  1. Wow... from what I hear on the forum, that is exceptional for that model year...
  2. I don't notice a bounce on my SXT plus... rides very smooth and the roads here aren't all that great with the extreme temperature swings we see. You can feel the bumps a little more in the cold weather, but I wouldn't call it bouncy. I have always drove 1/2 ton pick ups though, so it may be my frame of reference...
  3. Had to Google it... smdh = shaking my damn head???
  4. Ours are PACKED all year long... But, us old guys get ice earlier in the day during the summer when the kids aren't eating all of it up... I have a game tonight at 10pm!
  5. 3 indoor ice rinks??? I have 3 within 5 miles of my house, and I am outside of the city!! Guess I'm not moving to Indiana ever...
  6. Thanks for stopping by to rant. It adds a lot to the forum and will be very useful for others looking for something to bitch about... Have fun with whatever you buy, as I'm sure as long as it isn't a Dodge it will definitely be trouble free.
  7. There is a lip around the headlight housing. If you remove the headlight you should be able to mount a strip behind the lip. Also, since the lens is not clear on the lip it should diffuse the light and make it look like a continuous light rather than a bunch of single LEDs...
  8. Not sure how the Canadian warranty works, is the vehicle still under warranty? I would take it in and have it diagnosed. If it is as obvious as you state they should be able to diagnose it and tell you if it is covered. If it isn't then you can always take it to another shop to have the work done at a lower rate.
  9. I had an aftermarket starter installed by the dealer as part of the purchase. It is a Compustar and has a range of 3000' (I think) and provides feedback. The fob is maybe 1" square and adds very little bulk to the key fob. It works great and I would definitely recommend it. I can't speak to all dealers, but mine was purchased through the dealer and installed at the dealer (by someone external to the dealership). I was told that since it was purchased through the dealer as part of the purchase that it would be covered by the warranty.
  10. probably won't save you much since he is in Brazil... Ha!
  11. Indoor ice... This is the State of Hockey, we have a ton of ice arenas and the prices are CHEAP compared to the rest of the country and Canada (especially in the summer). Due to our community hockey model a lot of the costs are subsidized through volunteer work and other methods, allowing us to have a lot more ice available to the general public than anywhere else and at a cost that is MUCH less...
  12. Basically it is an electronic device that charges the metal to reduce the risk of rust... They have been using these for a long time in other industries; I've never actually seen a car with one though. Something like this... http://www.car-rust.com/
  13. Doesn't look like she has been back since her initial post... Probably got better help on a Caravan forum anyways.
  14. Wow... that sounds like a nightmare!!
  15. Ha! Come in the summer, the weather is nicer and there is tons of open ice to be had!
  16. Ha! Not sure what I am reacting to at all, let alone over reacting too, but okay... I may not quote this exactly right, but "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result." You're right, the brakes on the early 2012 builds and earlier are not up to par for such a heavy vehicle. Rather than having the dealer replace the parts constantly with the same thing, UPGRADE them. Seems pretty obvious to me and there are posts all over the forum about people who have successfully done so and are now experiencing no issues. Just the headache of having to deal with the issue more than once should be enough to pull the trigger on that one. Should cost no more than a couple hundred bucks... Well worth the time of saving the trip to the dealer. No amount of complaining is going to get them to service your vehicle with parts other than what it came with, they will not do the upgrade for you...that's how dealers work. Enjoy whatever vehicle you end up in. I hope it is issue free...
  17. For what it is worth, the DJ doesn't seem to have issues with HIDs... Many people have installed them without issue. I am using the TRS Mopar specific harness on my retro with no problems, but others report that they have installed nothing additional and that they work without incident.
  18. Assuming that you are referring to the sensor for the seat belt light warning... Did they tell you that installing it would ruin the sensor, or what was the issue? Thanks for the review! Also, I assume you have already done it somewhere, but can you put up the part number, or a link to what you installed? Would be nice to capture it in this thread with your review.
  19. Agree with posts about upgrading... If you keep having issues with the same parts, does it really make sense to keep installing them? Try something new and maybe you will get better results. Rockauto is a great resource for parts, as stated, and the upgrade to the newer brakes has been done by a few people on the forum with great success and at a reasonable price. I understand that the earlier brakes weren't quite enough to handle the weight of this vehicle, but doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results doesn't make a lot of sense...
  20. So would you say it was a good purchase? You are happy with them?
  21. I can't (and didn't) argue with that point... However, writing off an entire brand because of seemingly trivial issues is ridiculous... I could understand if your transmission needed to be replaced several times or something like that, but even then it is extreme to write off the entire brand. Makes no difference to me if you choose to leave the brand and bad mouth them to everyone you know. My point (though riddled with sarcasm to emulate the ridiculous reaction you had) is that all brands have issues, especially small ones like you describe in your post, and IF you find a car that is trouble free, you simply got lucky. Mechanical things break, that is the long and short of it. It sucks you had issues and it sounds like your dealer isn't doing a good job either helping you or explaining what they did to verify your vehicle was functioning as expected. But, that doesn't make your statement any less ridiculous.
  22. You'll likely need to access it from the engine bay side of the fire wall... poke it with a wire or a pipe cleaner. That should free it up.
  23. Ha! Dramatic much?? You should jump on the other person's lawsuit... Maybe together you guys can get enough of a settlement to get an awesome imported car like a Toyota or something. How cool would that be? Think about all the years of trouble free ownership and that huge trade in value... Man, what a great deal that would be.
  24. Man, I don't think I could fit under there to drain the oil if it wasn't in the air... Always use ramps, even when I owned 1/2 ton pickups... If it makes you feel better, that is not what makes you the nerd of the forum... ha! Hell, procedures like this seem to change every couple of years... let alone since the 60's! Ha! Checking it cold isn't going to be a dramatic difference, but if you're aiming for the middle of the "Safe" zone when cold, then you are likely close to being over when warm. Long gone are the days when an engine burns a quart of oil and it is considered normal...tolerances on new engines are just too damn tight.
  25. The buzz likely happens all the time... You may just be hearing it because sounds seem to be amplified by the cold. I think it is the solenoid in the transmission... All my Dodges do this in all weather conditions. Very normal and nothing to be concerned about.
