I'm sure this is the wrong place but hopefully I can get some input. I have a 09 Journey with 85k miles on it. It was made 3 months after the recall on the door wiring harness, so despite being an 09 it does not qualify. I have had the door worked on 6 times. Each time it's the exact same problem. The drivers door can open the back windows but nothing else works. The front passengers door control works perfect including the ability to lock and unlock the drivers door. Repairs, first time the dealer had me hold the drivers window control up for 5 sec. It worked for months. 2nd time they "reprogramed the unit." 3rd time a controller box was replaced. 4th time it fixed it's self magically after a few days. Last time an independent mechanic disconnected the battery for 5 min and again fixed.
This time same exact symptoms, but now I'm told it's a bad harness and because of 85k miles not covered under warranty. Despite prior attempts. 580 dollars for the harness and ? 1.5 hrs work to change. I have a second dealership say it can not be the harness because the side airbag lights do not come on.
1) since the airbag light never comes on can it still be the harness.
2) after market harness, I've heard they can be better.
3) Both the mechanic at the dealership (great guy) and the Chrysler warranty "lady" implied that this is a "known problem". That they have had a lot of complaints and are dealing with them on an individual basis rather than extend the recall...
Suggestions?
Any help appreciated Brian
P.S. Also having problems with brakes not lasting, I have resigned myself to just freg. brake jobs.
I'm not bashing Dodge just disappointed. My first car was a 1954 Dodge Coronet purchased new by my father. Pink none the less.
