  1. Welcome to the forum. I don't know anyone who has done an engine replacement on a DJ so I can't offer any help.
  2. OK, went from a technical thread to a hockey thread. Lets get back on topic. Maybe start a sports thread in the Lounge?
  3. "They recommend", meaning the dealer? Of course the dealer is going to recommend a lot of things that are just not necessary, thats the way they make money, selling unnecessary services. Always, always, always consult your owners manual for recommended maintenance intervals and services. The vehicle manufacturer knows best. Learn how to work on it yourself to save labor charges. I don't use the dealer for anything other than warranty work.
  4. We had our 09 for 4 years and had 80k when we traded it in....got just shy of 23k on our 2013 (took a lot of trips the first year lol). The DJ is the primary "family" vehicle and the wife drives it 90% of the time. We normally trade every 4-5 years so she gets a new one to drive. Doubt we will see 100k on this one either.
  5. Yup : ) It's one thing to moan and complain, but at least ask for help in resolving issues. It's quite another just to join a forum and complain and bash and say the old: "I'll never buy a Dodge again!!!" Jeesh, if I had that attitude everytime something I bought had a problem, I would have nothing to own because I "would never buy another one".
  6. I swear...another one bitch wonder....some people....smdh
  7. If you mean the diameter of the ends are smaller than the "fingers" that hold the ends of the bulb, I just squeezed the fingers together so it holds the bulb tight.
  8. I never had any HID issues with the 09, had them in both low and hifgh beams. Plug and play. I'm about to find out if the 2013 is the same.
  9. Yes, we know you have brake problems. No need to post in every thread about it. Also, my DJ has zero brake problems, so your statement has no merit. I realize you need to vent but really..
  10. Not disagreeing with you cause everyone uses different terms, but a shimmy to me is a cyclic vibration that comes and goes at a constant speed. I.e. It's there one minute, gone the next, but starts again. On my Dakota, there was a shimmy and it was caused by out of balance tires. It was a vibration I could feel everywhere. Seat, floor, steering wheel.
  11. Start with a tire rotation and balance.
  12. Somebody post a pic of this. I can't find one anywhere.
  13. I have spot mirrors on all my cars. Bottom left corner.
  14. Happy thanksgiving everyone. Drove the DJ into the mouth of that nor'easter yesterday. I have to say, she did pretty good until we got to our destination, which is on the side of a mountain. Could not make it up. By that time there was about 7" of snow. The traction control actually made it harder. Had to turn it off so I could actually get power to the front wheels. This is as far as I made it. The road is clear now but yesterday it was covered.
  15. There is a larger underfloor storage area.
  16. You could always try disconnecting the battery for a bit. Resets everything.
