well maybe you have $50,000 to piss away. But i sir do not.. and yes we all know every car conpany has issue... But after spending $50,000 and to be treated like you bought a dinky car when you are having an issue with the vehicle is just not right. I posted this just like most of the post in this thred letting people know i feel their pain. By the looks of every other post in this thred. Every dodge dealership is the same.. -

I have had my dodge journey in to the dealer since the first year i bought it in 2013. first it was struts and shocks (all the way around) after only a year of owning it. Then a year later it was the same noise that some of you are hearing from the front end.. I had to fight and fight. I finally had to go all the way up the chain of command. Head office had the tech take a ride with me so i could replicate the noise. After the tech heard the noise he was still unclear what it was...BUT he heard it. after i drove back to the dealer. The tech went in to the back and after a bit they called me up to the desk and said. we are ordering parts. front lower control arms bushing tie rods etc... took about a week then they did the work.. got the vehicle back and after a week i heard this loud clunk every time i turned a corner. It sound like something was going come through the fire wall. I went back to the dealer they said we will book you in. a week later i took it in and the tech came out and said i heard the noise but everything looks good.. I LOL and said so you are telling me that it is normal for a loud clunk sound to happen every time i turn a corner and drive down the street...... He hummed and said mmmm well give me a few more minutes... 20 minutes later the service desk person came running over to me and said here's your keys we fixed the issue you are good to go.. have a nice night... I was like... wait a minute... what was the issue... She said well i am not sure he didn't say but you are good now... I was so mad i said hell with this and left and called head office again and complained... (nothing happened) few months later i could hear a noise from the back end... Here we go again...... my 40lb daughter would hop out of the back seat and it would sound like a 500lb person was getting out of the vehicle... I took it back to dodge... again i had to deal with the bozo's once again. Well sir we can't seem to hear the sound... i freaked out... told them do i have to do your job for you?.... I took them back out in the Journey and showed them the noise just by pushing the Journey side to side... Again they said wow... mmmm don't know what that could be.... so back to the front desk. Ok sir we are going to order some parts... rear lower control arms and bushing etc... after they did the work they marked on the form that the bushing were really badly worn... after a month the noise is back again... I am so sick of dodge.. This was my first new vehicle and i knew back when i bought it not to trust dodge as my father had so much issues with them back in the 90's.. funny story. When i was looking at the dodge journey i said to the sales person. I am not sure if i want to buy a dodge because you guys are known for issues with suspensions etc... OH NO sir we have fixed all those issues.... I should of listened to my gut... Never again will i buy a dodge... PS... every time they call me ask me to come trade in my Journey i tell them...................I WOULD NEVER STEP FOOT IN ANOTHER DODGE DEALERSHIP IF IT WAS THE LAST PLACE TO GET A VEHICLE IN THE WORLD...But that doesn't stop them from calling me.. So now i just make an appointment when they call to offer me a trade in and i just never show up... -
Question about front end work
Maverick24 replied to Maverick24's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
When i said to the service desk. Last time i knew you need a alignment when replacing lower control arms. She said well trust me if it had to have one then the mechanic would of done it since dodge is paying -
I just got back from Dodge and they had to replace both lower front control arms, ti rods, linkage and bushing. I asked why they didn't do a alignment and they said it didn't need one. I am not a mechanic but I thought any front end work you would have to do an alignment. Someone let me know if the dealer is telling the truth.

Has anyone ever got a message on the message system but wasn't able to read it in time before it disappeared? I was driving down the road and heard a chime and when i looked down i saw a message but i wasn't able to read it because i was driving. But by the time i got to a stop light and toggled down to the message, it was gone..

Down shifting around third gear kicks or jumps more than often
Maverick24 replied to pdaddzy's topic in Engine & Transmission
Burn2011, I took my DJ in for a software update and the shifting smoothed out... My DJ now shifts very nicely. Still have to give it some gas it get it to kick down to a low gear to get that power to get up a hill etc... but as for the hard shifting. it's gone after the Software update. -

DT655608 I have 4700 Km. I believe that's 2920 miles is there a way to reset the adaptive transmission or does it just learn over time as your driving ways change? because when i first bought the vehicle i followed the manual and didn't push it for the first 500 Km -
I am almost due for my first oil change on my 2013 Journey. I normally used Synthetic in all my past vehicles but all my past cars were old beater . I want to know what other New Journey owners use, Synthetic or regular oil?

Hey Journeh, So did they replace the belt or part? and did you just take it to the dealer and say this thing has a whine when i start it and at idle? Also was it covered under the warranty? -

Thanks for the info, I might mention this problem when it goes in for it's first oil change. I am sure mine is a whining sound. tonight i was out picking up the wife and i was waiting in the car. So i thought i would give it a little listen. I happened to move the steering wheel a bit and the RPM's rose up and i could hear the whining. It kind of sounds like the power steering would when it's on it's way out I also wanted to ask what oil you put in your Journey. Synthetic or regular oil? I have always put Synthetic in all my vehicles but i have never owned a brand new one Thanks again. -

Hey Journeyman425, I see you have a Journey 2013 crew. I also just bought a new 2013 Crew back in July. I love this vehicle it is my first new car. But i was wondering if you have any issues with the shifting in the Dodge Journey. Seems mine up shifts fast. I'm in 5th gear going around 60km. This is fine until i hit a hill then the engine feels bogged down trying to get up the hill. I give it a bit of gas and the engine is very sluggish unless i give it good amount of throttle to get it to kick down a gear. The other issue is sometimes it feels like it shifts very hard up and down in the lower gears. Kind of like a kick when it shifts up and down The other issue is: When i start the Journey i hear a whining sound from the engine. Not so much on the out side of the car but from the inside around the center console do you have have any of these issues? -
Awesome thanks.

oh! that could be why i see water above the right side exhaust. But the question is i don't believe i had the A/C on today.. Then again i did have the Auto setting on. Could it have been kicking on the A/C?

I have had my Journey for 3 months now. I just notice this week water under the right side muffler. It can't be clogged all ready? I am going to check the drain holes tomorrow
