  1. I let the dealer do the front brakes on our 09 at @12000 miles. Not long after the rears started causing a vibration and the fronts as well. I replaced everything myself (rotors/pads) using a quality aftermarket brand and had no more brake issues for the next 70,000 miles. If you keep replacing the factory junk with factory junk, you will continue to have brake problems. This is not a Chrysler specific issue. Many car manufacturers, in their haste to save weight and reduce costs are cutting corners. Thinner rotors (which warp early on) saves weight and costs. It took them awhile, but Chrysler finally started putting beefier brakes on the Journey. The brake hardware (rotors, calipers, pads)on my 2013 are gigantic compared to the ones on the 09. Don;t know anything about a class action lawsuit though. I imagine that would not likely go very far.
  2. I also agree about the interior lighting and the transmission. About the power/folding mirrors, I have them on mine. They are power mirrors that you can fold in. Pretty much standard equipment I thought. The power liftgate was on my wifes wish list when we went car shopping, unfortunately, to have that option meant increasing our price range into the realm of the bigger SUV's that offered that, which also put it out of our price range. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  3. I've bought every oine of myb HID kits off ebay from this seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/xeno-HID-KIT-H1-H3-H6m-H4-H7-H8-H11-H9-H10-H13-9004-9005-9006-9007-D2S-D2R-6000K-/220472047437?pt=US_Car_Lighting&hash=item335528774d&vxp=mtr#ht_4807wt_1328 Only had one time a ballast was bad ouot of the box, but the seller shipped me a new one right away. I had these in my first Journey for 3 years with no trouble at all.
  4. You will like the silver, it never shows dirt...lol. Our 09 was silverm and I only had to wash it like once every 3 months....the 2013 on the other hand.....shows dirt from sitting still.
  5. True, true. Details I left out that are like second nature to me, I guess. My bad, thanks for adding. When I have to replace mine (or if someone else does theirs first) we will do a write up with pictures. Maybe start a FAQ/DIY section for how-to's for things like this. Whitby? My company has a manufacturing site in Whitby. May be up there sometime next year.
  6. As stated above, if the pad manufacturer states to use anti squeal then use it. Some higher end pads come with it included. Some don't require it. The only thing I use when putting it all back together is spread anti-seize compound on any metal to metal contact areas. Never had an issue or squeals.
  7. We have tons of them here around Winston Salem, NC.
  8. Nothing wrong with aftermarket waterpumps. Who installed the timing belt? What is the code? What do you mean by "difficult to shift"?
  9. Glad you got it fixed. Perhaps no one on this forum has had to replace an O2 sensor, so the in depth knowledge is not available. Now that you have done it, please share the knowledge in case someone else runs into the same problem. Thanks.
  10. Wow.....that is really sick!
  11. Easy enough. Unbolt the calipers, remove the pads, seat the piston (remove the brake fluid reservoir and remove some brake fluid so it does not overflow when the fluid gets pushed back into it), as stated above, you need a special tool to turn the brake piston in while puching it. Install the new pads, reinstall the caliper. Message me if you need assistance.
  12. I though the first year was 09 for the Journey? Did they have them in Europe before then?
  13. Your Journey may be garbage. It was used. Buyer beware. My second Journey is not garbage and neither was my first one. Love my Journey.
  14. The menu setting for that are on the touch screen. If that was replaced then I dont think you can.
  15. Hopefully Dodge Cares can jump in and offer some assistance to you. You might try sending a pm.
  16. I understand, but your title and spamming a bunch of threads that this is the worst car you evern owned is not helping anyone. If you want help, ask for it. Sounds to me like your venting.
  17. Sorry for your troubles. I dont know why people start threads like these in a Dodge Journey forum. It's like going to your hometeams football game and screaming they stink at the top of your lungs. It would be better to start out with an introduction to your problems and what you have done to try and recify the issues. We could then start a productive conversation with you and try to help you out. Just joining the forum to start a thread titled" worst car ever" is not going to get you much help. On this forum, you have access to Dodge Care specialists, experienced auto technicians and do-it-ourselfers (like myself) who can assist you with dealer problems and other issues you may have, plus there may be someone else who experienced the exact same issue and knows what it takes to resolve/fix the issue(s). Hopefully someone may chime in with some helpful information. I feel your frustration but come to the forum with a positive attitude and you will get positive results. We are a forum of Dodge Journey enthusiasts and take it a bit personal when someone starts a thread titled "Dodge Journey Worst Car Ever". That is your personal opinion and are free to express it, but dont expect much advise. My opinion? We owned an 09 for 4 years and 80,000 miles when we traded it. We loved it so much we got another one. There are two sides to every coin. Dodge Journey, Best car ever!
  18. Anyone upgraded the interior bulbs to LED's? I did this on our 09 and just bought regular LED bulbs. In searshing for LED's for the 2013 model, I see options for "CAN BUS" LED's alongside the normal LED's. Do the newer models really need the CAN bus LED's for interior lights?
