So, if I recall correctly, some of the older uConnect touchscreen systems gave you the ability to customize the screen to some extent. Does anyone know if we are able to do that on the 8.4 on the DJ? Things like wallpaper would be nice to add to the display to give it a personal touch and make it a little less boring... It may have been a function of the lockpick units, but I don't remember... Anyone know?

They might be a Canada only thing... You see that a lot on here with all of Canadian members.

By now any ice is gone, so I really doubt it. I suppose something in the suspension could have come loose from water freezing and expanding, but nothing comes to mind. I would say that 9 times out of 10 (probably more than that really) any shaking that is experienced all of the time is probably due to wheel balance. You could try and save some money by getting your current wheels/tires balanced, but that may be difficult or even impossible due to wear.
-
Agreed. While rotating them might move the unbalanced tire and relieve the shaking, it is entirely possible that more than one of them are unbalanced. It sounds like you need new tires anyways, so what do you have to lose by changing them out and seeing if that helps? Worst case you end up with new tires that you need anyway and you can move on to the next suspect... Let us know what you find out.

Wait, you take breaks for beer?? Why not just keep one right by you while you work?!

How to remove the brushed aluminum trim for wrapping
Lobitz68 replied to Fireball111's topic in Interior
I would wait for confirmation, because I'm not positive, but I believe they just snap in. Interior trim tools would be worth the investment in my opinion.... -
Hmmm... The fit and finish of my 2014 is superb. In fact, most of the lines (inside and out) are tighter than very high end vehicles...

As it should be. They have yet to steer me wrong, so I continue to be a MOPAR man.

Ha! WTF?!!! I would have punched that dude square in the throat! That's insane... Even if they void your warranty due to an aftermarket part in the states, they have to prove that your aftermarket part caused the issue and they can only void the warranty on the specific part that failed due to the accessory. Like I always say... There's nothing common about common sense.

Ha! I was going to give you a hard time, but now I can't... Definitely take it in to the dealer and have it looked at. Your only problem may be that it doesn't sound like it happens every time... The dealer may not be able to reproduce the clunk and will say there is nothing they can do.

This is my 4th Chrysler product. I had a 2002 Dodge Dakota and a 2005 Dodge Ram. I currently own a 2012 Dodge Avenger and my 2014 Dodge Journey. The only one of those vehicles that has had ANY issues (knocking on wood with ya!) is the Ram, and that was an issue with the water pump. I went through a water pump every year on that damn thing... Of all of the vehicles that I have owned, I have liked the Chrysler products the most.

Key not detected
Lobitz68 replied to walker's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
Dodge vehicles act VERY strange when the car battery is on it's way out. I would venture to guess that some, if not all, of these key not detected errors are related to a car battery (not the fob battery) with a dead cell or two. The battery is good enough to start the car, but on the way out... -
How to disconnect negative battery cable
Lobitz68 replied to Totemus's topic in Accessories, Modifications
All of the newer Dodge's are this way. Negative on the strut tower is the disconnect. -
71,000 kilometers... that's roughly 44,000 miles.

I would look for a place that is generally free from splashing and excessive dust. I haven't began that mod on the DJ, but I like to put them behind the bumper or high in the engine bay usually...

Installing HID lights on your Journey (step by step)
Lobitz68 replied to email4walker's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Anywhere with bare metal. I usually sand off paint in a small area and use self tapping screws. That way I can install them wherever it makes sense to do so... If you do that, make sure to rub dielectric grease on it after they are tightened to avoid rusting and connection issues... -
Sounds good. Is that the 3.5?
-
Looking good!

Yes, it is aftermarket (CompuStar), but was purchased from and installed by Dodge at the time of purchase. Turns out the thing was done the day I dropped it off. "My" service adviser was off that day and the guy filling in was apparently new. By the time they got back to me the next day I wouldn't have arrived until after close, so I grabbed it Saturday AM.

We ended up getting 13" of snow that night... crazy. Most was melted the next day and I have sunburn from being outside in the 78 degree heat yesterday... Go figure.
