Towing newb, what do I need and how much?
jkeaton replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Hauling & Towing
The 2.4 can barely pull the Journey around..... :violin: -
You can get wind deflectors just about anywhere. I found mine on ebay. A guy had the side window deflectors and a hood deflector that he took off a show vehicle, was never outside or driven for less that $60. These were stick on ones, not in channel and still had the original 3m tape. The in channel ones look cleaner but I could not turn down the set plus the hood deflector for that price.

good luck with the Ram. Nice trucks. Check out DF.com. I'm there too.

09's had their share of issues, first releases of automobiles usually do. Our 09 was pretty dependable. Dealer experiences can make thigs good or bad also. If I was thias guy, I would have sought out another dealership. Also, during this time period, Chrysler was in the middle of bancruptsy, the auto industry in general was tanking....remember the government bailout? I'm sure there was a heavy dose of poor moral within all dealerships, not knowing if they would have a job or not. NO excuse for crappy customer service though. IMO, Chrysler has turned things around nicely and hopefully Fiat will continue the trend.

That is the parts and accessories homepage. Look on the left side of the page under "Mopar Parts & Accessories". Click on whatever you are interested in seeing. Pretty simple.

$1200 for new tires??? Dang I'm glad I dont have 19" tires. For comparison, I got a set of 285/65-16 all terrain tires on my truck for less than $600 out the door, and those tires are twice as big as the Journeys. Read the other tire thread about Kuhmos. Kuhmos in general, do not suck. The Kuhmos on the Journey were designed by Chrysler and are soft, they will wear out prematurely. Depends on your driving habits. Cant comment on your other issues. Miine does not suffer from any ills....

On the left side of the screen, click which bulb you are intrerested in, the right side will then show all the bulbs they have that will fit. You gotta kinda know the approximate dimensions of the stock bulb then pick whichever one matches best. When I shop on there, I usually have another window open where I can google the bulb number of the OWM bulb and get the dimensions. This site is helpful identifying stock bulbs: https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgmain.aspx#fldYear

Welcome to the forum! We had the 4 cylinder in our 09, but have the 6 now and it is just so awesome!

This is true. However, I prefer the convenience of having my own scanner so I dont have to drive somewhere to get a code read for me.

Welcome to the forum. NO that is not normal. That is indicative of a fluid leak or air in the system, First inspect each wheel for fluid leaks, then the master cylinder and all brake lines. Check the level of the fluid. If no leaks and the level is fine, the brakes need to be bled. Oh, and do not ever take your car back to the place that told you it is normal for a brake pedal to go all the way to the floor. Next they will be telling you that your blinker fluid needs to be changed. -
I don't often, but I have 6 vehicles, so like I take a break now and then....

Towing newb, what do I need and how much?

You can start here >> http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2012_Dodge_Journey.htm -
You have 3/36000 bumper to bumper, 5/100000 powertrain. Alternator is not covered by powertrain. Most shops will charge a "diagnostic" fee just to look at your car, which is normally an hour of labor. $150 for an hour of labor is kind of excessive, IMO. Are there any other shops you can go to? Our 09 alternator started making a noise, I was able to isolate using an automotive stethoscope. Took it in and sure enough, it needed a new alternator. I could have replaced it myself, but they are over $300 for a rebuilt one. We purchased an extended bumper to bumper when we bought it so the warranty covered the alternator replacement (minus a $100 deductible).

There is no "kit" that I am aware of. You have to piece it together. Go to superbright LED's and put in your vehicle info. It will tell you what you need.

Canadians (Ontario)....Anywhere to get after market mats???
jkeaton replied to cskmom's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Thanks!! I spent quite a bit of time in Olds, Alberta the last few years, always was made to feel quite welcome....the mats are holding up great. As I mentioned, they are a bit more "flexible" than the more expensive ones, but they serve the same purpose, keeping muck off the carpet. I recommend them for those on a budget, not willing to part with a couple hundred for the weathertech type mats. -
Weight and cost savings.

I got these off Amazon. TThey are like the weathertech brand but much cheaper. They work just as good. They may be a bit more flexible than the higher priced ones, but they work great for us. http://www.amazon.com/Novline-13-04-210-Dodge-Journey-Floor/dp/B0077DT46O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393429513&sr=8-1&keywords=Novline+13.04.210+Dodge+Journey+Floor+Mats+-+Floor+Liners+-+2008-2013+-+Four+%284%29+Piece+Set+-+Black Sorry, I'm not Canadian, but I like to help.... -

Whay kind of "mat"? Floor mats or a cargo mat? Amazon has floor mats, thats where I got mine. Also depends on what you want. -
It's expensive because your paying someone else to do it. You can buy it for like $30 for 5 quart container and change it yourself. Even $66 for conventional oil is way too much for me. I wont let anyone else change my oil unless I get a coupon for a $20 oil change somewhere.

Man I love those chrome wheels......

It takes 6 days because you have a slow leak somewhere. You need to get the tire checked. 191kpa is equivalent to 27 PSI. I've driven on tires with lower pressure, but not for long. If I were you and I knew it took 6 days for the low pressure light to come on, I'd check it in say, like 3 days, and fill it back up until you can get the tire checked/repaired. Whether or not you damage the tire driving it underinflated would depend a lot on your driving habits. If you take corners like Mario Andretti, then, yes you could damage the tire. Seems like the easier solution would be to get the car to a tire place as mentioned to find out whats causing the leak and then get it fixed.

Couple of threads already existing on that silly felt tube.... http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/5325-felt-tube-inside-the-air-filter-box/?hl=%2Bfelt+%2Btube http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/3448-if-you-want-a-cai-for-your-journey-please-read/page-2?hl=%2Bfelt+%2Btube#entry33441 All it's there for is noise control.

So, do you add air to get the light off or does it just go off by itself? Have you checked the pressure?
