  1. This study has many flaws (as one would expect with something like vehicle crashes) and the p-values are only marginally statistically significant in most cases. I wouldn't rest my hat on this analysis as the end all proving the effectiveness of DRLs. I think you would have to design a study in order to control other variables enough to make a statistically convincing conclusion about DRL effectiveness in reducing crashes, and that in itself would create bias that would ultimately skew the results enough to make that study questionable as well... There are simply too many variables to make any kind of conclusion with this data. Though I will admit that the author did a great job with what they had. Stupid may have been a poor selection, but they are dull yellow lights on the front of a very aesthetically pleasing vehicle. It makes the vehicle look a LOT less appealing in my opinion.
  2. Journeyman425 and DodgeCares have both verified that starting in 2014 if they are not enabled at the factory, they can not be enabled period.
  3. Very long cold and dark, ha! Though at night I use my headlights since that is what is required (not to mention safest).
  4. I agree with you totally. That being said, sometimes people (especially large corporations) need reminders. Your last post did not indicate that you followed through after they made their promise (nor did any others I read, perhaps I missed it). My point is that rather than give up you should hold them to their word... What is "POC"? EDIT: Point of Contact?
  5. I would assume you need to buy that panel... You may get a better response starting a new thread.
  6. removal isn't difficult, but I would look at other options like a tablet. They make very stylish accessories to mount them nowadays... You could also look at an overhead unit, but that comes with it's own unique difficulties...
  7. Congrats... I bought a Ram once that was owned by a heavy smoker... It took a few tries, but they eventually got it out.
  8. Hmmm... I checked every feature before I bought mine. I also checked the window sticker and options list. There were no surprises because I checked... Either way you look at it, it is an assumption and is the fault of the consumer. DRL's are very clearly indicated on the build sheet and window sticker, so if one took the 30 seconds to read either of those they would notice that they were not equipped. Now if a dealer told you it was and it turned out not to be, that would be an issue (though still not an issue with the manufacturer). I still don't understand why everyone wants those stupid DRLs anyways... I would rather not have them. Of course I find it quite easy to turn the headlight knob to the right in instances of low visibility...
  9. What is evident from the posts you have read is that people buy without understanding what they are purchasing... What "should" be installed is opinion at best unless you are talking about government mandated safety or environmental features. The problem is people think they need all these stupid little features and think that they should be installed, but never check before signing on the line. Then all of a sudden it is the manufacturers fault because the consumer is too lazy to make sure they know what they are buying. And, I do currently own a Honda, it was just not manufactured in the last 10 years... Regardless of that, I know several people that have them (I'm sure we all do) and can easily use those vehicles as a basis for comparison. You simply pay more for the same thing with brands like Honda and Toyota due to a perceived reliability. Which is fine, these manufacturers have obviously earned this perceived reliability. Either way you look at it, the problem isn't Dodge (or any other manufacturer), it is consumers making assumptions based on God knows what, and then getting pissed when their assumptions turn out to be inaccurate.
  10. No problem on my 2014 either... Maybe on a very steep hill, but there aren't a lot of those around me...
  11. Hmmm... Generally speaking, if something is important to me I will follow through on my end to make sure it gets done, not just sit back and wait, and then give up when I don't hear anything... If they said they would help you out then hold them to their word. It's not difficult for something like this to get lost when a company has to deal with thousands of people daily.
  12. Because you only had to do one set? Seems like a pretty obvious answer... Not everyone is comfortable doing this kind of work and prefer to have someone else do it for them.
  13. Not following the tilt steering comment? What is it that you were saying?
  14. Mileage will go up as the vehicle breaks in... I have a little over 11k miles on mine and routinely get 24 mpg with at LEAST 50% city driving. As far as everything else, seems to me like that stuff should have been pretty apparent before the purchase. Why buy the vehicle if it didn't have what you want? It certainly isn't Dodge's fault that you bought a vehicle knowing it wasn't equipped as you would like. I've owned a few Hondas and personally find them over-priced and cheap feeling, but none of them were in the past 10 years. I'm personally very satisfied with the "bang for the buck" that the Journey offers. You can't touch this thing with anything offered by any other manufacturer when you factor in cost to own, build quality, and features... It is a no brainer.
  15. True... I don't know what kind of roof carrier was used, but I would assume the hard plastic ones with the smooth transition in front would be your best bet. I think you can only put 100lbs on the roof rack though, so the rear holder may be the best bet for large loads regardless.
  16. What improvements is it that you believe you are seeing? I guess that I am going to trust that the info in the manual was the result of engineering studies and that Dodge would not knowingly and purposefully break the law by making the statement it does if it were not true... That, and I'll save a buck wherever I can!
  17. Those would still cause air turbulence, but it would be greatly reduced...
  18. I think that the only major difference from some model years is the need to have an unlock code or something like that... I know I've seen this very recently, someone with a better answer should chime in.
  19. Before giving my avenger to my wife I used to manually track it... Stopped when I bought this. You've peaked my interest, I am going to check the next few fill ups to see where we are at.
  20. Owner's manual says a minimum of 3 years is the life expectancy of the battery... Hoping since I hardly use mine that it goes a bit longer than that... Good point though for sure.
  21. The title of the post is "2012 Dodge Journey...Key Fob". Seems to indicate that this is a 2012, no? I have had my DJ since last March and I think I may have used the fob a total of like 4 times... In 2 years I figure that means I will have pushed the button a whopping 24 times. I hope the battery isn't dead from that much use.
  22. I usually throw my keys and cell phone in a mesh side pocket on my laptop back pack when heading to work. On occasion I have noticed if my phone completely covers the fob that it will interfere with it being seen by the vehicle... sounds like this post is about the car locking itself without any interaction with the fob or any buttons though. Not sure that is the answer for this one.
  23. I'm trying to figure out how in the hell the battery needs to be replaced already... Long nights spent locking and unlocking the vehicle???
