  1. It's certainly possible, but just because it's a factory amp does not make it the correct amp to power the speakers you purchased. Also, it would be far cheaper and much better quality to go with the correct aftermarket amp rather than try and figure out how to make the sub par factory one work...
  2. That's what all my research is telling me too... Waiting for a call from the service adviser. Ought to be an interesting conversation... I'm sick of driving this POS Cruze around...
  3. I guess that's just it, I'm not sure if what I'm getting is the factory remote start... there were 3 different options when I talked to the accessories guy. The basic one, one that was a 2-way with extended range (3000') and one that was a 2-way, used an app on your phone and could be used from the other side of the world if I wanted... I chose the middle option. The dealer is installing it and it is covered under the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty, so I'm not worried, just curious if anyone knows if it is a MOPAR remote starter or something else... On a side note, if anyone has had the dealer install a remote starter on their vehicle, how long did it take? I'm closing in on the end of day 2 here and wondering what the hell is taking so long...
  4. It may very well be that the picture they showed in the digital catalog was not the actual remote start that was being installed but just a representative picture... Is the factory remote start a 2-way (meaning it provides feedback to you that the vehicle has actually started)?
  5. When I bought my DJ I sat down with the accessories guy and went through everything I could add on. I ended up getting the molded cargo tray and a 3000' 2-way remote start, both of which are just getting installed now (6+ weeks later). Does anyone know if this is a standard remote start used at all dealers or if each dealership has their own catalog of accessories? I'm assuming it has its own key fob as it is a 2-way and I know that the range is significantly more than the factory integrated MOPAR remote start... Does anyone else have this installed on theirs? I'm assuming I'll get the DJ back today, so I can provide more info about the remote at that time...just curious what others have and if anyone knows how aftermarket accessories work at dealers. I was unable to find any info online about any remote start other than the factory integrated MOPAR one. Thanks!

    Rental Car

Yeah, it's crazy how much more they are for the same or less vehicle as their competitors... That being said, a lot of people are loyal to the brand and will continue to buy them regardless.
  7. Sounds like that's all it was... When I used to tow a 30' camper I had weight distributing bars on my hitch that would transfer some of the tongue weight over the front axles. It was a night and day difference over just having it hitched to the truck without them.
  8. For the mileage you also have to consider the drag that is created by the trailer. I'm assuming it was a closed trailer so there is a lot of surface area that is dragging through the air. Your issue with bouncing was probably due to too much tongue weight. Roughly 10% of the weight you tow should push down on the tongue. Too much tongue weight and you bounce, too little and the trailer sways... Either one of those is bad.
  9. I hear you... Did you ever get your housing back? They were getting blacked out weren't they?

It's a volume dealer... Technically they all have their own buildings and sales force, but it is on the same lot and they share a service center... There are a lot of dealers in MN like that. One family will own several different brands and put them in the same "auto mall" or lot... Really, all dealerships are private businesses, so it doesn't seem too odd to me. I would have much rather gotten one of the Kia's rather than this Cruze... They are actually VERY nice. I'd never really seen one up close until I bought my DJ and was killing time between paperwork at the dealer...

    Rental Car

So I took my DJ in to have the aftermarket remote starter and the molded cargo tray installed today by the dealer. After the nearly 2 hour drive to the dealer (due to a snow storm leaving 13" of snow all over the freeway) I finally get there and they get me into my rental for the day. The dealer is a Dodge, Kia, Chevrolet dealer, so they give me a 2014 Cruze. WOW... What a POS!!! It amazes me that they are even able to sell these things... I could literally probably run faster than this car until it gets into 3rd gear and it feels like a pile. My wife drives a 2012 Avenger SE, similar in that it is Dodge's bottom of the line car, and it puts this Cruze to so much shame that it is shocking... Man I missed my DJ before I even left the parking lot...
  12. The DJ has a decent cutoff and I'm not going to bash you for how you did your lights. But, if you compare your output to the output on a set of HID projectors, the difference is night and day. That's all I was saying...that the best output will come from that setup.
  13. Here you go... Careful for counterfits! http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/5258-there-somebody-using-xtreme-white-headlight-for-thier-dj/
  14. My vote is HIRs like I said in the other post. Don't buy China crap off ebay for headlight replacement...
  15. Your best option is a proper HID projector retrofit. It sounds like that is a lot more than you are interested in, so I would go HIR. I posted some interesting statistical info on halogen bulbs vs HIR bulbs (general information) in another post in this section of the forum. Easily the best option for not much more than the Silverstars that everyone loves. The HIRs will blow away the Silverstars (which isn't tough, but they do it well).
  16. HID bulbs require a 24,000 volt initial charge (though brief) in order to fire and require 85 volts (for a 35w bulb) in order to stay lit. The ballast is what provides that charge and supply, but the brief initial "explosive" charge actually draws juice quickly at first and the high awg wire restricts that draw... creating heat. I'm not saying that it will start a car on fire or that its common, but I feel like if you're upgrading a system in your vehicle it should be completed with those things considered and addressed. Mostly just personal preference preference I guess as many get by that way. The piece of mind is worth the $20 extra bucks to me and it provides a "better" finished product. As long as there's no snow in your pics you can post a picture of just about anything and it will make me happy. It was 70 degrees F her a week ago and today we got dumped on. 8" at last check and its been snowing for hours since then and won't be done for a few more hours... Painful.
  17. Go to a Mopar Wholesaler online and it has a diagram. Looks like a good alternative.
  18. I bet it looks good... I'll have to log on from home and take a peek.
  19. The problem is that most people don't put it on thick enough. It gets good coverage so people assume that it is thick enough when the color looks good. Not the case. Thicker is better and prep is KEY. Maybe some red calipers too while you're at it? Would match the war stripes nicely...
  20. I would suggest going in with a calm and collective demeanor before "raising hell"... You'll probably get a lot farther that way. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset everything? With the Canbus communication in newer vehicles that can sometimes help; it may just be a communication issue.
