Probably dealer only parts at this point. i.e. expensive.

No problem. Yeah, that tint would come in handy in Az.

It's not a "dark" tint, just some tint. It does nothing to inhibit visibility, keeps the interior cooler on hot days. The biggest blind spot is the front A-pillar, but you get used to it. Whether or not the SE package is "worth it" is totally up to you. The biggest thing is the roof rack. Even though it does not come with cross bars, if you ever want to put something up there, having roof rails makes it easiet to secure.

I dont see how you could not tell the difference between the packages from the website.....just click ion the little exclamation point (!) and it lists what each package includes: The AVP package: ■2.4L 173 horsepower I4 DOHC 16V Dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) with 4-speed automatic ■17-inch wheel covers ■Bright grille ■Halogen quad headlamps ■Power heated mirrors, fold-away ■Variable-intermittent windshield wipers ■Body-color door handles ■Keyless Enter â??n Go™ with push button start ■Premium cloth low-back bucket seats ■Height-adjustable driver seat ■Rear reclining/fold-flat seat ■2nd-row 60/40 seat with fore and aft adjustment ■Full-length floor console with premium armrest ■Illuminated cup holders ■12V auxiliary power outlet ■12V center console power outlet ■Air filtering ■Driver and passenger lower LED lamps ■Front courtesy/map lamps ■Rear courtesy/reading lamps ■2nd-row in-floor storage bins ■Power locks, windows, driver 1-touch SE Package: ■Includes everything on AVP, plus these differences: ■Black side roof rails ■Deep-tint sunscreen glass ■LED taillamps The SE does not come with 7 passenger seating as standard equipment. It can by added as an option to the SE, but your not likely going to like the results of loading up a 4-cylinder DJ with 7 passengers. The V6 is much more suited for the 7 passenger seating, IMO.

Dash Cams...Anybody have one?
jkeaton replied to cskmom's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
My review is as follows: Setup can be improved, as the included directions are somewhat confusing because it's translated. A quick google search turned up others who have this that explains how to set it up. You can select either 2,3 ,5 or 10 minute lengths for the video files. I have it set for 3 minutes. Meaning it records 3 minute clips. If the card gets full, it just overwrites the first and starts over. Honestly, once I got it configured and mounted, I never worry about it. It starts recording on its own, so no operator interaction is involved. Set it and forget it kind of thing. Is it top quality? No, is it a good entry level dash cam for someone new to dash cam scene. Yes. I read all the reviews on this particular one. Most people complained about the instructions or lack of quality on the units display. Others complain how "cheap" it feels (well, duh, it's only $20 : ) I use the display only to get it aimed correctly, if I want to review a recorded video, I pop the card out and watch it on a PC. I suggest you read all the reviews. It works great for me and for $20, it works just fine for my needs. I will try and get a video posted up later. -

Wow....save your money....I got this one off amazon. Less that $20 and it works great. I got a 32 g sd card for it. Pop the card out and stick it in my pc for downloads. It's good enough to protect me. You wont pick out hairs on an ants butt, but you will be able to defend yourself when the idiot beside you decides to change lanes without looking. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053DDNW6/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -

@Journey41, I appreciate the fact you are being an informed consumer, drawing your own conclusions based on personal experience. You will untimately reap the benefits by doing so.

I agree with the "CR sucks" assessment. I dont let any magazine tell me something is good or bad, like stated, join a forum and educate yourself. We bought our 09 even though we had never heard of the Journey. It had the typical brake problems (solved by putting good aftermarket stuff on), door wiring recall, and a few other things, but never left us stranded. As stated above, when we were in the market for a new one, NOTHING would come close to the features the DJ had for the price range we wanted to buy in. I just knew that after 4 years, Chrysler HAD to have addressed some of the drawbacks from the original, specifically the brakes. We have been extremenly pleased with the 2013. Yes, the transmission wants to get into OD as quick as possible, and you have to really press the gas to get it to upshift, but thats more due to the delay in the drive by wire. I just shift it manually around town.On the highway it does great. There is really not much difference between the 4 and 6 cylinder mileage wise in my experience with both. It just takes a bit longer to get up to speed wiuth the 4. We get 18-19 around town with the 6, 25-26 on trips. This is a big, 7 passenger utility vehicle. Dont expect Rav4 or Escape mileage. If you are looking for 30+ mpg over amenities and asthetics for the price, dont get the DJ. Personally, the mileage we get is just fine with us.

steering wheel shudder and rattling sound
jkeaton replied to redtomatoman's topic in Owner Impressions
Our 09 had that annoying rattle from the piece in front of the wipers. It's just flimsy plastic and at certasin speeds it would get some sort of harmonic vibration, kinda like the Tacoma Narrows bridge thing....Once I found out what it was, I just learned to ignore it. -
If you have the 7 passenger, no way unless you fold one of the third row seats down. They wont fit straight across, but kinda catty-corner.
-
Thats great! I can opnly say we get the same or better mileage with the V6 over the 4. We would barely eek out 24-25 mpg on trips. 17-19 around town. I think they must have improved a lot between 09 and now.

Interesting that they need 2 vin number verifications. The inspector should be educated enough to know where the various vin numbers are located on all makes and models of vehicles, I'm sure you arn't the first. I'd try another inspection station, sounds like that one is manned by idiots.

Is it possible to add automatic headlights???
jkeaton replied to decoyboogie's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Welcome to the forum. The option probably has to be "turned on" at the dealer via a starscan tool. Probably cost you an hours labor to have it done. New vehicles these days usually come pre-wired for every option available, but not activated if the option is not part of the trim package. Basically they have to go in to the computer and "flip the switch" to turn the option on.- 21 replies
