  1. It's not the shape that is the issue, but the mounting. Most tweeters are designed to mount differently than a factory tweeter. A lot of people end up gluing them in, at least your tech made an adapter...
  2. Crutchfield doesn't account for the tweeter separates when telling you if it fits the vehicle, just the mid driver. It is likely the mounting depth (magnet size) of the 6x9 that prevents it from fitting. You could probably build a ring made of MDF or something that brings it away from the door and reduces the mounting depth enough for it to fit. Personally, I would go with a round speaker to get better sound, especially if you are going with components. A 6.5" speaker should get you better mids than the 6x9 will...
  3. Safety feature... Be pretty dangerous if the car just stopped running while you were out on the road. What vehicles do this? Sounds like that would break some sort of safety regulation.
  4. He has them posted elsewhere... take a look.
  5. -20 C is not that cold... I doubt it will be an issue. The issues in Canada are happening at MUCH colder temps.
  6. The amp doesn't provide more volume, it provides enough power to move the speakers without causing distortion or clipping... If you buy speakers that are matched well with the stereo (not sure what the factory wattage is), there is no need for an amp. If you upgrade to speakers without paper cones that are more rigid they will require more power to move them.
  7. Would appear to be under the plastic surrounds on the posts.
  8. Looks like just one of them has a DVD drawer In the top...
  9. They need to add a code to make the wiring at the back live. If you want to avoid the dealer I would just got to etrailer.com and get their package.
  10. Be aware that even if you order the harness you will have to have the dealer enable it...
  11. What is it that you want figured out? If they aren't calibrating correctly, the dealer can do it as stated in post #3 by someone who works at a dealer... this info is also in your owner's manual.
  12. etrailer has everything you need if you're not using the dealer... including a T-connector that works fine. You only NEED to go to the dealer if you are interested in using the integrated towing features like the sway control. EDIT: I haven't decided which way to go on mine, but I am leaning toward the integrated and, more importantly, warrantied install...
  13. Either option is fine... I would go with 6.5" or 6.75" (if they fit) in the doors. If doing that, Crutchfield will be cheaper because you'll get the mounting brackets for free. Up front it would definitely be worth installing components. You can install the tweeter from the component in the sail panel in the door and get some pretty remarkable sound. I was planning on doing wheels this year, but ended up buying a skate sharpener for my son and I since we spend so much getting our hockey skates sharpened. Given that the sharpener ate up a little more than a grand, I will probably focus on the stereo this spring/summer instead. I plan on a similar set up to what I mentioned above, but I will amplify the components to get the most out of them. Let us know what you decide.
  14. places like wholesalemopar.com usually have pretty good prices on things like this. I would check a wholesaler first.
  15. wish i could see the pics from work... maybe I'll check on my phone when I go take a dump...
  16. This will probably be the looking one if you are after aesthetics...
  17. $30k+???? I thought you had a Journey? Doesn't change the facts though... Have fun with whatever you buy next. Maybe your lawyer can get you a deal on that one too!
  18. There is a time limit for oil changes too... Although it is 12 months.
  19. Yes, with a bigger rotor you will need a bigger caliper and a bigger caliper mount...
  20. Yeah, you can't really tell in the pic... looks matte. Did you make sure to get the UV rated stuff?
  21. The first one is a little early. I bet the second one is closer to 14,000 miles. I change mine when the light comes on.
  22. Like the brake calipers... been meaning to do that to mine. If you throw some of the UV rated glossifier on those wheels it will give it a very nice sheen. Not quite clear coat, but a nice shine that will mix in a bit better with the paint.
  23. Yes, but no changes from the previous models rated at 3500lbs makes you wonder...
  24. No one is going to ask? Details on the screen name please?
