Exactly. Cars dont make drivers, drivers make cars. Learn the limitations of your vehicle.
-
All I can suggest is that no car is exactly alike. I have a full size 4x4 pickup and a Sebring convertible. Sometimes the FWD Sebring can handle bad road conditions just as good, or better than the 4x4. I dont expect any vehicle to handle exactly like another. Each one will handle road conditions differently. It is up to me, as an experienced driver, to learn each vehicles handling characteristics and not just "assume" I can drive one just like I do another. I dont doubt any of the comments about the DJ handling differently than other vehicles you may have and drive in the same conditions. It is a different vehicle after all. Maybe spend more time driving the DJ around and learning how it drives and adjust your driving habits accordingly. I'm not bashing or flaming anyone, I am just speaking for myself if it were me.

Lot of variables in play there comparing a Journey to a Monte Carlo or a truck. Wheelbase, weight, track, tires, etc. If you are convinced something is "wrong" with the vehicle, then I suggest getting it checked out by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible. You could have some broken/loose/worn suspension components causing the issue.

Maybe it's cause I'm from the south. I just don't understand how you expect ANY vehicle to act on solid ice?

Yep mine to.

Why not state what is wrong so we could provide some assistance. If you hate it that much, sell it. Get something else. Your post does no one any good.

Good luck up there....I got family in Cold Spring, NY...they say it is really cold and snowy....lol...I miss that kind of snow. We don't get snow here much. Mostly freezing rain, sleet. I can drive in the snow. Ice....i just stay home.

'09 Dodge Journey SXT, WORST CAR I EVER OWNED!
jkeaton replied to ToneLoc1148's topic in Owner Impressions
My attitude towards vehicles I buy is "Hey, I bought it". I learned to fix things the right way myself if required. I will take it to the dealer for warranty work only and if it is something the warranty covers, I make them give me a loaner and I wont take it back untill it is fixed and the PROVE to me it is fixed. You gotta look out for yourself. -
Yes, it will turn off after a short delay. It's like a computer, it has to "shut down" on its own.

Welcome to the forum. Where do you live? Are you driving in snow and freezing weather? As stated above, you might just have a chunk of snow or ice on something causing the vibration. You need to check it out at least yourself and see if there is something obvious.

Uconnect 8.4N HELP

I love Waze. -
Hahaha...I feel your excitement. Believe me, I spent the past 5 years driving our 09 with the 2.4 4-cylinder, which, while a good engine, could barely get out of it's own way.....I love the Pentastar performance. I find myself "flooring" it quite often.

Brakes are a non-issue, IIRC ever since they upgraded them in 2011/12. Earlier models with the terribly undersized brakes had tons of issues. Mine dont squeal at all. Going to another dealer for a second opinion is a good choice. I would also suggest making a service person ride with you so you can show them the issues.

I hate putting miles on the DJ so we never go anywhere..... B)

Wow....our 09 SE had front and rear pads/rotors replaced by me early on (less than 20k) and lasted until we traded it in at 80k. Only 2 sets of tires (OEM and the set we replaced them with), had the door wiring recall done, AC compressor, alternator and inlet runner valve solenoid replaced (all under extended warranty). That was it. Pretty reliable and nothing out of the ordinary IMO. I expected worse for the first year of the vehicle, but we were so pleased with the reliability we bought another.

Uconnect 8.4N HELP

Ah I see. They dont have those things around here. They were deemed "illegal" so they took them all down. -
Uconnect 8.4N HELP
jkeaton replied to dodge downunder's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Seems it would need some sort of built in radar detector, which can be illegal depending on what state you live in. I don't know how it would detect red light cameras. -
Anybody tried this rear bumper protector?
jkeaton replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Just remember you get what you pay for. This seller does not have the best feedback rating either. I try and stick with the ones that have at leasy 99.8% positive feedback scores. -
Uconnect 8.4N HELP
jkeaton replied to dodge downunder's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Welcome to the forum. My quesrtion is, are you referring to the car alerting you to radar traps or traffic cameras? I assume you mean the NAV? Excuse my ignorance, I don't have the big screen but that would be cool if it IS supposed to do that. Some one will chime in soon I'm sure.
