  1. As I look at your message I was thinking... why not upgrade the screen. So made me think. I could go with aftermarket android stereo for all the apps it offers but leave the stereo components on the stereo below. Hmmm.... Then I can use the output from that into stereo.... man your making me want to step up my game lol
  2. Ya never bothered to upgrade since i have aftermarket stereo. Don't know there would be much benefit if I did upgrade the screen.
  3. I always try to replace thermostat anything I am messing with the coolant system, it's a inexpensive preventative maintenance at that point even if it's a year old. Rather spend the extra $20 and extra few minutes all at once then possibly regret it later.
  4. The ONLY thing I will admit is snow does give you that benefit.... but if you can see it, You can feel it's cold lol
  5. The amount of customization needed to make it work it would be cheaper and easier to swap with a aftermarket stereo
  6. Well since I am stuck in a holding pattern for now figured i would work on another project, since I don't really use the pocket below the display figured I could put the air gauge there and a voltage meter. So fiberglassing it. Here is the progress on that
  7. Who would have ever thought what many would consider a common replacement part on what is a pretty common vehicle would be so hard to find. Or at least take so long to get. Good photos! From pictures looks pretty straightforward. I'm sure you said it before but do you have the V6 or 4 cylinder engine?
  8. ? ? ? as I am writing this I am waiting for my son to get home to look at the damage on his car. Apparently hit and run and he didn't get the other person's plates. It baffles me how the youth of today always has a phone to record random dumb things but never things they need. But he's not hurt that is all that matters to me. From photo he sent it is cosmetic. So yes Dad to the rescue ? ? ?
  9. I'll keep my fingers and eyes crossed for you that the car gods bless you with nothing too crazy to fix. As far as your health that is the most important thing to fix. Besides who else am I gonna chat with on this forum ? ? ?
  10. It helped i had multiple cars to spread the mileage out, at one point I had 7 at once lol. What can I say I like cars ? ? ? Gas prices in the Northwest didn't motivate me to go on roadtrips either. Now my wife and I work remotely from home so we're driving even less. Prices are better here in TX compared to WA but lack of commuting helps allot.
  11. Man... kind of feel like I am neglecting my car by not driving it more. It's a 2013 bought in 2014 and it had about 32,000 miles then. In 9 years no major issues.
  12. Reading that i was like... have you been watching me do my plugs?!?! ? ? ?
  13. Well to be fair it was my first post in a long time so easy to forget about me lol. I learned a long time ago that if you already have something apartment you might as well replace other things while accessible as preventative maintenance. No point in taking something apart twice if you don't have to. Not to mention with the way things have been lately in the world the odds are a year or 2 from now it would cost you even more. I laughed a little when you mentioned the RF TPMS going out and how it's a common issue, a couple months ago I had to replace my RF TPMS on my 2013 SXT DJ since it stopped working unexpectedly. Took car in and had them rotate tires and replace it at the same time. Apparently at some point I hit something and bent a wheel a little. Ended up killing 3 birds with that stone lol but the other 3 TPMS are still going fine
  14. I want to say all files need to be a specific file path not just on the stick. But I could be thinking of something else
  15. Well got a smidgen more progress. Kind of stuck until I get my caddy back and can take the manifold out of it. But none the less progress is progress
  16. Lol just making sure. When I reread my message. I was thinking, that sounds a smidgen rude lol.
  17. To clarify I was referring to the car I owned at the time.
  18. Thank you for the kind words. it's probably been 30+ years since I have seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I use to sing a modified version in my youth. Chitty Chitty car car Chitty Chitty car car I hate you. That car was a pile of crap lol But so far I am figuring it out as I go. Trying to decide how to cover the sides that will still allow the floor to be removable in case I need to lower the spare and access to rear struts in case I need to replace them down the road. Leaning towards just wrapping sides with a black upholstery to hide the sound deadening and wires or rear hvac. Hmmm.... well I'll burn that bridge later
  19. Heck it almost looks like I know what I am doing or planned lol.
  20. Got the tank mounted, think I may add a spacer so can mount fittings in rear of tank to give it a cleaner look. But slowly but surely it's coming together. Trying to hide the small dumb things under the floor like the relay and remote drain. Floor will be removable so it will be something that can be serviced and also access to spare. Just can't bring myself to delete the spare since i know if I do the first time I go more then 30 minutes away from home i will get a flat. Plan on mounting the air manifold above tank and maybe get fancy and do some aluminum tubing. Hmmm... decisions decisions
  21. There are plug and play systems that are available online. For the average user the sound quality is fine but if your an audiophile like me then it won't be to your liking. Here is a example of one I am talking about. At the end of the day you need to decide what it is you really want from your stereo and what your willing to spend. Dodge Journey Radio Upgrade 2011-2020 Android Stereo Navigation Replacement 10.4inch Touch Screen 4GB RAM 64GB ROM Wireless Carplay 4G LTE WiFi Free Camera https://a.co/d/7H3JhDs There are other ones out there, some more and or less expensive. Again all depends what you want and willing to spend.
  22. Well got a little further. Ran air lines for front through the openings of the side skirt and used the grommet in front of the rear axle for the front bags. And used the grommet that is behind the rear axle for rear bag. Then mocked up the frame and used some cardboard to make a stencil for a new rear floor board. The upholstery should arrive tomorrow so during the week hope to have board cut and wrapped. New tank should also arrive tomorrow so can then moc that up so once the cadillac gets home so i can pull the manifold, slap it in the Dodge and then move onto the cadillac. Guy doing the upholstery was hit by a semi and so he is running behind. But again that helps me leaving me room in the garage. The Caddy is my other toy. I took this picture a couple months ago when I picked it up from paint.
  23. Seen some engineering fails that make you just laugh. Can't recall what car it is but there is several videos out there showing this. There is a bolt that is very long for no reason, my guess it was one of those we already have them so might as well use it parts, but it's so long if you try to remove it it hits the frame, the only way to remove it is lower the engine or cut it and replace with slightly short bolt. Which is the easiest way. And of course it's one of those parts that will need to be replaced at some point like a water pump or alternator.
