As far as the brakes are concerned, the 09's had horrible brakes. We had rotors/pads on our 09 replaced twice before 20k. The last time they warped I purchased some quality aftermarket rotors and pads and installed them myself. Did not have a single brake problem for 60,000 more miles. If you keep replacing factory junk with factory junk, expect frequent brake jobs. We did not have an airbag light on when our window switches stopped working. The recall fixed our issues. I am not aware of any aftermarket harnesses and honestly never found out exactly what the problem with the harness was. $580 for a wiring harness seems incredibly steep to me. Maybe find out the part number and search for it on the internet? And to the OP, bashing an entire car line because of your experience with one model is not justified. Every manufacturer has their share of models with problems. I'm on another forum for Dodge Dakota's and we have a favorite saying that some of those trucks are Monday trucks and some are Friday trucks. Every now and then there is a true lemon that rolls off the assembly line. Sorry for your problems and wish you luck in getting your problems resolved. If you are seeking advise on any of your issues, just ask. We loved our 09 SE so much, we just bought another one.

Got my AVS bug shield and vent visors today. Got them off ebay for $55 for the bug shield and vent visors. The visors are the stick on kind, but for the price, I could not turn this set down. They were used on a showroom vehicle and are in new condition.

Help Understanding Build Codes Please
jkeaton replied to Isaiah6113's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
You can also use this link. I filled it out and in less than an hour I had my build sheet. http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/emailpage.html?appStr=wccs&titleStr=Contact+Dodge&familyStr=brand&franchise=D&actionURL=%2Fwccs%2Fbrand_forms%2Fus%2Fwebform.jsp&promotion=null&category=U In the area that says "Briefly describe" put "Vehicle Build Sheet". If you want to elaborate a little more as to why you want your build sheet, use the additional information area. My build sheet. Apparently my car is a Hero?? Extended warranty
jkeaton replied to jkeaton's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Last 8 digits: DT660651 Extended warranty is Carmax's "Maxcare Service Contract". $100 deductible, but if we use Carmax service center it's only $50 decuctible. Covers breakdown, rental reimbursement ($40/day, 7 days max) and towing reimbursement not to exceed $100. Does not cover maintenance items or non-mechanical parts (glass, light bulbs, lenses, trim, moldings, upholstery, etc.), collisions (obviously), negligence, misuse or recalls. -
Does the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty transfer? How would I go about doing this as the dealer we bought from (Carmax) said nothing about it, We also purchased an extended 6 year/100,000 mile warranty. I'm thinking that is not needed if the factory warranty is in effect.

Canadians must like DJ's, eh?

Apparently it is defined as a truck. If you go to wallyworld and use their little "parts finder" electronic catalog in the automotive section, the Journey shows up under the "Dodge Truck" heading. Makes no difference to me. We are on our second DJ. Love it.

Agreed with the other posts. Our 09 had horrible brakes. Rotors and pads replaced by 20k, both front and rear. I replaced them again after the warped the second time with good aftermarket parts and never had another problem. I agree the 09 was a guinee pig so to speak. The first model and right during Chryslers bancruptcy problems. The newer models are light years ahead of the original ones. I would not be worried at all. Heck the rotors and calipers and pads on our 2013 model look to be twice the size of the ones on the 09.

What splash guards did you go with? Thats on my list as well.

Looking at a bug deflector and window visors, stumbled across an auction on ebay where a guy was selling a combo of AVS bug shield and window visors that were used on a showroom vehicle. They sold the vehicle and took these off. Put all new 3M tape and all mounting hardware for the big deflector is included. I won the auction for $55.00. Looks like my first appearance mod is going to work out fine. In store are LED conversion for interior lights, footwell "accent" lighting, nightshaded tails. Also picking up some weathertech floor mats and a rear cargo area mat, door sill guards.....this things going to eat me alive....lol

09 Power Window Issues
jkeaton replied to passman's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
There is a recall for bad harness in the door which causes many power window problems. We had similar issues with our 09, windows wont got down, or when down would not go back up, door locks sometimes work, sometimes not. It was all repaired at no charge by the dealer. Remind them there is a recall on this issue with the 09 models. -
Brakes are a given these days with manufacturers trying to reduce weight wherever they can. Our 09 had warped front rotors by 15k. The fronts were replaced under warranty and by 20k were warped again and the back brakes started giving issues as well. Knowing that returning to the dealer would result in more premature failure as they just replace factory junk with more factory junk, I decided to replace everything myself with quality aftermarket rotors and ceramic pads. When we traded it in last weekend it had 80,000 miles and never had any more brake trouble after I replaced the factory junk. During the 5 years we owned it, besides the brakes, the only other issues were the door switch recall,(no charge) and the ac compressor went out and an alternator failed. All covered by an extended warranty we purchased, which paid for itself. I consider these issues normal and not out of the ordinary maintenance/repair items on a vehicle approaching 100,000 miles. We were very happy with the 09, aside from the anemic engine. It never left us stranded. That played a big part in our decision to get another one. First time we have ever traded for the same model. All vehicle manufacturers have some flaw in one form or another. Bashing an entire product line because of one bad model experience is not fair.

Hello all, justr found this place today. Just traded our 09 SE for a 2013 SXT. What a difference. Looking forward to learning a lot about this new vehicle. Onvce I figure out how to attach pics, I'll post them. Normally I copy the "img" tag from my photobucket, but that does not seem to work.
