  1. Subject has been beat to death on this forum. OEM tires are soft, no matter who makes them. They are a different compound than you or I can buy from a tire store. You are lucky you got 30k out of them. Some get less, some get more. Kuhmo's get a bad rap because Chrysler chooses to use them as their OEM manufacturer. Other aotup makes use other brands with the same results. I have replaced the factory Kuhmo's with Kuhmo's I buyt from a store and they last way longer. Copied from another post I made (which I got from the web) "The tires that came with your last new car were not designed by Michelin, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Kuhmo or any other tire manufacturer. They were designed by the manufacturer of your car. If your new car came with a set of Kuhmos, Kuhmo made the tire but they made it to the specifications set by your car manufacturer. These tires are referred to as OEM (original equipment manufacturer). Furthermore, your manufacturer does not warranty the tires on your new car even though he tells you that you have a “bumper to bumper” warranty. Even though Chrysler designed the tires on your vehicle, they have no responsibility if they are defective. The tire manufacturer bears that responsibility. The OEM tires that came with your car can’t be replaced (which is a good thing) after they’ve worn out. And they will wear out much sooner than they should. This is because virtually all auto manufacturers specify very soft rubber which means they wear out too fast. Why would the manufacturer do that? They want that new car to have the smoothest ride possible, even at your expense of having to buy a new set of tires at half the mileage you should have to. When you test drive that brand new car and it rides very, very smoothly you’re more likely to buy it. You’ll find out how fast the tires wear out much later, and when you do you’ll blame it on the tire maker." Don't blame the tire, blame the vehicle manufacurer.
  2. Haha....same here. Seriously, the things people find to gripe about.....
  3. Welcome to the forum! Fine looking DJ you got there.
  4. Waste of money. Throttle body spacers do absolutley nothing on fuel injected engines. The principle of them is to allow more space for the air and fuel to mix. But since there is no fuel in the throttle body they are pointless. If they actually worked the car manufacturers would install them in the factory. Remember, car makers spend millions of dollars to engineer and test cars for power and fuel economy. If these things worked they would install them.
  5. Had our 09 for 4 years and 80,000 miles. Original battery when we traded it. Never had a battery issue.
  6. I got my Z28 and Mustang if I want to "play". I did not buy the DJ to race anyone, only to carry my family comfortably. Which it does in spades.
  7. Welcome to the forum!
  8. Sounds like the calipers are not releasing all the way and one pad is barely making contact even though the brake is not pressed. Did you lubricate the guide pins?
  9. It's not that the DJ isn't popular enough. There are tons of them on the road. It's the fact that the majority of DJ owners are not looking to up the performance of the vehicle (as previously stated). Am I interested in improving the performance of mine? Yes. Am I willing to spend $300-$400 for a tuner? No. The wife drives it 90% of the time as this is our "family" car. I did not buy the DJ with performance in mind.
  10. Yes. Give it a shot. Click on one of the photos in photobucket, and on the right side there will be a section called "Links to share this photo", you copy what is in the "IMG" link box and paste that directly into your post. Nice looking DJ by the way.. : )

    Bugs!

Good ol elbow grease, soft sponge and soapy water. I have do do mine about once a week. They meka special cleaners for it, but I'm afraid to use that for fear of paint damage. The key is getting them off before they have a chance to "set" or harden.
  12. You are going almost 2" wider and 1" taller. You probably will have some fitment issues without the proper offset wheels. Here's a good tire size calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator/225-70R16/265-35R22
  13. I dont even know if newer vehicles support "trickle charging'. There are so many electronics and computers and such. It probably thinks the engine is running since the battery voltage is being a bit "boosted" by the charger. It might be a pain, but you might have to disconnect the negative battery terminal to isolate the battery from the cars electronics.
  14. Don't try to "upload" the photo. Just copy the "IMG" link and paste it into your post. Like this:
  15. I liken all these systems to "smart" idiot lights....lol Still need to physically check the level and condition of all fluids on your vehicle on some sort of routine basis. Never rely on just the car only to tell you.

    Wheel locks...

    Whetever is cheapest and works.
  17. If your serious about it, send a sample off to be tested. I've never done this personally, but I know folks who do it all the time to base their oil change intervals off of.

    Hi

    Welcome to the forum!
  19. 6000 miles, 6 months...my limit....d@mn the indicator!!!
  20. I agree with you both. I just, I can't, I try, I, I, I JUST CAAAAAANNNNT DO IT!!!!!! I have a 95 Silverado with 200K and a 95 Mustang with 150k, I change the oil on those every 3000 miles and the oil coming out looks like, well, black water, I mean nasty looking stuff...I have the best (worst?) of both worlds. New cars that I waste money on too frequent oil changes, and older cars that apparently I dont do enough.... We bought our DJ in Nov. 2013 with 11,000 miles on it. I changed the oil in May 2014 when we were at 19,200 right after a trip to Chicago (thats 6 months and 8000 miles). The light was not on but I wanted fresh oil in it after that 1400 mile round trip. The oil was pretty black, but I have no idea if it was changed before we bought it. I reset the light per the manual even though it was not on, so I hope it still reset it. I will see how long it takes for the light to come on, but I dont know if I can wait.....in the two months or so since then, we have put about 2500 miles on her (trip to Florida last week). so we are approaching my dreaded 3000/3 month mark....can I do it?????
  21. It's a European thing.....kinda like a Canadian thing....which none of us "yanks" will ever understand....
