I think dhh3's reply speaks pretty well to why you don't see it... Not necessary and the camera can be added cheaper. People just aren't spending as much to "mod" these vehicles... The rest of the benefits can also be added through other solutions cheaply, so unless your looking to add 4 cameras or something unique, most people find easier/cheaper ways to achieve the same thing. I'd love to see someone do it though. Have at it!

What you speak of is actually called a short ram intake (SRI) and is what most people are referring to when the say CAI... Two very different beasts.
-
leaving everything stock and changing the filter won't do anything... The stock air path is designed to minimize noise. Outside of changing that path or adding a short ram intake, there isn't much that I'm aware of that will change the sound.

There is likely a silencer in the air path that could be removed to give it more sound... take it apart and look around. removing any baffles you find will likely achieve your goal.

I don't think any of the DJ's have the apps button, but some have the ability to text via voice... EDIT: dependent on phone compatibility... -
Are you referring to the lock pick not being used frequently? If so, I think it is just that the typical owner of the DJ is not one who is customizing their vehicle much. There is one available and I haven't heard anything bad about the company for quite some time. I have personally considered one, but would rather spend money on other items at this time. It is certainly much cheaper than adding the oem NAV, and probably more reliable... If you pull the trigger on one (that would be my recommendation given your situation), please report back about the install, function and usability of the device. I'm sure more people would consider one after seeing how easy they are to use and what you can do with them.

Depending of course on why he wants to do the upgrade... The K&N filter isn't going to give him that intake rumble or the look of the short ram intake. Not sure it actually gives much of anything really, other than a lifetime air filter ($ savings).

Which infotainment system do you have? The top end one (forget the name) has the ability with some phones. You would need to check the uConnect website to see if yours is listed as compatible (assuming that you have the correct stereo). There may be a software upgrade for the newer phones that was not present from the factory as well... -

Never even tried mine... Makes me wonder. -
OEM tires generally give up a little strength/longevity in order to provide a softer and quieter ride... 35,000 isn't anything special, but it certainly isn't bad either. I have had luck with other Kuhmo tires (non-OEM) on previous vehicles so I wouldn't judge an entire brand on the OEM tires on your DJ. Pirelli makes a good tire too though. Check in when you get some more miles on them; everyone appreciates reviews on things like tires!

The only way to make it better would be to reduce restriction in the path to the filter and from the filter to the engine. That being said, likely not worth it. For some the custom look and sound is all the motivation that is needed to make this particular modification. While I wouldn't do it, I can respect their reasoning behind it.

For those who don't know, you can click on your username in the top right corner of the screen and select "My Settings". From here click on "Ignore Preferences"... This tab allows you to enter the username of people whose very existence bothers you and from who you would rather never see another post or private message. It makes things quite peaceful when you don't have to deal with idiots...

Class action lawsuit? Ha! Wow... are you sure you aren't from the U.S??? -
Mechanical things have failures, especially when mass produced. My point was that the company is doing the right thing and while having the issue isn't ideal, it certainly isn't anything to complain about. If they weren't standing behind their product, THAT would suck... and would be something worth complaining about. If a free repair is the worst thing that happens to your vehicle I think you have yourself a winner.

My god... go away. You spout off about how big of a piece of shit your DJ (because you bought the cheapest model available with the smallest engine available) and then when NO ONE agrees with your synapses you go off on your high horse talking shit about said members? You are a joke at best. Trade in your DJ and move on already... we are all done listening. Also, for the original poster, my DJ gets 24 mpg mixed driving (mostly city), rides nice, is comfortable and not cheap inside (many luxury car owners were surprised by the fit and finish of the interior), has plenty of room for grown adults in the back seat (middle row) and handles heavy loads quite well. As with any FWD vehicle (mine is actually AWD) there is a little torque steer if you step on it from a stop, but nothing that is unacceptable and as far as crash rating go the DJ got all 5 stars on five of the 12 tests performed by the NHTSA (4 stars on the rest) and a "Good" rating on all of the IIHS crash tests. In my opinion (and any other rationale human being's opinion), this car is an overperformer for the price point and while not necessarily a luxury vehicle, it can compete and beat every competitors offering. Sorry for my tirade.

Camshaft retainer... Can't find it in the parts list. They are likely correct that it is part of the head.

She has an SE, there isn't much of anything extra... In fact, they are pretty stripped down. My 2014 SXT had a net and floor mats. I didn't have a trailer wiring harness though and by the time I realized it way too much time had passed to complain about it anymore...

And we do it well!!

Playlists, or folders?

Let us know how the windows media playlist works out... -
I've always been told negative as well... disconnected the positive once as a youngin and the sparks were flying... Seems like it may be easier to accidentally mess something up that way.
